I find her beautiful.. ano ba ang definition mo ng kagandahan?
Kelangan practice practice with the twang. Most pinoys easily acquire or learn the American accent naman. No offense, medyo matigas pa dila at panga nya sa pag iingles. Yes, i have a very almost genuine American accent. So Pia can do it as well. I'm surprised she hasn't achieved perfection in this category.
So what kung Filipino accent? Nothing wrong with that! So unpatriotic. As long as straight ang pananalita niya at naiintindihan, perfect na!
Her accent is part of her charm. She does not need to have an American Accent to be eloquent. Look at Malala. I moved to America when I was a teenager and its been almost 15 years. I still have a Pinoy accent and most people find it endearing.
I'm sorry. She doesn't need to acquire the "twang". As a matter of fact, its better if she remains organic and speaks with her natural accent. She speaks fluently and has a good command of the English language, that's what matters most.
Im in the US for 12 years now, at madaming Pilipino dito akala nila may american accent sila pero katawa tawa pa din ang tunog.
almost perfect nga american accent mo pero hanggang commenter ka lang sa FP while Pia is living her life as Miss Universe. Eh ikaw? Pwede ka namang magcomment sa accent nya without showing off. Lol.
American twang is perfection? What if she wants British accent? I prefer the way Pia talks with her "matigas na dila" because that is how us Filipinos speak our own "American twang".
Hindi nya kailangan ang American accent. She is from the Philippines!
Kailangan ba talagang magka twang? I teach English here in NYC, and I do not have a problem with my accent. I speak the language fluently. Over the years, I have aaaimilated quiet a bit but I never really tried so so hard (like my life depended on it) with this accent reduction process because I am comfortable in mt own skin. Going back to Pia, eh ano ngayon kung may accent sya? May American accent ka nga but you do not have any substance at all, at yubg mga sinasabi mo walamg katuturan. Wag na lang. Go get a life. Obviously, your colonual.mentalirt is kicking again.
Sa public speaking class ko before, sinabi ko sa isang activity na medyo naiintimidate ako sa classmates ko kasi di ko first language ang english, hence the typical pinoy accent minsan. Pero sabi nila it's fine daw kasi it's refreshing to hear ibang languages or even just someone with an accent. And naiintindihan naman si Pia when she talks, so ano pa bang problema? Ok lang na magpakatotoo sya.
Anon 1048,does having an American accent make a better person? I beg to disagree. Some Filipinos are very critical of their kababayan having Pinoy accent. I think Filipino accent is pretty. I am proud that the majority of Filipinos can communicate well in the English language.
Do you honestly think having an American twang is very important in expressing yourself in English? Wow! Do you honestly believe that having an American twang will make you an exceptional speaker? Of course not! Oftentimes, speaking with a twang is just an excuse to make up for wrong grammar and misuse of the English language. They are used to hide meaningless and pointless English words. As my Canadian mentor said (yes, many Canadians are more particular with the use of grammar than accent) that most Filipinos speak and express ourselves clearly, pronounce the English words better than any other nation in the world. That is enough. No pretensions with the accent, just be articulate and know what you are talking about.
I think openly gay naman sya, teh. Pero d naman sya Vice Ganda gay or parlorista gay. And there was one time napanood ko sa TMZ sabi nya gusto nya maka date si Harvey Levin so yun na! ;-)
Ate Pia review tayo hindi naman major major kundi minor minor lang naman na naoverlook mo yata gaya ng "somebody win..." better ganito "somebody wins.." at saka yung "steve harvey went up to me" better sana kung ganito "....came up to me". Common mistake nating mga pinoy ang paggamit ng "come" at "go" kc sa lengguahe natin ay pareho lang ang gamit. For eksampel "punta ka dito" in english is "come here" tapos yung "go there" eh "punta ka dun" so we use "punta" for both "come" and "go" kaya confusing sa atin when to use "come" and "go". yan careful tayo dyan lalo na sa interview. As i said minor minor lang and you are doing great though.
Wow, another Grammar Nazi! Yet nobody complains if some other non-English speaking celebrities (like Koreans & Chinese stars) are being interviewed and can't speak Englsih properly). Leave Pia be! She can express herself well! She is straight forward & not a boring interviewee.
I found a somebody i wanna look up to. The way she carries herself, the way she talks, her english, her warmth to the people she mets, her stature, her discipline & determination. Classy, fun, elegant, charming and smart.
All comments are good. We admire Pia and congratulations for winning. We know she can speak English but there is certainly a lot of room for improvement. Good Luck.
Go PIA!!

ReplyDeletevery almost??
DeleteBakit nman kelangan nya magka twang or magkaron ng american accent?
DeleteAs long as you clearly get your point across, who cares about accents? You only need to enunciate your words, no need for twangs.
DeleteI like her accent and I hope she keeps it. It makes her more genuine
DeleteHer accent is part of her charm. She does not need to have an American Accent to be eloquent. Look at Malala. I moved to America when I was a teenager and its been almost 15 years. I still have a Pinoy accent and most people find it endearing.

DeleteKapal mo din.. Aanhin mo naman yang "yang" mo if you are not as articulate as her. Tsk!!
Deleteaccent is not important. marami na bang mababaw sa planetang ito??
DeleteHer accent is cute and not trying hard american accent.
DeleteWhy does she have to have the American accent?
DeleteDoes she really need that "twang"? I mean seriously? There had been winners who can barely speak English. She's fluent, no need for that "twang".
DeleteAchuchu

DeleteHers is a neutral accent and I don't see anything wrong with that. Mas importante yung naiintindihan.
DeleteFor me perfect ang twang nya. Doesn't sound like trying hard like most pinoys trying to achieve american accent for what?!
DeleteWell, you lost me at "I have a very almost genuine.." Lol. Trying hard.
Mas ok yung ganito, mas natural, mas klaro.
