Exuding Humility Instead of Pride

When he was a young boy living in one of the nearby provinces, Highly Improved Talent (IT) dreamed of helping his family get out of their financial predicament. With only his looks to his advantage, IT really did not have much to look forward to until he met a Kind Person (KP). Being new to the city, IT did not have a place to stay and thus, KP allowed him to stay with him.

Sensing that IT has potential, KP used his connections to jumpstart the journey of IT towards fame. KP entered IT into various male pageants for exposure and for gaining confidence. Slowly, IT was learning how to move with the flow of the times. He had a dream and here was one person patiently helping him achieve it.

Finally, IT got his biggest chance. He landed a slot in a reality show and the rest is history. The network took care of his career by giving him various major projects. At first, IT was criticized for his poor acting, and after several projects, he was still not as good as expected. While some were dismissing IT as a flop, he persisted and gave his best in his movies and other media appearances. As IT gained fame, he and KP lost contact. It seemed that KP just disappeared from his life just like that.

Every so often stories would crop us on how famous celebrities snub and ignore the first people who had helped them in the business. Of course, this behavior is not surprising as money can sometimes change attitude negatively. Gone is humility and is replaced by overflowing belief in oneself.

As years passed, IT has proven to be one of the reliable performers of his station. Having no qualms on baring his body, he did what was instructed. After movies and soaps, people noticed that he has improved in his acting. He was now better able to get into the character of the role assigned to him.

One day, IT accidentally met a friend who also knows KP. Instead of hating his past, IT asked how KP was doing. He was told that KP had already moved out and the beauty parlor was no more. IT then asked where he could find KP. He wanted to see him again. He even gave money through the friend to help KP. He said that he was thankful for all the work KP had done for him, and that it was his time to give back to KP.

Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. -Brian Tracy
