My family and I stayed there at Sofitel for 5 days last year and have nothing but great breakfasts at Spiral. Maybe you caught someone on a bad day on that particular station, sir?
lucky for you. because we have a bad experience of discrimination from a staff at the italian cooking station. obviously favoring foreigners over locals.
it is a restaurateur's duty to anticipate guests' needs, and they pay for our service. servers MUST and HAVE to be warm to each and every guest na ina-accommodate ng establishment nila :) -hotelier here
Not only that, they tried to charge us and cant explain the charges. Utos daw ng accounting! Eventually after forcing them to explain the charges eh aalisin na lang daw nila! Imagine if we didnt check the bill that would be approx 3k down the drain!
I hope you complained to the manager and gave name of the offending staff. I hate spending so much and expecting to relax , enjoy but your day is ruined when a staff who supposedly is in the "people" industry and should cater to guests are blatantly rude. Plus you're a paying customer at that. in this case , a luxury hotel so that means an exorbitant price tag. the service tax is so high to give to employees . Rude employees especially in that industry should just leave or be reprimanded.
a fiv star hotel? how did it happen? Should spread the world about this and next they management the action.. FP try in Heritage Pasay they have mix Western and Pinoy in one Buffet if you just like...:-)
Money is also the issue my dear. At cheap restaurants, if the service is bad, it's to be expected, you get what you paid for. At 5 star hotels, hell no!
one can actually survive on 2,500+-peso monthly on grocery items. you don't have to resort to instant noodles or sardinas if you really know how to budget your money and meticulously go through different brands and items found in the grocery.

I understand where you're coming from, but there's also nothing wrong with spending money if you want to reward yourself from time to time. If you want to stay at a five star hotel, by all means, go ahead. Kung namamahalan ka naman, eh di wag kang pumunta sa ganun.

Halatang madami ang walang alam kung gaano kahirap ang buhay ng majority sa bansa natin. Manuod kayo ng mga docus gaya ng I-witness ng malaman nyo kung gaano kahalaga ang bawat piso sa mga hirap na hirap sa buhay.

In all fairness naman ... ilang beses na kami kumakain dito and they served us well and with a smile .. and you cannot tagged a resto or hotel as "worst" place if isa lng naman ... u can always seek the attention of the manager to call their server. #justsaying
Good food, bad service. everytime i make reservation for a big group they would always give my table to other groups. Even after verifying my reservation and ndi naman kame late.
One time my sister in law and mother in law got stuck in the rest room with 4 to 5 other women. It took the maintenance 30 mins to arrive and open the door.
Ako rin nadaya sa Sofitel last month at sinulat ko sa feedback form. Yung Margherita pizza nila is cheese pizza not a spec of basil. Tapos yung bathrobe sa room lumang luma.
Vikings?!! Incomprable naman sa Spiral yon. Sus, ang konti ng nilalagay nila sa serving dish. Tinitipid. Tapos pag pinapa-replenish mo, parang kakarampot din nilalagay.
Pangit talaga service ng Sofitel in general. Kami naman we had a bad experience sa hotel na yan, we were stranded for 45 minutes sa floor namin dahil lahat ng elevator puno and ayaw nila pagamit ang stairs dahil pang emergency lang daw! C'mon! 45 minutes??????? Di nyo pa rin papagamit stairs nyo????!!!
True that! Sofitel's customer service is poor! I checked in there and was transferred from one room to another, because of their mistake, and they werent apologetic, at all!
We arrived late pm, took them 35 min to check us in and told us that we need to wait for 49 min for the rooms to be ready! Tas they have the nerve to tell us that check out the next day is at exactly 12nn!
panget nga service! we went there last november 5, the shrimp and lobster were super rubbery and no flavor!!! i sent a lengthy email to the email address indicated on their website but sadly, my complaint fell on deaf ears. the price is sooooo not worth it.
I have no patience for rude people especially servers or those in the hospitality business. I am a very easy customer. I'm always smiling, polite, and saying my thank yous and pleases. I am never demanding. So when I get an attitude from them despite being pleasant, I make sure they get what they deserve.
Ditto. Huwag nila akong bubuwisitin dahil mas buwisit ako sa kanila. Respect begets respect. People in this kind of industry must know that the people who they are being rude to are the same people who brings in the money to keep the business going.
Spiral is overrated. Dyan kami kumain ng BF ko na tinitingnan kami ng staff mula ulo hanggang paa. Nahihiya na tuloy akong tumayo at pumunta sa iba't-ibang station. Kasi pakiramdam ko kahit paying customers kami, wala kaming karapatan pumunta dun. Tsaka dyan ako nakakain ng baked mussels na dahil sa sobrang lansa, nailuwa ko. Tsaka wala namang stellar sa dishes na inooffer nila. Mas gusto ko pa Vikings SM Megamall.
If Sukiyaki is the only thing you'll eat, you might be better off eating at a legit Japanese restaurant than at a buffet. You might even be paying less.
Paying 3500 for sukiyaki,why go to a buffet? Mkapag inarte lang. Dami dnelete comments about power tripping ni fp.why not complain to the manager on duty?
Sorry to know about that FP. But still, sofitel is one of the best buffet for me! Though hindi talaga lahat na they're serving is good. Its still better in comparison with other famous hotel buffets! One is with Nobu cafe buffet which is a major letdown.
I've never had problems with their food but their reservation process sucks. Kapag nag request ka ng table sa particular area ( close to the main dining), they'd say ok but when you get there, they will deny they accepted such request and just give you a table as far back as the escalator. Told them it'll be more convenient for senior citizens in our group pero parang utang na loob mo pa sa kanila yoong pinapakausap mo. You kinda have to assert your self all the time or else, they'll insist on what they want. Parang hindi mga nag service architecture
Yes, It's true very very bad service talaga dyan!!We stayed there for 4 days kahit sa Breakfast Oh my ang daming employees pero parang di nila alam ang kanilang work. Kahit sa bar order ka ng drinks super tagal yon pala nakalimutan na.Even sa rooms they are'nt that clean as well. Kadiri pa yong natagpuan kong face towel na nakahide oh my , I will never forget my horrible experience sa hotel na yan.
They charge for ice pa! That would one I cant accept! Kesyo certified daw ng health something ang ice nila kaya ng cha charge sila! Hahaha! How come manila hotel was able to provide us with ice free of charge and with a smile! Yung sa kanila utang na loob mo pa considering na binayaran mo na! An the rooms! Madumi na sobrang luma pa!
sofitel is not worth it. pangit rooms, buffet breakfast is blah. and try calling their hotline, parang hindi alam ang sinasabi. i've been to sofitel hotels and they're really good, pero this one on manila, 3rd world ang dating talaga.
Sofitel is indeed over-rated! there are lots of good quality buffet nowadays to choose from. even when it has this sale in cashcashpinoy, I never thought of buying hahaha
Family ate at Sofitel. I was a bit bummed with their selections, for 3,500 you would think kasama na ang drinks. Nope, only coffee or tea lang. If you want juice or wine add on na sya. No lobster, yes, the day we went there it was for the lobster. We inquired sa reception and they told us na meron only to find out- after being seated and served bread wala pala. Finally, food diversity and taste wasn't special. I mean really. It was so-so even if they have unlimited cheese, you can only have so much of dairy. So..... Maybe the dinner spread wasn't great as I thought it would be. Will I eat there again? Maybe for breakfast nalang.....
I tried Spiral before and it's a bit overrated. The only thing I enjoyed was their Cheese Room. If you want impeccable service, I suggest going to Solaire. Their staff is very well accomodating. They really take care of you there. The buffet is sulit pa.

Oh no..i was planning to eat there this valentine's with family. One bad comment could have been fine but there are many testimonies of bad serivice na rin. There must be basis for this. Will never take the chance of having a bad experience from a "5 star hotel". In the first place, one bad comment is enough to ruin a business as prestigious as Sofitel. So their service is NOT consistently excellent. What a major let down this is. So, my family is never going there na. Like ever.
Sila din yung hindi naghonor ng senior citizen discount sa isang meber customer nila. Turned out lawyer yung customer. He filed a suit and won the case.
Tamad ang staff dun sa cheese & cold cuts na room, nagpahiwa ako ng prosciutto kasi ang iikli na nung nasa display plate, parang naimbyerna pa sa akin, sumama yung mukha! Parang ayaw mautusan! A lot of Spiral Buffet service staff are RUDE. We would always eat there on weekends and my favorite is the foie gras (tama ba spelling?). And oviously since it's my favorite, I would always go back to the area where they serve it. I think I bacame a "too familar" face for the server and whenever I went back, naka simangot na sya. So one time i asked "Is there a problem, miss?" Agad nag reply "no ma'am". E g*** pala sya, kaya ako bumabalik don kasi yun lang halos kinakain ko when i eat buffet there. They should train their staff and orient them that 2500-3k for the buffet is not cheap. So service should be commensurate as well!
so disapointed with sofitel, sayang yung name nila, 5 star daw pero 3 star ang service. isama na ang resto nila, spiral is expensive pero the menu and taste is blah, staff mabagal. nadala ako, very expensive mistake. much better deal pa ang pan pacific, great butler service and the breakfast buffet is always enjoyable (except for the coffee), i just hope they find a better location.
i also had a bad dining experience the first and last time i ate at spiral in 2014. first of all, the staff did not allow me to take photos of the buffet spread. fine, if it's policy i will obey but what's their point? i've been to several hotel buffets and only spiral has this "no photography" policy. secondly, both the tuna and salmon sashimi were not fresh. they tasted like plastic to me. spiral did not live up to my expectations. escolta is better for me.

Kasi pakiramdam ko kahit paying customers kami, wala kaming karapatan pumunta dun. Tsaka dyan ako nakakain ng baked mussels na dahil sa sobrang lansa, nailuwa ko. Tsaka wala namang stellar sa dishes na inooffer nila. Mas gusto ko pa Vikings SM Megamall.

DeleteIf Sukiyaki is the only thing you'll eat, you might be better off eating at a legit Japanese restaurant than at a buffet. You might even be paying less.

ReplyDeleteI had an issue with their reservation process. Tumawag naman ako tapos kineclaim nila na wala daw call. Nakakahiya tuloy sa mga kasama ko.

ReplyDeleteSorry to know about that FP. But still, sofitel is one of the best buffet for me! Though hindi talaga lahat na they're serving is good. Its still better in comparison with other famous hotel buffets! One is with Nobu cafe buffet which is a major letdown.

ReplyDeleteI've never had problems with their food but their reservation process sucks. Kapag nag request ka ng table sa particular area ( close to the main dining), they'd say ok but when you get there, they will deny they accepted such request and just give you a table as far back as the escalator. Told them it'll be more convenient for senior citizens in our group pero parang utang na loob mo pa sa kanila yoong pinapakausap mo. You kinda have to assert your self all the time or else, they'll insist on what they want. Parang hindi mga nag service architecture
ReplyDeleteYes, It's true very very bad service talaga dyan!!We stayed there for 4 days kahit sa Breakfast Oh my ang daming employees pero parang di nila alam ang kanilang work. Kahit sa bar order ka ng drinks super tagal yon pala nakalimutan na.Even sa rooms they are'nt that clean as well. Kadiri pa yong natagpuan kong face towel na nakahide oh my , I will never forget my horrible experience sa hotel na yan.
ReplyDeleteThey charge for ice pa! That would one I cant accept! Kesyo certified daw ng health something ang ice nila kaya ng cha charge sila! Hahaha! How come manila hotel was able to provide us with ice free of charge and with a smile! Yung sa kanila utang na loob mo pa considering na binayaran mo na! An the rooms! Madumi na sobrang luma pa!
Deletesofitel is not worth it. pangit rooms, buffet breakfast is blah. and try calling their hotline, parang hindi alam ang sinasabi. i've been to sofitel hotels and they're really good, pero this one on manila, 3rd world ang dating talaga.

DeleteFamily ate at Sofitel. I was a bit bummed with their selections, for 3,500 you would think kasama na ang drinks. Nope, only coffee or tea lang. If you want juice or wine add on na sya. No lobster, yes, the day we went there it was for the lobster. We inquired sa reception and they told us na meron only to find out- after being seated and served bread wala pala. Finally, food diversity and taste wasn't special. I mean really. It was so-so even if they have unlimited cheese, you can only have so much of dairy. So..... Maybe the dinner spread wasn't great as I thought it would be. Will I eat there again? Maybe for breakfast nalang.....

ReplyDeleteI tried Spiral before and it's a bit overrated. The only thing I enjoyed was their Cheese Room. If you want impeccable service, I suggest going to Solaire. Their staff is very well accomodating. They really take care of you there. The buffet is sulit pa.

ReplyDeleteOh no..i was planning to eat there this valentine's with family. One bad comment could have been fine but there are many testimonies of bad serivice na rin. There must be basis for this. Will never take the chance of having a bad experience from a "5 star hotel". In the first place, one bad comment is enough to ruin a business as prestigious as Sofitel. So their service is NOT consistently excellent. What a major let down this is. So, my family is never going there na. Like ever.

DeleteTamad ang staff dun sa cheese & cold cuts na room, nagpahiwa ako ng prosciutto kasi ang iikli na nung nasa display plate, parang naimbyerna pa sa akin, sumama yung mukha! Parang ayaw mautusan! Pero yung chef sa may shawarma station mabait, ginawan nya ako ng beef shawarma kahit sandamakmak na yung chicken shawarma na naka ready don
ReplyDeleteA lot of Spiral Buffet service staff are RUDE. We would always eat there on weekends and my favorite is the foie gras (tama ba spelling?). And oviously since it's my favorite, I would always go back to the area where they serve it. I think I bacame a "too familar" face for the server and whenever I went back, naka simangot na sya. So one time i asked "Is there a problem, miss?" Agad nag reply "no ma'am". E g*** pala sya, kaya ako bumabalik don kasi yun lang halos kinakain ko when i eat buffet there. They should train their staff and orient them that 2500-3k for the buffet is not cheap. So service should be commensurate as well!
ReplyDeleteso disapointed with sofitel, sayang yung name nila, 5 star daw pero 3 star ang service. isama na ang resto nila, spiral is expensive pero the menu and taste is blah, staff mabagal. nadala ako, very expensive mistake. much better deal pa ang pan pacific, great butler service and the breakfast buffet is always enjoyable (except for the coffee), i just hope they find a better location.
ReplyDeletei also had a bad dining experience the first and last time i ate at spiral in 2014. first of all, the staff did not allow me to take photos of the buffet spread. fine, if it's policy i will obey but what's their point? i've been to several hotel buffets and only spiral has this "no photography" policy. secondly, both the tuna and salmon sashimi were not fresh. they tasted like plastic to me. spiral did not live up to my expectations. escolta is better for me.
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried sofitel buffet here in Abu Dhabi. But other 5 star hotels here around have both great foods and excellent service.
