I don't know why third world countries are still heavily invested in beauty pageants. These shouldn't be Philippines's biggest achievements considering that they don't elevate the socioeconomic conditions of the country.
Can't national pride come from something much more significant than trifling pageantries?
Just be happy for the winner at pagpasaya sa pinas kahit saglot lang hehe.
You gotta wonder why the most overzealous viewers of Miss Universe and other international beauty pageants come from the Philippines and Central/South America. The economic standings of these countries are inversely correlated to the degree of enthusiasm they have for superficial measurements. This is why beauty contests have little to no weight in developed western countries. In fact, they consider them to be a joke, and the only reason why the most recent Miss Universe made wave was because it strengthened that very perception: a laughing stock.
I'm sure you've read the exchanges between Colombians and Filipinos on instagram. It's a pathetic display of national pride. If only those people steered their passion in more profound ideas and events, their societal conditions might actually improve for a change.

If anyone here is "utak talangka," it's you. And you know it.
Mahirap kausap.
Grabe yung batch ng beauty queens natin this year huh... kung kasali ako pero hindi nakakuha ng korona feeling ko medyo mahihiya ako... Anyways, congrats!!!
