I love Aiai's positive vibe.
Actually yung X meaning nya is Christ sa Hebrew (not sure sa kung anong language) but sabi ng.philo prof namin na nag aral, nagresearch at tumulong magtranslate ng bible, tama naman daw yan, hindi snshortcut
I think sa greek ata. I'm not too sure bsta may basis yan and X is actually used as an alternative. So wag masyado gawing bigdeal because it is not wrong to use it.
Actually okay lang naman gamitin ang Xmas. Kasi sa Christian church ang letter X is widely used as direct abbrev. for Christ.. i have nothing against Ms ai. May nagsabi lng din naman daw sa kanya... pero for the information of everyone... ginagamit talaga ang X or Xp na symbols for christ and im not making this up. You can search the net about Xmas and Chi Rho... :)
Mali naituro sa'yo. X doesn't represent Christ. Christ's Day. Christmas. For your information.
'X' is actually greek representing the initial chi which is Khrytos (greek for Christ)
Excuse me Ms. Ai but spelling Christmas as Xmas is not just a shortcut nor removing Christ from Christmas. In Greek, Christmas first syllable is spelled with an X. X in Greek is Chi which means Christ. Kaya that is acceptable. What is not acceptable is making Santa Claus the center of Xmas especially for kids. He's everywhere, from movies, to songs, to decorations and to xmas stories.
Malaking Check!Basa basa din Ai-Ai.Mema lang kasi.Pari na mismo nagsabi dati tanda ko pa bagets pa ako nun,X is not a shortcut. And tama din si Anon 1:52,si Christ ang gawing center ng Christmas not Santa Clause. And Ms.Ai-Ai ano Tagalog ng Pasko?
Below is what I found; and remember Greek language came before most other languages including English.
Myth: “Xmas” is a non-religious name / spelling for “Christmas”.
It turns out, “Xmas” is not a non-religious version of “Christmas”. The “X” is actually indicating the Greek letter “Chi”, which is short for the Greek, meaning “Christ”. So “Xmas” and “Christmas” are equivalent in every way except their lettering.
natatandaan ko years ago sa isang sermon ng pari na dapat nga daw hindi ishortcut ang word na christmas into xmas... madaming meaning kasi ang X.. mostly negative...
X = censored o may part sa isang article or movie na limited or unacceptable
X = pag hindi check, X... mali, wrong
X = widely used in algebra as unknown value
But the church itself accepts X as a symbol of christ so nothing wrong with it. Try to research about X in a more religious aspect and youll find out the deeper meaning of it.
Salamat sa mga nakaalala from Theology class at nag-research. Pwede po ang Xmas. (Reasons from others above) Pero I personally prefer wrting Christmas.
ito din ang alam ko dati. hindi daw dapat xmas. i also heard a priest say this. but when i asked another priest who knows greek, pwede daw ang xmas. because X stands for Christ. but to be on the safe side, hindi naman big effort kung ifull mo ang CHRISTMAS. madali lang yan.
Tama naman talaga. I agree w/ Ai ai kahit minsan annoying sya.
ReplyDeleteTama! Dapat naman talaga Christmas at hindi Xmas.
ReplyDeleteI love Aiai's positive vibe.

Ung x dun is christ..
Delete12:42 & 2:10 yung totoo classmates kau?
I'm not too sure bsta may basis yan and X is actually used as an alternative. So wag masyado gawing bigdeal because it is not wrong to use it.
DeleteIt's Greek. Yung nakikita minasan sa mga pulpit and priests' vestments na XP (or Chi Rho) are the first letters of Christ's name.

Christmas.

I super agree ms. Aiai!
ReplyDeleteSoo true... Jesus Christ is the reason for the season so please do not remove Christ on Christmas
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ms. Ai. Parang kasi kapag ginamit mo ang Xmas, parang inekis (X) mo si Jesus eh CHRISTmas means celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. :)
ReplyDeleteTry to study "x" means christ, which means it is acceptable as an alternative. Hay naku makapuna lang idol mo.
DeleteAgree!!!

Never in my life na shortcut ko ang christmas sa text, letter and whatnot.
ReplyDeletePlease do a research also if you wish.

ReplyDeleteYan din sabi ng pari namin years ago. Siguro they need to do research din bago mag sermon.
ReplyDeletedaming ignorant.... hahaha.... xmas is acceptable. don't be sooooo literal.
ReplyDeletehahaha.... another perfect example of ignorance.... #researchdin
ReplyDeleteNaguilty ako.... In most houses nga si Santa yung star e. Hindi si Jesus.
