Repost: HBO Condemns Manny Pacquiao’s Homophobic Comments

Following comments that lost him sponsors and earned the ire of the professional sports world, HBO, the network that carries many of Manny Pacquiao’s pay-per-view fights, has released a statement regarding the boxer’s heinous comments.

“Next month Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Jr. are scheduled to meet in a Pay-Per-View bout.  We have an obligation to both fighters and, therefore, will proceed to produce and distribute that event. However, we felt it important to leave no uncertainty about our position on Mr. Pacquiao's recent comments toward the LGBTQ community.  We consider them insensitive, offensive and deplorable.  HBO has been a proud home to many LGBTQ stories and couldn't approach this event without clearly voicing our opinion."

Last month Pacquiao, who is running for a seat in the Philippines senate, said that homosexuals were no better than animals. He later apologized for the statement, but only after he drew harsh criticism from several sources and was dropped from his Nike endorsement.

    2. Murica ka jan! Expression yan ng mga Americans kaya just you copying that term shows how much you dont know. I applaud how they condemn such bigotry. There isnt any room for that in a first world country. Sure you have pockets of conservatives here and there but never held in the same light like in the Philippines where religion trumps the government every single time! Kaya backwards! Buti nga sayo Manny!

Marami kasing mga social media users sa kanila hindi alam spelling ng Murica nila kaya this is just a mockery and made into humor on social media!

    6. 11:55 That's how they mock southerners/hicks/hillbillies. Their accents are thick and most of them represent the stereotype that Europeans think Americans are! Kaya 'murica is because of the southern accent. Nagmamarunong tong mga to!It is a mockery of the conservative side of the US which demographically speaking is in the south.

I live in the south kaya lets try and not argue. Unless you can give me a legit address showing you're a neighbor of mine. Go lecture somebody else. Bwisit

    7. although sinabi nya na he is not condeming lgbt sa last interview nya, mali pa ren ang paliwanag nya...if he talks about the gospel, use the gospel to explain his side since he is already a pastor....someone who is running for a senate should not explain his opinion the way a 4-year old kid does....moreso, ilang beses na ren syang nagcomment about sa ganyan

    8. Mismo! Truth hurts.

so are you telling me that the rest of the world is over reacting to what manny said? please dont be narrow minded. And if you're not fully aware. LGBT is a SENSITIVE issue. And telling people na MAS MASAHOL PA SA HAYOP ang ACT which obviously points to the LGBT community is just low.

      Delete
    11. Condemning the act but not the people? So when heterosexual couples do it, it's love pero when homosexual couples do it, it's unacceptable? Pretty much the same don't you think?

      Delete
    12. 149 I'm not close to being narrow minded. My point is he stated what he believed in. Yes, he chose the wrong words, but some of these reactions have gone over the top.

    2. 10:29 I know and I understand these discrimination laws. What I'm pointing out is that whether that "sensitivity" is still valid to stand for it. Because admit it or not, there are instances that the LGBT, and the African American, had abused these rights and cried that they're being discriminated even when they're not.

  5. Too late for regrets. Le these endorsements go. Manny is still rich despite that. Also, if he is really a man of God, even if he turns out poor in the end, then this would not break his faith in God.

They respect our belief wag mo lang silang ipupush sa bagay na ayaw nilang paniwalaan. Mas mababait pa nga ang karamihan sa Atheist, than those who have religion dahil gusto nilang patunayan na sila ang Supreme Religion.
