    1. i'm not a fan but i don't hate aldub or any love teams. i've read the article, it only stated facts. so what's wrong if maine looked tired during the shoot? if you ask her, i'm sure she'll say she IS tired. article says she's late, so what eh kung late naman talaga, why bend the truth? if you read articles from vanity fair, etc parang ganyan din ang tone ng mga articles no big deal. you should read that article about cara delevingne kulang na lang sabihin para siyang adik. but what else is new, pinoys are balat sibuyas so kebs.

    2. I commend the writer and the esquire team for releasing the issue and for being honest at some point. But now, ngayong binawi nila sinabi nila? Hay nako. Sino ma maniniwala sa inyo ESQUIRE????

      Delete
    3. Booo indeed! Look at the first sentence of their Statement... February is their FUN issue! Very true because they made FUN of Maine Mendoza, ignored JOWaPao and maligned Alden who is not even in the cover! The least Esquire should do is Man up and say Sorry and not cover up the stinking $h%++¥ article💩💩💩

At hindi lahat ng mababasa nyo eh ayon lang sa gusto nyo.. for me hindi nega yung article, Honest, is the correct word, which is very refreshing.

      Delete
    5. How in the world was that an account to fame of the aldub phenomenon when all you did was put a bad light on Maine.

      Delete
    6. ANON 1:45 am aka guada aka Mariah, sabihin mo yan sa sarili mo pag may bad write ups or comments ang idols mo ha. Besides, this is a supposedly high-end magazine, hindi tabloid.

      Delete
    8. parang yung YES article about james reid that painted him in an unflattering light...

      Delete
    9. @1:45. Actually ok din naman na honest ang writer, kaya lng the article ksi is about maine and jowapao, and its not about her opinion and sad to say pa na her opinion were mostly insulting to maine, aldub and jowapao. I am an aldub/jowapao fan but i am also ok sa mga tao na hindi sila gusto kaya lng they got them as their cover sa mag nila, just to insult them? Wla lng man lessons or inspiring words na mababasa mo puro nega.parang bad trip lng ang writer. Sino ba naman magiging ok na pumayagmka to be on the cover of a magazine tapos ang article about sa yo eh puro opinion lng ng writer, nega pa, d ba?

      Delete

In short, ginawan ng issue.

    12. I just hate it when filipinos are looked down on.

      Delete
    14. If the writer had an editorial or opinion column, then her article would be ok. But it was clear that she knew zero about her subject(s). Where did she get the rating of Alden as a C-List Actor? In the 3 hours she waited for Maine and entourage to arrive, she could've interviewed Jowapao but no, she zeroed in on Maine. Hindi siya resourceful, there's a lot of material on the internet to read about her subjects, tamad siya magresearch. Esquire is not apologetic for this article, nakakahiya nga naman to admit this lazy effort was wrong. The takeaway of her article - I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT, MAINE IS JUST ORDINARY. Eh di sige, name another talent who achieved in the same short time all that Maine has achieved. Meron ba?

      Delete
    15. Hindi lahat ng tao natutuwa sa aldub.so sana hindi na lang ginawang cover hindi naman pala nakakatuwa.ang bastos lang dba.ang alam ko u get a certain celebrity to be a cover dahil gusto nyo but not to make fun of.duh!

    16. Napaka unprofessional ng writer. Sana kinilala nya muna si Maine Mendoza. The reason why we bought the Esquire mag is because of Maine. But I'm very disappointed sa writer. Puro opinions lang nya. Esquire is a well-known magazine not a tabloid.

    1. The writer actually yung Kat ba yon? Ayon. Sya din nagsulat daw ng aritcle for AlDub Nation din sa Philippine Star and was promoted by Joey De Leon. To think na nagsulat sya before for AlDub. And here comes the Esquire. Well. Expectations maybe were not met. I dunno if she actually loves her job.

      Delete
    2. Or probably she was not expecting to wait for long periods prior the interview (hence elaborating that the interview started late). Baka gusto VIP since she has written an article about AlDub before. Lakas maka-powertrip

      Delete
    3. If you need to travel to Your destination and know traffic can be a nightmare, account for it. But 3 hours late? Well it's also the fault of those who fix her sched.

      Delete

      Delete
    2. 12:43 you just read the part about her looking tired and being late? What about the other parts where she was ridiculed along with the other half. The writer did not even give justice to jose, wally and paolo. Truth you say? Or leaving other pieces of the article and giving light basis for your so "truth in journalism" on this write up. Yes not all people loves the loveteam but atleast be professional in writing an article about a person or group of people

      Delete
    3. "They received catholic mass media award for spreading good values. (What?)"

Not the exact words but what was she trying to imply here?!? If she has the "ethics" o respeto man lang, hindi niya na dapat tinira pati yan.

      Delete
    4. True. Be professional in writing an article about a person or a group of people--especially when they are in the cover. It's like you just used their faces to profit.

      Delete
    5. 'Truth' is gusto ni writer maging controbersyal at pagusapan sya. Heller, lahat halos ng artista nagmumukhang stress at some point and na lalate. But as a reader for the supposed "fun february issue" asan yung fun part dun, and it did not even define how the phenomenal love team started, or featured the relation bet JOWAPAO TO THE SUCCESS OF MAINE MENDOZA, something like that... Eh di sana nilagay na lang ni lang the 'maine medoza exposed' or controversies behind the success. Hindi yung fun tapos bad vibes yung mababasa mo. #famewhorekara that should be the next issue! No wonder, nilalangaw ang magazine na ito.

      Delete
    6. Teh magazine yan hindi newspaper.truth in journalism ka jan.bakit pinapaganda at inaayusan ang covergirl ng magazine?ibig sabihin gusto natin makitang maganda ganun din ang nasa loob ng magazine maganda din sana article or write up.

  11. Asuz... I still dont like the words that the writer used in describing Maine and Alden. Pang tabloid na inenglish lang.

So you think we do not understand your insults on Maine? I didn't even see an article about Jowapao. We are not dumb!

    2. Anon 1:16 mukhang hinde mo nabasa yung article. Hinde sila naging objective...yung totoo nagpa kontrobersyal yung writer nila.

I really think this is a demolition job.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Still, your mag has become a trashy tabloid the way you wrote the article.

    ReplyDelete
  24. its too late!!! bakit nyo kasi inapprove yun! dont you know na maraming nagmamahal kay maine and jowapao?! tsk2.

  25. Well the article is out..buti na lang word got out earlier..most of us didn't have to buy the mag anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  26. fire the st***d writer!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nyeta, explanation on the AlDub phenomenon DAW pero inemphasize na mukhang haggard si Maine, late ng 3 hours at iritable sa shoot, na si Alden ay C-list actor at isinama pa sa shoot ang JoWaPao wala naman anywhere on the article kung anong part ng JoWaPao sa Aldub phenomenon considering na malaking bahagi sila ng istorya.

"..some camps used our article to attack AlDub fans.." e mismong writer ninyo at magazine ninyo umatake sa AlDub fans at lalo na si Maine

Asahan na ninyong lalo bababa sales ninyo in the coming months. What a wasted opportunity, AlDub nation ang isa sa fandoms na may malakas na purchasing power!

  37. Yeah, right... because your article painted Maine in such a positive light and your writer was full of optimism and admiration for AlDub and ADN...

  40. "Never said otherwise"?? The fact that you called someone a "C-list actor", demeaning the fans, and practically insulting every facet of the loveteam just contradicts your press statement.

Fire that hateful Ortiga woman and the EIC who approved of her article and issue an actual apology.

    ReplyDelete
  45. "Anyone who reads the article will find that this is not true." - Hala I have a copy of the mag (which I regret buying it), I read everything in it, it was OBVIOUSLY a negative assessment of Maine. Duh? Anong gusto nyong palabasin Esquire PH? Double Duh!!! Whatever you say Esquire PH, nobody won't buy your magazine from ADN anymore.

    ReplyDelete
Nakakaloka kayo. Susme! May isip mga nakapagbasa ng nakasulat about Maine and JoWaPao... Wag niyo kaming ginagawang b*bo! Di kami stupido tulad niyo. Wag niyo kaming pinaglololoko ui!

  47. Iba ata ang binasa ng esquire

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think this statement is patronizing, t say the least. Khit ano pang sbhin nyo, damage has been done. Ang ADN matatalino, we know how to distinguisg between an article beautifully written and bashfully written. Sadly, yours was the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Weh di nga! Masyadong obvious ung article. Point by point explained! Try explaining it to us point by point then ill give the benefit of the doubt

  51. Sorry Esquire, I might have been born during the day, but I was not born Yesterday, and neither were the readers. It doesn't require an extraordinary amount of intelligence to know that your piece was an absolute attack on Maine, Alden, and their fans. Kindly read the article yourself and find out if the ire aimed at you is justified or not.

    ReplyDelete
  52. So if that's the case, meaning, the EIC is incompetent? Kasi kung yun ang gusto nyong sabihin na ayaw nyong tarnishan ang reputation nila how come inallow nyang mapublish to? Did the writer even got scrutinized how come she ended with that article na full of her opinion? Even Feature Article needs research as well, huyy hindi nga Feature ginawa nya Editorial. She even whined about Maine being late, that she couldn't find a spark and she didn't even mention na kaya nalate it's because may gigs pa prior. If she's really a good writer how come thorough research is not part of her vocabulary? Seems like everything is written to discredit not just Maine and Alden (who's not even part of the cover) but the entire AlDubnation for patronizing their tandem. If you are a competent writer by reading between the line, she's implying something. And if it's not really what you wanted to show, bakit pumasa sainyo yung article nya. So ano trabaho ng EIC? Kemerot lang? It's already there. No matter how much you try to defend your purpose, the article says otherwise.

    2. I also was so disappointed with how the article was written. It obviously was their "fun" way of putting someone as hugely popular as Maine in a bad light. Kaimbierna lng considering that their mag is so expensive. How come the article done on Angel Aquino was so nicely written? Perhaps the one who issued the statement read another mag or in the wrong page. At least, majority of Meng's fans know better. KEBS na lang!!

  53. Patawa tong Esquire na to.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So you're going to extend the FUN Issue just to recover from the damage? Or because you think you can fool the AlDubnation once more to milk money from them? If you are trying to win their trust back, well, the game is over.

  55. Tsk! Wag kami, Esquire

    ReplyDelete
  58. Burn esquire!! Burn!!! Like literally!!

    ReplyDelete
Hello? Unang una palang nega na agad. It's your fault actually to let this publish. For Ms. Ortiga, kindly tell me you made tons of research prior writing this. Probably, you want to be unique by doing this or you just don't like them at all, but please keep this as a reminder that if your not comfortable with the assigned topic to you just tell your EIC or just have a decency. Esquire invited them to be featured not to be bashed. Hope you know that.

  81. Where in your article, dear Esquire, did you hold Maine in the highest regard? Your non-apology just proves how trashy your magazine has become.

To tell you honestly, it's even better to read tabloids over you. At least with them, we expect the worst. Well at least the readers know better.

And excuse me, don't insult the intelligence of Aldub fans. You think too highly of yourself. Tsk.

  82. "some camps"??? hello!! ang nagsulat ng article taga esquire!!! T*nG@ lang?

    ReplyDelete
  83. This is a non-apology! Esquire is like an ungracious host to invited visitors to their mag. If u keep on writing like this about ur covers then who woukd wanna be in it? Why focus on the negatives instead of the positives. Why sound like so high and mighty and unwelcoming, like u are better than ur subjects. Pasosyal ang dating ng writer na parang napilitan magsulat about them. If u are writing a feature article on someone, try harder to know them and not write like ur superior than them. Nakaka turn off ang mag nyo, bakit ako bibili kung BV and mababasa ko. On a business standpoint, di ba u need to sell kaya give the readers what they wanna read.. Mga GV articles na nakaka uplift and nakaka happy. Duhhh!!

  86. Mga walang hiya! Di nko bibili ng mag nyo ever!

    ReplyDelete
  87. after I left a comment on Esquire IG,funny how I got a follow request from Kara Ortiga.looks like she's been reading the comments as well.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I dont buy your explanation esquire!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Icocover nyo yung tao tapos lalaitin yun. Ano yun?! Pinagkaperahan nyo lang si maine. Mga traydor!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Icocover nyo tapos puro negative isusulat nyo?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Now i know. EsquirePH magazine is rubbish. Now, atleast people know this magz is trashy.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Eh kayo kaya tawagin kong C-list magazine.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Ininsulto nyo si maine. Ang sama sama nyo. Kukuhanin nyong cover tapos iinsultuhin nyo lang.

    ReplyDelete
  95. "Some camps have used our article to attack aldub fans.." What?!! Eh yung writer nyo who's attacking aldub & aldub nation eh.

    ReplyDelete
  97. So I'm guessing na hindi ako dapat bumili ng Esquire magazine. May nakita kasi ako sa 711 kaso kinulang ako sa pera dahil may iba ko binili.

    ReplyDelete
  98. "Anyone who reads will find that this is not true". Excuse me in denial ba kayo na madaming na-offend sa article nyo. Iniinsulto nyo mga readers, we can read between the lines ok. Taas ng tingin nyo sa sarili nyo. Wala na sanang bumili ng magazine nyo.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Okay, so this is your "Fun" issue. Fun issue should give FUN or atleast indicate it on your mag that it was just a pure joke, but this is not even funny at all.

You can crack a joke at her, but what you've wrote...seems you simply wants to discredit her and oh you forgot the 3 man.

Kung humanap ka ng mga nakakatawang questions or look at the witty sides probably you'll ace this. And Esquire for allowing it to be published, such an irresponsible act.

    ReplyDelete
  100. We can all agree that not everyone like Aldub. However, this article was written maliciously. it was not written professionally nor with respect in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  101. While a few select people call this piece an "honest and refreshing" take on Maine, I don't understand why it highlighted the fact she arrived late, droopy eyed and wobbling. Why is it not about her being very hardworking and in so much demand she hardly has time to herself?! Explain also Junior's C-list label! He is a multi-awarded celebrity who wasn't even on the blasted cover! What was that little gem of information based on? Please I beg you, do enlighten me! Did you also forget to include your fantastic insight to the genius that is JoWaPao, an integral part to the success of the AlDub phenomenon?! ADN welcomes and respects other people's opinion. No one is forcing anybody to like them. But since you featured Maine and JoWaPao in your magazine, the very least you could do is give them due credit and respect because they are all decent and hardworking individuals. In their own little way, they spread happiness, hope and positivity to the Filipinos. Sadly, I couldn't say the same thing about you.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I just don't buy that mag anymore! the end.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  106. BOYCOTT ESQUIRE! WHAT'S THIS? A NON-APOLOGY APOLOGY? NANG-AANO KAYO EH! PLS STOP DIGGING YOUR OWN GRAVE...ADMIT YOU MESSED UP, NOW YOU'RE TRYING TO SAVE WHAT CAN BE SAVED? YOUR MAG IS A F****N JOKE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I will never buy your magazine, Esquire. Ever. Maraming magazinr dyan.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Go to hell Esquire!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Aldub fans are not stupid Esquire. Have you ever seen a fandom that holds medical missions?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Bad article. Irresponsible editing. Get off your high horses. Lol, i do hope that esquire wont alienate the companies that maine represents and stands for. Goodluck.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm not buying it! Literally and figuratively.

    ReplyDelete
Make sure may bahid ng dog shit - a shitty piece deserves a piece of shit.

    ReplyDelete
  113. It's not just Maine, pati Jowapao.

Fire that writer or kiss your company goodbye.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  116. Esquire and that Yes Magazine who featured James Reid belong to one company, Summit Media. Anong trip ng mga to?! Demolition job for the two hottest loveteams in their respective networks?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Everyone from Esquire PH should GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES! Although I am a fan of Maine that didn't taint my judgment that you have a badly written article. The freaking author didn't EVEN GET TO SPEAK TO MAINE! She's obviously an intellectual snob. Typical of a FUGLY person who graduated from UP and didn't do good in life. I'm sorry to say that I will never buy your magazine again. Your nothing but BULLIES.

  118. Obviously, hindi kayo regular readers of Esquire.

    ReplyDelete
  119. IBANG KLASE DIN ANG ESQUIRE!! FIRST, YOU FEATURED MAINE/JOWAPAO SA MAGAZINE NYO PARA I-MARKET ANG COPIES SA AMING MGA FANS. OF COURSE BUMILI KAMI KASI IDOL NAMIN ANG NAKA-FEATURE. PAGKATAPOS NAMING I-SPEND ANG MGA PERA NAMIN SA INYO, YUN LANG ANG MAPAPALA NAMIN, PURO KA-NEGAHAN?! "NAGANTSO KAMI, GANOIN???

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  123. Susunugin ko pa rin ang Esquire mag to show how crappy the Mag is. And never ever buy this Mag ever...ever...

    ReplyDelete
Tsk... Tsk...tsk....Iba mag Salita ang ADN.....

    ReplyDelete
  125. Whatever ESQUIRE. NOT BUYING your mags from this day forward. Sorry not sorry

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  132. Your statement is as dumb as your article. And so, this is how you write about people who you say you have high regards for? Please, don't make us incompetent as you are. It's your writer that you should blame and not this so called other camp you made up.

    ReplyDelete
  133. after stating my point on Esquire IG, Kara Ortiga tried following me, and so with other commenters, which puzzled us .Then suddenly I got blocked on Esquire IG. Lol. Guess it was Kara O who's behind the blocking.

    ReplyDelete

    1. me too! they cant handle the truth! they blocked us and invited their legions to comment on their favor. they're pathetic!

  134. I got blocked on esquire's ig page too after saying my two cents. How low of them. They had all the time in the world to block and follow people but never had the time to actually READ their own articles lol. Way to go, Esquire!

    1. Copy paste their apology, Tapos write your piece on Facebook and make it public. That way even if they block it, people will see what you have to say. I replied to them too and I guess ma bo-block din ako soon enough so I just posted it on FB.

  135. Oh please Esquire Philippines you completely missed the point. People are turned-off by your article simply because it was such an amateur piece. It's not innovative at all. It was poorly written, poorly researched, and downright tasteless. It has nothing to do with upsetting fans at all. I'm not even a fan of Maine Mendoza but I found this appalling because your writer didn't even meet the girl personally and just corresponded through email and yet she wrote the article like it was beneath her. My second issue with this article is how the writer described Alden Richards as a C-List Actor. Come on, even if you don't watch GMA, you could easily Google and see his work prior to the Kalyeserye. Just because you didn't know the guy doesn't mean he's some loser. This was written by a wannabe pa SOSHAL writer. And you are defending it because your editors approved of it when it wouldn't have passed the standards of other decent editors. Look Esquire people are not dumb. I know the writing style of your foreign counterparts. Esquire US, Vanity Fair, Vogue, etc. and it's not in the same level. I remember reading Vanity Fair articles featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift, etc and they too mentioned how they were late, their nuances, and all that crap. But they sat down with their subject for an entire day to get to know them and that's when their feature got meaty. You simply didn't do that. Get over it. You should have done a REAL apology. Or better yet, just admit that you think you guys are too classy to be featuring something like this and that you had no choice but to join the bandwagon so you can at least reach your sales targets for a change.
