I didn't find anything wrong with Karen's line of questioning and Karen hit it right in the nail when Alma said 'kelangan ko pa bang sagutin yan?' and Karen said 'of course you're running for the Senate'. It was not Karen who put Alma in a shameful position...it was Alma herself.

Alma knows what the subject would be and it is about her running for senatorial post. She should have prepared herself for that. Excuse you. I hope not all Filipinos are like you. Have you seen Filipino activist? Have you seen Filipino protesters? I always see them. They don't speak English at all, either. But you know what the difference is? They know the issues at hand. They know their topics. They know their subject. They know what they are fighting for. there are different types of people - different social styles. one can either be driving, analytic, expressive, or amiable. there should be different ways that you ask the same question to different people. and to get the best answer from someone, the manner of asking should be based on his/ her social style. otherwise, nagpakapagod lang yung nagtatanong. unless she was not expecting an answer at gusto lang nyang magpakitang-gilas.
So the style of questioning to Alma and Poe, when she was running for senate, regarding current issues and constitution should be in diff manner? And if KD rephrase her question and with compassion, you think Alma will able to answer it with sense? And if Alma got a seat in senate, during debate, the senators should adjust for her?

Mr. Calvento Karen has done nothing wrong during the interview. You said that you are wondering why the handler of Alma Moreno agreed for a live interview. And to quote you "Its a fatal mistake." Regardless of whether she is articulate in english or not, the point is, she should know the basic issues of this country. She is running for a Senator and not a councilor. And to think that she served a councilor for Paranaque in a long time, she should have a basic understanding of the current issues in the Philippines. In the senate there is no take two. What are you expecting her to ask Alma Moreno? Showbiz questions? Alma Moreno should come to the show more prepared. In fact, since she is running for senator, she must make sure that she makes herself knowledgeable on issues concerning country. These same issues she will deal with at the Senate. If you want to be respected, you should learn to respect the Filipino people who you are serving. Why run for senator if you know within yourself that you are not equipped to be one. Hmmm. I think at the national level, politicians should be prepared. Hindi naman tagalog ang mga batas sa pilipinas. Ang posisyong gustong makamit ni alma moreno ay mambabatas. Dapat umasal sya ng nararapat para sa posisyon. Hindi dapat isisi kay karen davila ang kakulangan ni alma moreno. Palagay ko, kahit sinong mag interview sa kanya tungkol sa national issues, mapupulaan. Hindi ito teleserye - may inaapi at may nang-aapi. Usapin ito ng politika sa pilipinas. ReplyDeleteSorry but i can't agree with you, Mr. Calvento. Guesting Alma in the show would have given her the opportunity to prove to all doubting that she in fact is qualified for the position. I didn't find anything wrong with Karen's line of questioning and Karen hit it right in the nail when Alma said 'kelangan ko pa bang sagutin yan?' and Karen said 'of course you're running for the Senate'. It was not Karen who put Alma in a shameful position...it was Alma herself.

I find her too arrogant when questioning and most times too careless that I would like to call her the Kris Aquino of newscasters. However, I really don't find anything wrong in her interview of Alma Moreno. Inalalayan niya pa nga. Nagtagalog siya sa mga dapat magtagalog siya at pinalitan ang topic ng mas simple at controversial para makarelate si Alma. Since the interview is live, what should she have done? Makipagtawanan nalang? Come on! That would also be an insult to the show and her audience. Well, Alma could have simply refused to answer or should have been honest. But no, she pretended too hard. So Karen played Alma's game too. Kailangan ng tao ang ganyang mga interview. Lalo na sa bansang nananalo ang kandidato dahil kilala ang pangalan, kahit walang kapasidad mamuno. It gives everyone a fair chance, hindi lang ang masa, na malaman kung sino at ano ang ilalagay nila sa pwesto.
ReplyDeleteAlma knows what the subject would be and it is about her running for senatorial post. She should have prepared herself for that. People need to know what she has to offer and her opinions on issues that matter. Karen is just doing her job and that is to help the public "voters" make informed decisions. If you watch other episodes of Karen with other politicians / political candidates, she does grill them by asking relevant questions. In a way, you really have have to sell yourself or prove your worth through your credentials, what you can deliver, etc -- Alma failed to do that... obviously, she did not even meet the minimum requirement sorry to say...

What gave most people pause was that Karen was supposed to be impartial, communicated w her guest using language and a manner that the guest could understand and respond to. For me, it's not pagpapahiya. It's disseminating info in a way na Madaming Tao ang makakaalam. She tweeted a direct quote. And the quote came from alma. It's not something Karen said.
Wag kasi puro teleserye ang inaatupag baks, kaya kala mo api-apihan ang peg dito eh kung tutuusin ganyan na si Karen Davila kahit yung mga previous guests niya ni-reRT niya yang mga mismong sagot nila walang dagdag, walang bawas... Alma may not be intelligent, pero por Diyos por Santo, Karen invted Alma to be interviewed, at tinanggap naman ni Alma - eh di sana she could have been kinder to her. Alam naman ng lahat at hindi naan lihim na hindi bihasa si Alma sa English, tulad ni Nora, tulad ni Juday, tulad nang marami na mga sikat at marami din naman sa mismong press people ay pilit din mag English at hind maalam sa mga current events or eoconomic issues. Hindi lang yung tungkol sa Parañaque. 9 years nga daw siya na dun diba, so that should be enough time to know and understand the issues. Paano na ang contribution niya sa Senate kung wala siyang alam? So habang nakaupo siya (if ever) eh saka lang niya pag-aaralan? Nakakaloka ka rin eh.

Kahit na mag english ng mag english ng katatanong sakanya si Karen kung naiintidihan niya ang topic ng tanong masasagot ni alma kahit magtagalog pa siya. What is your actual point by insinuating that Ms. Davila intentionally embarrassed Ms. Moreno. Are you saying that morons and stupid people highly deserve to serve the people of the Philippines when obviously they just want to fatten their pockets and wallets. Malaking bagay ito sa akin at alam kong pati rin sa kapwa ko Pilipino, dahil karapatan nating malaman kung karapat-dapat ba silang iboto. Anuman ang sabihin nila, naniniwala akong nakatulong ang interview na ito sa Desisyon na ating gagawin sa darating na eleksyon.

I don't understand why Alma Moreno should be treated differently from other political candidates. Why should she be given a handicap? Honestly... I'm so fed up with people like you who stirs away from the real issue. The real issue is that this person is running as a senator... Just like any other senatorial candidate... she needs to portray her ability to guide others by knowing the issues in the Philippines and having an idea how to present a solution.
ReplyDeleteI think Karen D. did her job well. I think she did what she was supposed to do. She asked the questions she was supposed to ask and I'm certain she'd ask the same questions, irregardless of who the person she's interviewing is.
Furthermore, no matter how much of a proud Filipino patriot you are, rules/guidelines/regulations are probably often written in English Mr. Calvento. How do you expect this person to know what she's doing if she can't even understand simple English questions?
I thought you were a smart person Mr. Calvento. Obviously, I was completely wrong. You stray away from the real issue. She was asked questions the same way other candidates would be asked. There's no bullying. If anything... Alma Moreno exposed her own inability and lack of understanding in regards to Philippine issues.
I think Karen D. did the Filipino people a great service.
I agree with 4: 49. Alma is the applicant , Karen is the interviewer, at ang mga PIlipino ang Panel or Owner ng kumpanya. Gugustuhin mo bang mag hire ng unqualified na applicante at sasabihan mo ang interviewer mo take it easy on her at baka mapahiya..Better that she knows what she is getting into. Tayo ang magswe sweldo sa kanya.

Maraming paraan para ipahiya ng host ang mga guest pero wala namang bahid ng kahit ano ang mga tanong ng binato sa guest. Di naman ako nandiri kay Alma kapag sumasagot sa Tagalog. So san napahiya si Alma? Kasi di cya makasagot sa tanong? Baka kinakabahan siya nung interview at nagpanic. Kasi daw minamadali cyang sumagot? Aba less than 30 mins lang yung show hindi cya pelikula para ilahad ng kanyang kwento. Hindi sya makasagot kc di nya alam yung probisyon ng RH bill? Hindi naman siya ginisa ni Karen, bagkus tinulungan pa syang palawakin ang kanyang sagot ukol sa isyu. So, san sya napahiya?
ReplyDeletethere are different types of people - different social styles. one can either be driving, analytic, expressive, or amiable. there should be different ways that you ask the same question to different people. and to get the best answer from someone, the manner of asking should be based on his/ her social style. otherwise, nagpakapagod lang yung nagtatanong. unless she was not expecting an answer at gusto lang nyang magpakitang-gilas.

ReplyDeleteMr. Calvento Karen has done nothing wrong during the interview. You said that you are wondering why the handler of Alma Moreno agreed for a live interview. And to quote you "Its a fatal mistake." Regardless of whether she is articulate in english or not, the point is, she should know the basic issues of this country. She is running for a Senator and not a councilor. And to think that she served a councilor for Paranaque in a long time, she should have a basic understanding of the current issues in the Philippines. In the senate there is no take two. She should come prepared and anticipate what questions that would be asked to her. We should learn from the past and we should scrutinize every candidate who wants to go public office. Di pede ang puso lang kelangan may malinaw na plataporma. In case of Alma, she said she is for women, but it was very cleary she had no clear plans of want she would like to implement or improve when she will be elected. In short, she can be considered a nuisance candidate. She only had herself to blame.

At bakit wala ni isa man sa partido nya na UNA and dumipensa para sa kanya? Also, bakit hanggang ngayon wala ni isa man na councilor na ka-legislation ang nagde-defend sa kanya? Senatorial bid ang gusto nya maging position, paano maaasahan gumawa yan ng magandang batas kung hindi nya alam ang problema ng bansa sa kasalukuyan? Parang studyante lang yan eh, kapag alam mo may exam ka at pumasok ka na hindi nagrereview, or on the spot kn magreview sigurado bagsak ang grade na makukuha mo.
