For once I agree with Carla! I brought my toddler son to Manila Zoo a few years back thinking it'll make his day. Turned out the complete opposite. My son got scarred for life! He was so sad that we didn't get to enjoy the trip and left feeling all depressed. Nakakalungkot tlga. Most captives are even older than me. Imagine na lang putting yourself in their shoes. I hope the government would take action.
Manila zoo now is put under the management of Dechaves. A well known crony of erap, and also a very infamous dirty businessman. So surely there are anomalies in the management of manila zoo. So people of manila, look at the politicians u voted for and their cronies that get richer because of it.

Sana man lang inayos nila yung mga paglalagyan ng mga animals, kung hindi nila kayang bigyan ng matinong lugar yung mga animals, wag na lang sana mag zoo. It wasn't the animal's chosen to be taken away from their natural environment, kaya the least zoo owner's could do is mimic their natural environment. Kaso walang kaeffort effort yung mga nagtatayo ng zoo, puro profit lang iniisip.
Sana sa next life mo maging captive na tigre or kahit anong klaseng hayop ka! Para malaman mo yung feeling na habang buhay nakakulong and walang tamang pag-aalaga.
In other Asian countries, additional attractions for both domestic and international visitors ang kanilang zoo/parks whereas in Manila, impossible for the LGUs not to take good care of the place and the animals. Usual reason would be that there is NO FUNDS.
Sabi ni Erap pagagandahin daw niya ang Manila Zoo lalo na noong may mga nagrerequest para ilipat si Mali the elephant sa isang reservation. Yung mga nagrerequest are both local and international organizations at sila na mismo ang gagastos pero ang taas ng pride ng Erap at ayaw pumayag. Kung sa mga tao nga walang kwenta ang trato ng gobyerno, eh di lalo na sa walang kalaban laban at inosenteng mga hayop.

I just hope our government officials will pay more attention to animal rights and strengthen the penalties. Without the animal rights activists, the number of abused animals will skyrocket (which is actually happening now). Sana tulungan naman sila ng gobyerno, wag iasa sa mga rescue volunteers.
