This thobe is just a regular all day office wear and everyday wear for arabs here in mideast. They are even selling this outfit to non muslims in the market. When you go for a desert safari tour, they will take you all to a camp with grilled food and belly dancing. Part of the package you paid for is also to be able to try and wear this type of clothes for picture taking purposes. I don't see anything wrong if it was worn by EB hosts in the Phil. Its halloween and it was just used as a costume like the other ones. Chill!

If you go here in the middle east hindi naman tlga nila gnagamit yan just for praying(well some) but most of the time lalo na sa mga babae for culture nlng and fashion. I grew up in the Middle East and you can freely buy and wear thob if you wanted to. Kahit hindi ka muslim. They even have these in photo studios para makapag pa-picture ka wearing a thob. the way other people think is funny. too shallow. aren't they aware of halloween parties and how it is celebrated? some people dress up as fruits (ie watermelon, oranges, and the like) while some are dressed as their favorite moviestars or cartoon characters. some even portray priests or nuns but the catholic community never made it a big deal. the only time muslims would react and take offense on this is when the ones who wore this as halloween costumes do something that would trigger fear on the way others look at the muslims or when they do something embarrassing that would cause shame on the part of the muslims. besides that, i think it is completely okay to have this as a costume. and also, wouldnt this raise awareness on their existence ?

It's not like in Saudi where it's a normal thing. Here in the Philippines syempre hindi naman ganun lagi ang suot namin, we save it for our special festivals like Eid after Ramadhan and Hajj. Kumbaga pa it's more dressed up than the usual prayer attires namin kasi nga may banal na okasyon. So the fact na gagamitin lang pang Halloween costume is insulting. Siguro kung Muslim mismo yung sumuot. E kaso ang sumuot knows nothing about our culture. Appropriation at its finest.

Sometimes people try to hide under the veneer of discrimination to hide their lack of self esteem or in competencies But making this an issue is very laughable. For starters it is a garb or clothing worn by non Muslim as well. Secondly, the clothing is predominantly worn by Arabs. Practice the Muslim faith does mean you have Arabic origins or ancestry. When you go for a desert safari tour, they will take you all to a camp with grilled food and belly dancing. Part of the package you paid for is also to be able to try and wear this type of clothes for picture taking purposes. I don't see anything wrong if it was worn by EB hosts in the Phil. Its halloween and it was just used as a costume like the other ones. Chill!

If you go here in the middle east hindi naman tlga nila gnagamit yan just for praying(well some) but most of the time lalo na sa mga babae for culture nlng and fashion. Even my friend who is a muslim didn't take it seriously. Not bec it's halloween doesn't mean nakakatakot lang ang sinusuot at pananakot lang ang theme. ReplyDeletethe way other people think is funny. too shallow. aren't they aware of halloween parties and how it is celebrated? some people dress up as fruits (ie watermelon, oranges, and the like) while some are dressed as their favorite moviestars or cartoon characters. some even portray priests or nuns but the catholic community never made it a big deal. the only time muslims would react and take offense on this is when the ones who wore this as halloween costumes do something that would trigger fear on the way others look at the muslims or when they do something embarrassing that would cause shame on the part of the muslims. besides that, i think it is completely okay to have this as a costume. and also, wouldnt this raise awareness on their existence ?

Sometimes people try to hide under the veneer of discrimination to hide their lack of self esteem or in competencies But making this an issue is very laughable. For starters it is a garb or clothing worn by non Muslim as well. Secondly, the clothing is predominantly worn by Arabs. Practice the Muslim faith does mean you have Arabic origins or ancestry. So stop playing the victimization issue or persecution drama. My Arab friends did not find it offensive and they are highly educated and well adjusted to play the victim or persecuted complex. ReplyDeleteMerong satire comedy show sa Saudi pangalan Tash Ma Tash, ginagawang katatawanan mga gawain sa sosyedad ng mga arabo kung minsan pati relihiyon nila. Ang mga bida nakasuot din ng Thobe pareho kay Tito Sen. Minsan lang ito sa isang taon ipalabas, kaya lang hindi Halloween, tuwing banal na buwan ng Ramadan. Ang english translation daw ng Tash Ma Tash ayon sa Wikipedia e, "No big Deal!"

Bakit naman kami sa school pag trick or treat day we dreww up as cinderella, an elem student in uniform, a male teacher wearing female teacher uniform, a doctor or a nurse etc. it doesn't necessarily mean na poke halloween party eh pang nakakatakot na damit ang isusuot mo. although maybe the Muslims take great pride in wearing their national costume and they deem it an honor to wear one. Yun dapat ang irespeto nitong mga EB hosts kasi kanya kanyang paniniwala yan eh. i guess these hosts should've thought twice before donning this costume.
