As sad as it is, he has a point. Networks care more about the money than the welfare of their employees...and that includes the actors. When you're on a very tight deadline where sometimes you have to film, edit, and show an episode all in one day...how can you not feel all that stress and pressure? Everyone is relying on you. They're not getting enough sleep, no time to take care of themselves...which ends up to ppl getting sick. If they already have an underlying health issue than this is a definite cause for concern.
My point is they should know what the job entailed before applying for the job, no one forces them to do it and besides the showbiz industry workers are very well compensated for their jobs.
it's easy to say no one's forcing them to apply for that job or stay in it, but the truth is that they, like most of us, just carry on day by day trying to earn a living. in whatever job we are in, whatever we get paid, we deserve humane working conditions.
Not everyone working in the showbiz industry is paid well. Most people behind the camera are paid around the minimum wage and works on contractual basis which means benefits are nil
Only the actors are well compensated. Not those behind the camera especially the utility, PA, and more.
And with regards no one forces them to do it.. Well yes no one, but it's what they like. It's their passion. Kaya yun ang gusto nila na work. So wag din isisi kung gusto nila ang work na ganyan
May point sya.
sad to say dahil cost-cutting ang mga networks talagang magdamagan nga sa taping, more than 24 hrs ata sila depende kung maayos ang flow. sana pati yung working hours for minors is strictly followed
He has a point. Yung pressure siguro na makatapos at ung demand nung trabaho. Isama pa yung deadline tapos yung pabago bagong klima.
Sana they have standard time lang in terms of working. Sobra kayang stressful ang pagiging Director. Ang artista they can set time na pack up na sila pero ang director hanggat kailangan sa production, walang pack-up pack-up. Lahat ng off-cam ang pinaka stressed kaya they should have set time and be more considerate lalo ang naririsk ay health nung mga tao.
Agree. Schedules should have limits like the ones implemented in Hollywood, other Asian countries and Europe. They only have 8-12 hours of filming everyday based on the different articles I have read before.
Tolerable pa kasi when you are young yung gising hanggang madaling araw, but as we age, may limitations na dapat. Cardiac arrest sila na directors because of lack of sleep, stress and untimely eating habits.
Sa US, usually it takes at least a year to make and release a movie - sometimes 2 years pa kasi all the prep work (choosing a director, writer, talent, filming location, all the logistics, etc) takes at least a few months.
Eh di i-follow ung labor law, unh may maximum work hours. Then sana handang handa na ung buong storya at bago mag shoot eh at least kalahati nung script eh naisulat na. Then kalahati ng tapos na script eh i-shoot na bago pa man din i-launch para di sila laging gahol. Saka kung balak ng network na i-extend, at least may headstart na sila, di ujg on the spot. Mapag iisipan pa, mapapaganda pa.
I guess its time to somehow do shows like how they do it in the US. Yung once a week a lang or pwedeng twice. Para may time to rest yung staff at the same time hindi agad nakaka umay yung mga shows. For example, weekend sitcoms like Pepito Manaloto or Home Sweetie Home.
Dati naman in the '70s to 90s puro weekly lahat ang shows eh. 2 teleserye shows lang ang daily Yung pang 6 PM and yung pang 2 PM ~ And these shows last for many years
Dapat kasi all TV networks and Film companies should set a resonable cut-off time pag taping and shooting days. Grabe naman talaga ang working hours ng mga artists and lalo na ang mga people behind the production wala talagang enough pahinga in between tapings, kaya health ng mga artists and production people ang nagsa-suffer. If i'm not mistaken sa US regulated talaga na up to 16 hours max. ang set shooting time per day dapat sa pinas may set rules din dapat.
Mygawd kasi abscbn, wag naman kasi mag-shoot now, show later at wala pang script.
sa ibang bansa unionized ang actors, directors, set people... may rules sa working hours, wages, treatment... pity why they don't have teamsters/actors equity sa pinas. -norma rae
Tbh mukhang it runs in the family so maraming contributing factor but yung stress nya sa work and maybe lifestyle related to his work definitely did not contribute to his heart's health.
totoo iyan kaya ako nagquit bilang film editor.
We have choices in life. We can't blame anybody . It is natural cause.
Magdamagan kasi ang taping, damay lahat, directors, staff and crew, actors.
kaya din low quality yung mga films sa pinas kasi mga minadali at obsess sa cost cutting. sa hollywood kahit abutin ng isang taon makamit lang yung quality, movies here in the philippines are for the company, not for the audience
PERFECT WORDS !!! I said it to myself when I learned that Wenn died of cardiac arrest, and now to Direk Xavier, another cardiac.. filming and shooting plus pressures from the network made them soooooo super stressful and no medical team to remind them to slow down and avoid late night taping.. late night taping can be sooooooooo stressful, heart desease is cause by sleepless nights.
sad to say exploitative ang nature ng entertainment industry more than being creative. I think it's how they roll in terms of making profit and these companies are profit driven/oriented. It's sad. Parang isang malaking LEGIT killing machine ang nature neto.

Natawa naman ako baks sa 1 million dollars! Million dollars pa more!
DeleteTrue. Nagtatrabaho ako sa mga tv series and there have been deaths among other crew members

Sana mabago na systema this time.
Deleteand minsan umiinom pa ng too much energy drink which is really dangerous esp. sa heart :(

ReplyDeleteCarla Abellana agrees. LOL.

ReplyDeleteTo be fair no amount of pre prep can ever compensate for the Egomaniacs who roam the set throwing their weights around on a whim.
