Repost: Jason Ivler Convicted of Murder in Road Rage Slay

A local court has found Jason Ivler, nephew of folk singer Freddie Aguilar, guilty of murder for the 2009 road rage killing of the son of a former Palace official.

Judge Luisito Cortez of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 84 found Ivler guilty of killing Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. during a traffic altercation in Santolan, Quezon City on November 18, 2009.

Ivler has been sentenced with reclusion perpetua or a minimum jail term of 30 years. He was also ordered to give the family of the road rage victim P9 million as indemnification.

Ebarle Jr., the son of former presidential chief of staff undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., died of three gunshot wounds after the altercation.

Ivler was arrested at the basement of his mother Marlene Aguilar's house on January 18, 2010. He and a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent were injured as they exchanged fire during the operation.

Boy Evangelista of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption welcomed the conviction of Ivler.

''Natutuwa kami. Malaking tagumpay ito sa justice system natin. Halos six years ito. It took the family almost 6 years…It will be sending a very strong message,'' Evangelista said.

    5. Andun naman tayo sa pinag-aaralan yan. But it won't deny the fact kung gaano kabagal at bulok ang hustisya sa atin.

    6. 9:24 justice delayed is justice denied especially guilty man or not guilty ang verdict. mabagal talaga ang justice system ng pinas. isipin mo kung not guilty tapos tumigil ang mundo ng taong nasasakdal pati pamilya nya ng maraming taon

  2. Good thing nakuha na nila ang hustisya kahit may kabagalan. It's totally better than not having justice at all. I wish the family of Mr. Ebarle Jr. can find peace now that this ordeal has come to an end.

  11. dapat lang makulong dahil obvious naman na nagkasala. yung case nya is just too obvious na wala na iba pang pwedeng version. on another note, for his own good din na makulong sya kasi hindi malayo maulit nya makapatay ng inosente based sa ugali nya. ako mismo nagagwapuhan sa kanya pero ganyan talaga. malay natin yan jail time pala would give him the breakthrough that he needs para umayos na buhay nya.
