NBC Sports and other international sports websites reported UCLA’s statement late Wednesday (Manila time).
“Incoming freshman guard Kobe Paras, admitted upon condition to UCLA, has withdrawn from the university due to academic conditions of his admission not being met,” the full statement read.
The 6-foot-6 incoming freshman, son of PBA legend Benjie Paras, made waves as a promising high school player out of Cathedral High School in LA.
Paras’ sheer athleticism, length and potential got him an offer at UCLA as he signed a National Letter of Intent to be part of the team in October of last year.
Before taking his talents to the United States, Paras played for La Salle-Greenhills.
Simula na ng karma
ReplyDeleteButi nga! #sorrybutnotsorry
DeleteShut up kung wala kang magandang masabi
DeleteKarma will bring you down, Kobe! Sabi nga db, honor thy father and mother kaso prang nakalimutan mo yung mother (biological).. Tsk!!!
Deleteinuna kasing atupagin ang pag-ge-gelfren, ayun tuloy, natsugi!!!
Deletemy thoughts exactly!
DeleteIt's just UCLA, people. Marami pang iba. Wahaha...
Deletein short...bagsak! haba pa ng pasakalye. marami pa naman diyan sa US na pwede siyang pagpilian. it's their loss, not Kobe
DeleteHindi bagsak Anon 11:53. May sinusunod silang average grades or GPA ang tawag nila dito. Ang UCLA mataas ang GPA na kailangan to be admitted, di sapat na pasado ka lang sa classes mo
DeleteSaan na pupulutin si kobe? Sayang naman
ReplyDeleteSayang nga, they have high hopes pa nmn na makapasok sya sa NBA kaso puro basket lang alam... academics nganga!!!
DeleteHe took for granted his academic courses. Sayang
He will be ok, he is too good not to be recruited.
DeleteIt's his SAT scores, not good enough for UCLA.. if you haven't taken an SAT test, it's really hard. You have to take classes to score high.
DeleteSayang. Mag aral ka ng husto uy.
ReplyDeleteHuge ouch
ReplyDelete"Certain people want a piece of my success" sabi niya sa ig post nya noon diba?
Deletetrue 11:05. I would probably feel sorry for him if he stayed humble all throughout. Failures like this would help shape his character, i hope.
DeleteAnon 10:18 am Hinde nga nakapasok Sa UCLA kase conditional nga Sa grades Kung matutuloy eh kaso Di nga umabot Ang grades so ayan...
Deletepossibly his GPA was not up to par w/UCLA's stringent requirements?
ReplyDeleteI think SAT scores niya ata ang kulang. Strict daw talaga ang school kasi un daw may pinakamaraming college applicants sa US.
DeleteUcla is a good school but not the best. It's not even listed as one of the Ivy League schools. #js
DeleteSome school's don't even require SAT's anymore, it's his GPA..
DeleteUCLA said that it's his SAT. SAT is hard...you get penalize for wrong answers. Most students even go to classes to do well with their SAT's, he probably didn't do that.
DeleteThere are only 8 ivy league schools, and they are all located in the northeastern part of the U.S. UCLA is a great school, nothing to scoff at.
Delete12:14 exactly. Ibang liga po yung "ivy league'', ibang division/ region parang ganern. Di po yan rank.
DeleteIf SAT is indeed the problem, he better apply to a community college and transfer back to UCLA after he gets his associates. That way he won't have to worry about no SATs
Deletepuwede rin get a degree muna, tas tryout sa NBA. kung talagang magaling at destiny niya, mapapasakanya.
DeleteAnon 10:44 do you even know what is Ivy League? Do you even know the part of the US where these Ivy League universities are? Di po kasama ang California dun.
DeleteAy kulang Sa talino! How sad .
ReplyDeleteHave you not heard of multiple intelligences? Magaling siya sa ibang bagay, hindi lahat academics ang forte and that is not exactly a bad thing. Atleast he excels in other paths...and you?
This is anon 6:54 am! Ako? Okay naman ako ... I got my bachelor of science degree from UCLA and my PharmD from USC.
Delete1:58
Deleteui gising! lol
1:58 Ay sobra ka sa hangin! How sad .
DeleteHaha ilusyonadang frog 1:58 lol
DeleteBalik ka na lang ng pilipinas!
ReplyDeletePanay laro mag aral ka din
ReplyDeletewhat happened? kobe should have known, it's ucla, kelangang athletic ang katawan lalo na ang utak.
ReplyDeletebaka may ibang nag-offer?
ReplyDeleteAcademic conditions daw. UCLA yun eh, public ivy league college.
Delete7:35 UCLA is not an Ivy League university.
DeleteBerkeley malapit lapit pa.
DeleteIt's considered public "ivy league" univ. Look it up 8:16 Berkeley's athletic dept. is not at as good as UCLA's
DeleteYou are welcome to our school!
Delete- LACC
He had 7 colleges that were interested before... experts think that he is going to be picked up soon. He is too talented not to be recruited, I just hope that it's a division 1 school.
DeleteIf he's doing bad in UCLA academically, he definitely won't survive UC Berkeley.UCB is harder
DeleteBalik na lang sya sa La Salle...
ReplyDeleteNo way!! It's just a little bump on the road. He can go to another school. I hope he goes to a Big Ten school.
DeleteSa NU na lang sya maglaro
DeleteUCLA is no joke. Daming gusto makapasok dyan. He was given a huge opportunity pero nasayang. Aral aral din minsan. LOL
ReplyDeletehow sad. i hope he learns from this and re-focus his priorities. it must have been really hard for him to live away from his family, focus on his studies and constantly prove himself worthy of the opportunity given to him. all these happening and dealing with it all by himself, and a teenager at that. i pray for better days ahead for this young fellow.
ReplyDeleteThank you sa positive na comment. Nung nakita ko sa twitter a few minutes ago na trending si kobe because of this naisip ko na malamang maraming hate comments. I wonder why there are people who get happiness from other people's misfortunes. Tsk.
Delete7:45 binasa ko muna lahat ng comments at napabalik ako sa comment na ito. very humbling. gusto kong simulan ang araw with a positive attitude. thanks.
DeleteSomebody should have advised him that UCLA is hard work , good study habits , good grades and dedication on top of being an athlete
DeleteThanks for your enlightened comment. Seldom do we read netizens not feasting on other peoples failures. Thanks for making good my day today may you also have a good one
Deletemaybe hindi lang talaga sya for UCLA.malay mo natin may iba pa plano ang kapalaran for him. dahil kahit naman san sya magaral kukuhain at kukuhain sya ng NBA kung magaling talaga sya. yun iba nga like Jr Smith straight from highschool naglaro sya agad for NBA.
DeleteSayang hanggang pba ba lang siya in the future.
DeletePuro lovelife kasi inatupag.. Basketball at gf lang nakafocus, ayan bagsak!
ReplyDeleteOverrated
ReplyDeleteThis is sad. I've been waiting for him to play for The Bruins!!
ReplyDeleteBruins suck.
Delete10:31 choosy pa eh dun mas likely syang marecruit ng NBA at makakuha ng good education at the same time. Ano nman pag-asa niya sa La Salle? Maraming college recruitrs nag-offer sa kanya and he's half-white, so your arguments are invalid.
Delete2:46 ANG DAMI DAMI DAMI DAMING ibang schools sa US, when it comes to athletics, better pa nga ang kapitbahay ng UCLA- USC, but again, compared to black athletes, miske white people, mahihina. He's a worthless defender. Is he even a good shooter? Comparable to the likes of Jeremy Lin? Eh Pilipinas?
Deleteakala kasi parang pinas ang US na porke mmagaling at may itsura eh ipapasa na sa academic! iba sa US ui di uso ang facial value dyan pagdating sa academic!
ReplyDeleteCorrect na correct .
DeleteMag artista ka na lang iho.
ReplyDeleteNa hyped masyado..too soon.
ReplyDeleteAng bata pa nya, kung makapag-comment ang iba dito parang the end of the road na for this young fella sus mas matitindi pa dyan ang pagdadaanan nya as he gets older.
ReplyDeletetrue ka baks! kala mo naman academic achievers kung makabash kay kobe! ucla yun uy! mataas talaga standards nun but that doesnt mean na bokya sa brains si kobe!
Delete9:24 you have no clue how many applicants are turned down every year
DeleteUCLA is very competitive, it has an 18%+ acceptance rate.
DeleteInday! It's not about crab mentality! It's about kobe's treatment towards his biological mother that made so many people dislike him!
DeleteHe can always try again next year. It's not like he was barred from UCLA. Kailangan niya ng tutor. Mga tao kung makareact, wagas.
ReplyDeleteIsisi na naman nila kay jackie lahat. Karma is going to get you and bite you hard
ReplyDeleteGod bless
ReplyDeleteYabang kc!
ReplyDeleteCharmacharmacharmacharmacharmacameleon...
ReplyDeleteNapakanta ako baks!!!
DeleteHayaan mo magisip yung bata...
ReplyDeleteY affected u?
Deleteyung mga katulad nyong bully ang dahilan bakit maraming teens ang nag susuicide, instead of empathizing them, you condemn. yes, he may have a bad blood with his mom, but who are we to judge the kid? you were not in his shoes growing up. you should be ashamed of yourselves. And no,im not his dad,mom etc etc
ReplyDeleteDont let that stop u from reaching your dreams.. Kobe!
ReplyDeleteAteneo Blue Eagles wants you!
ReplyDeletelol
Ano ka ngaun. Sa arellano bagsak mo
ReplyDeleteHahaha love it baks
ReplyDeleteKorek!
DeleteThis is nice...
DeleteSuper like this comment.
DeleteYou perfectly put into words my thoughts. Your mother is sorry and she is reaching out to you ---- at least hear her out especially since she have you at a time that she was still young. She is entitled to explain her side of the story too.
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteKumpara naman sa kakarampot mong brain cells!
Masipag mag aral at persistent si G. Kahit fair amount of inteligence If diligent ka to the highest level daig mo ang "matalino" na tamad at too confident na matalino .
DeleteIba po ang admission requirements ng freshman out of high school.
Deletewag na po tayo magmarunong. wala po tayong alam. mind your own business na lang. He's still a kid. got a very longw ay to go. lets be positive and compassionate to others.
ReplyDeleteKarma to the highest level!
ReplyDeletepwedeng pwede sa National University Team.....lol
ReplyDeletesobrang inlove siguro. kayo naman.
ReplyDeleteUCLA is included among the top 20 universities in the world! Far more superior than some good Asian schools and our very own UP that sits at 400.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.... I dont wanna say this but honey u cant achieve your dreams if you yourself dont know where to look back where u came from. Once in a while ... Look back and ull see where u goin
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with karma.
ReplyDeleteHaha I knew it Kobe.
ReplyDeletenot UCLA's loss
ReplyDeleted naman to parang pinas na just because you're an athlete e ipapasa ka na ng mga teachers
ReplyDeletetrue kailangan may utak din. di panay pasikat
DeleteBwahahahaha! My child goes to a public school in Irvine, CA and he is admitted in UCLA.
ReplyDeletemag-artista ka na lang kobe!
ReplyDeleteYan kasi puro Girlfriend inatupag ... Nganga tuloy
ReplyDeleteIt was not his destiny. Charot!
Hindi nya akam na mga anak nya magdadala nyan the rest of their lives.. He is so selfish..
ReplyDeleteAng samasama ng mga readers at commenters.... Ano ba yan.
ReplyDeleteTruth hurts my friend.
DeletePuede pa naman sa ibang schools..it's not the end of the world for kobe!
See? Kobe? This saying got you, huh!
ReplyDelete
