Repost: ABS-CBN Responds to Complaint of Talent

On Tuesday, January 5, TV network ABS-CBN responded to an open letter from Rossellyn Domingo, a former extra on Forevermore, who wrote that director Cathy Garcia-Molina humiliated her boyfriend while filming for the show.

On the same day, Rossellyn voiced out her thoughts on ABS-CBN's statement regarding the issue. On Facebook, Rossellyn shared an article about the network's statement, and said that she was glad that they did not deny her and boyfriend Alvin Campomanes' accusations against Cathy.

She also said that ABS-CBN's statement was true – the network did promise immediate action after receiving Alvin's letter. However, ABS-CBN supposedly failed to give the couple updates on whether their demands had been fulfilled.

Rossellyn and Alvin are now in communication with ABS-CBN. Here is Rossellyn's statement in full:

"I am glad that the network did not deny her foul behavior.

"It is true that the network executives promised immediate action. We asked for updates but after a few exchanges of emails, we were no longer informed.

"We never told the talent supplier that we are not pursuing this complaint anymore. She said she was going to suspend John Leonardo. But how will we even know if it is true that he was suspended? What about the apology of the other offenders?

"The mistake of the network is that it failed to verify whether the issue had been dealt with satisfactorily and justly.

"We are now in communication with the network. We will be meeting with network representatives and the Forevermore team soon.

"May justice be served."

On December 31, Rossellyn posted an open letter on Facebook, addressed to Cathy. In her letter, Rossellyn said that she couldn't stand how Cathy cursed at and humiliated Alvin while they acted as extras on Forevermore.

Rossellyn also attached a complaint that Alvin sent to ABS-CBN in 2014.

ABS-CBN responded that they acted immediately after receiving Alvin's complaint in 2014. They wanted to meet with the couple, and asked MTQ Promotions and Talent Management – the company that recruited Rossellyn and Alvin – to arrange it.

"But we were later informed by MTQ Promotions and Talent Management owner Mary Ann Trumata-Rejano that there was no need for a meeting as they had met with Mr Campomanes and Ms Domingo and settled the issue," recounted ABS-CBN.

They added that they were suprised to see Rossellyn's letter, because they thought that the issue had already been resolved.

"At present, we are in communication with Mr Campomanes and both parties have agreed to meet to resolve the matter," they added.

Here is ABS-CBN's statement in full, emailed to Rappler on January 5.

"ABS-CBN acknowledged and responded immediately to Alvin Campomanes when he wrote to us in October 2014. We also sought a meeting with Mr Campomanes and Rossellyn Domingo through MTQ Promotions and Talent Management, the agency that engaged their services for the project.

"But we were later informed by MTQ Promotions and Talent Management owner Mary Ann Trumata-Rejano that there was no need for a meeting as they had met with Mr Campomanes and Ms Domingo and settled the issue.

"When Ms Domingo posted an open letter on her Facebook last Dec [31], we were surprised to learn that the issue has not been resolved, contrary to what the talent agency owner told us. At present, we are in communication with Mr Campomanes and both parties have agreed to meet to resolve the matter."

Alvin and Rossellyn played Makoy and Celia on Forevermore, respectively.

In his letter to ABS-CBN, Alvin said that his role on the show was unplanned, as he had just replaced the actor who was supposed to play the role.

Alvin also demanded disciplinary action against Cathy, talent coordinator John Leonardo, and a certain crew member named Jeng, plus an apology.

Since it was published, Rossellyn's open letter has gone viral. Cathy has not addressed the issue.

Alvin is a historian and a faculty member at the University of the Philippines Manila. He previously taught at the University of Asia and the Pacific, Enderun Colleges, and other schools.

Forevermore starred Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano as Alexander and Agnes, who met and fell in love in Baguio. It became one of the most popular dramas from 2014 to 2015, establishing the tandem of Enrique and Liza onscreen.

Cathy was also the woman behind One More Chance and its sequel, A Second Chance, both starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

    7. I agree with the "gut feel" or sense na OA na nga. Cussing others is never justified; but given the context, the demands of the aggrieved seem too much. Ang daming mas lehitimong concerns na puedeng pagtuonan ng pansin...concerns ng mga taong walang posisyon o kakayahan ilahad ang saloobin na tulad ng isang 'professor' (note how a big chunk of the letter sounded like a CV. It sounded very much like the writer was incredulous that a person of his status could be treated that way. It wasn't simply a complaint of treatment BUT a complaint that HE--with all his credentials--was treated that way). Kita mong may sense of entitlement yung aggrieved. "Because he can" kumbaga. While on the other hand those who endure long hours, low wages, no celeb status rewards, and no other fallback for a job, san pa sila pupunta? Eto extra, hindi niya nama kailangan ang trabahong yan. Malaki na masyado mileage ng problema nya. The aggrieved privileged party is taking too much time and attention. Gamitin nalang nya sana credentials nya para tulungan nalang ang mga taong hindi makareklamo para sa sarili nila at karanasan nya upang maging mapagmalasakit sa kanila :( This is all about him na kasi.     10. 1.56 your twisted logic is disturbing. Nagcomplain sila dahil being well educated individuals alam nila na hindi dapat ganun ang trato ng direktor sa mga tauhan nya. By holding bullies like Direk Cathy accountable for her appaling behaviour, the professor is helping those long suffering low paid individuals with no voice, no confidence and no fall back jobs to get a FAIR treatment in the future. Dignity and respect are things that everyone should be entitled to, not just for famous people.

      Malaki ang pinagkaiba ng napagsabihan sa murahin at ipahiya sa maraming tao. I work in a small company and I make mistakes, my boss addresses those mistakes in a calm manner pag nasa meeting kami... sinasabihan ako na huwag kong gawin un, and give instructions kung anong tama. After that magsasabi lang ako ng ok.. and follow his instructions. I was only 20 when I started, and my boss understand na inexperienced ako... and look after 5 years, I'm still here. I work abroad and sa filipino co-workers (2 of them) ko lang naexperienced ang bossy and magaspang at naninigaw na attitude instead sa mismong boss ko. Nakakahiya nga eh.
      Minsan may nag suggest na gawin ang isa sa kanilang supervisor, but the boss said 'no', kasi hindi daw fit ang magaspang na ugali nun as a leader.

I have worked with CEO's who have more stressful and demanding jobs than CATTY but they do not resort to such abuse as they have leadership skills and great communication skills and they know fully well and are well educated enough to know that if they misbehave not only will they end up in. The complainant should have received a response on management's action on his complaint, hindi pwede deadma. May proceso naman yan eh.

  29. Obviously they have a big ego in the kapamilya network. Hindi puedeng si CGM lang ang may attitude problem dyan. Nasa culture na yan sa loob ng network. Ewan ko bakit nakaka uto ang network na ito. Magaling lang sila lagi sa marketing strategies at mag hype. Thats just about it, but no substance at all.

    3. my brother who is a graduate of Mass Com felt lucky when he was told he'll be working as OJT in abs-cbn some years back. on his first day, he came home feeling exhausted and wasn't sure if he wants to report the next day, but he did anyway. he said the staff in the department where he was assigned are mostly arrogant pricks who made the lives of OJTs a living hell. he swore that that everyone from the superiors to the staff (worse, even some PAs of abs artists) have the nasty habit of yelling when giving directions to the trainees. he's now working happily in another network whose officers, staff and celebs alike give importance to people, no matter how seemingly "lowly" their jobs are in the station. guess where?

The drawer has enough room for those letters😃😃 Those formal complaints should be filed electronically with corresponding numbers so it can be tracked and the company should provide a resolution. Anyways , HR went through a third party to address the issue and not the complainant themselves who I believe was directly involve with the case. It does not make any sense. Try wiggling your way out haha ha. It must be so rampant that such abusive and violent behaviour has become the norm and is considered as acceptable.How can accompany advocate love or service for the Filipino when they are doing a lot of disservice to their own employees and allow such degradation in their own backyard. May pa core values pa daw! Such lip service! Re orient your employees. Your employees behaviour is a reflection of the company that they work for. If they are working or on the clock their actions should be in compliance with the code of conduct of the company that they work for. Bago mag worldwide ambition daw , clean up your internal mess.

  32. ABS CBN did not have an honest intention to resolve the matter with the couple. That it 'allegedly' attempted to meet with them 'through' the agency was an indication of bad faith because either they intentionally sought to resolve it through that agency instead of directly talking to the couple. Parang goon movie lang ang peg, ABSCBN to the agency : " ayusin mo yang gulo na yan kundi sa iba kami hahanap ng talents, ayoko ng gulo." It was the couple who complaint, ABS has their contact information. It would have been different if ABS directly contacted the couple AND the agency to resolve it. ABS, walk the talk pede? Nawawalan kayo ng moral ascendancy to instill values!

Kasi kahit fan ako ng lizquen somehow nakakatamad na si Cathy ang director at maiisip mo na yung mga moments ng serye ay nagawa behind sa pagmumura at panglalait ng mga tao...tsk tsk!!   37. Ang ugat talaga nyan ay walang iba kundi ang ABS mismo. ang management na nagbibigay ng projects sa mga empleyado (directors/producers) tas i-ru rush nang hindi well-planned.
    In effect, nagkaka ganyan ang mga directors na ipinapasa ang pressure at pagkastress sa staff & artistas.

    kala kasi ng management ng ABS na lahat ng bagay ay makukuha sa pera na porket tao ka nila at may pambayad sila ay kailangan may output whatever it takes.

  41. Hmmm. My analogy to this. If what they say are true why not take action when this happened? They could have asked for civil damages considering how bad the experience was. As you can see all of these are all accusations from different people who may have something against certain people. If what they claim is true bring it to proper platform and not on social media. If you say that ABS is that bad why does GMA suffering now from labor related cases and not ABS? We can all speculate to but the truth is, it will not resolve anything unless they do action and stop throwing accusations just to start bullying.

Ang mga taong walang respeto sa kapwa sa kahit na anong sitwasyon ay hindi dapat pamarisan. Hindi porket mayaman ka, mataas ang stress level mo, politician ka, o di kaya derektor ka ng pelikula ay karapatan mong murahin ang ibang tao. Respeto at dignidad para sa tao. Okey lang gawin mo at pag katapos humingi ka ng tawad. Pero hindi yung attitude na OA at Okey lang yan.....

  43. read somewhere na wag daw idamay ang abs network sa gulo ng isang director nila because she does not represent the vision/mission of the network itself. hello? e bakit everytime gabby lopez delivers a speech laging sinasabing ang employees nila ang strength at backbone ng network nila at kung hindi sa kanila acuchuchuchuchu.... anu yun? may katwiran pala talaga si marcos na isequester yang abs cbn! sana di na binalik sa kanila ni tita cory. bastos na insensitive pa!

  44. It would have been prudent for the complainer to approach the director first rather than airing it publicly and/or thru channels. By doing the way she did, she reduced herself to a bully like the person she's complaining about. Sad.
