Violating Etiquette to Show She Has Had Enough

Behaving in a public place can sometime take its toll on celebrities. However, celebrities cannot just act without thinking that their public scene can be taken against their image. Most seasoned celebrities have learned to display their best behavior and to keep their cool despite trying situations.

Sometime ago, Former Icon (FI) was seen having a late snack at a patisserie. FI was obviously relaxing in the small place that could fit less than 20 individuals. FI did not seem to be bothered by the fact that she was alone at her table. Other customers did not seem to bother her. As FI continued eating, a young child started to cry incessantly. Other diners looked at the child, but were bothered, as the parents did not bother to pacify the child.

As if the noise was not enough, FI suddenly answered a call and placed it on speakerphone, which reverberated in the small room. Thus, the loud voice coming from the phone and that of the crying child jolted the tiny space. After a few minutes, FI ended her call, while the child continued crying regardless of the attention the parents finally gave. Another person joined FI, and they left as soon as FI was done eating.

Initially, the action of FI seemed to be her way of calling attention to herself. The height of her popularity came a few decades ago when her films made money at the box office thanks to the myth of a certain piece of clothing. A series of life events as well as her personal struggles made her lose that position. Over the years, FI would bounce back after every setback. At present, FI has to be contented with supporting roles to today’s stars and non-recognition by the younger generation.

On hindsight, FI could have been giving a message as to why she placed the call on speaker mode. Perhaps, FI, like other diners, was already bothered by the crying child. Her action could have stressed that point. Instead of speaking to the parents, FI reacted in her own way. Actions do speak louder than words at times.

‘Anytime anybody is rude, it makes me double-check my own behavior to make sure I don't do that to other people.’ - Patricia Heaton

  2. But sometimes children can't be pacified lalo kung may nararamdaman. Sana habaan din ang pasensiya ng iba. You were once a child and your gave your parents a hard time with your incessant wailing that they couldn't help.

    1. Yes. Ang bata Hindi maka pag communicate but responsibility ng parents to pacify at Kung di mapakalma ang bata, take the baby outside. I have a daughter at sometimes nahihiya ako Kung nah ta tantrums. Feeling ng iba entitled sila dahil bata. Wrong, respect sa fellow diners dapat

    4. If you read carefully,it say "the parents did not bother to pacify the child." It's extremely irritating when parents do that. If the kid isn't feeling well then the more na they have to pay attention to the child. Just saying :) Byee!

    5. Actually it's better for the child if you take him/her out of the place for a bit just to talk/find out what really is the matter and even divert the attention to something else. It's rude to let the child wail in the presence of other people. Also, if you suspect that the baby is sick, why take her/him out?

    6. Teh the only way babies communicate is through crying. It's up to the adult to find out what it is (change diaper, hungry, uncomfortable, in pain etc).

    8. At saka most CRs sa US have a baby station where the baby can lie down, feel comfortable and you can change diaper or bottle milk to pacify a crying baby. Just take the baby out of the public. While everybody should understand the baby, the parents should also sympathize with the public by taking the baby out, in a secluded place like CR. The public is entitled to enjoy their lunch or dinner also.

    9. I understand na inevitable yung ganitong situations with kids pero kaya nga sila may parents para iattend yung needs nila. Parang sa Church. Why would parents let their kids talk loudly while the mass is on going or even inside cinemas when ALL OF US are meant to be just as silent. I think responsibility ng parents yan kasi hindi naman alam nung mga bata what there are doing.

    10. 12:17 no one is blaming the child. Not the child's fault but the PARENTS! they are supposed to find out what ails the child. Not ignore him/her whan bawling in discomfort. Putting phone on speaker is a hint. A very good but non combative one. Besides who can hear anything with the noise? If that were the States or a fine dining establishment? The party with child will be thrown out

  3. FI - S

She didn't say anything to the parents but she's disturbed, thus the loudspeaker conversation. Other people will go ballistic when a child goes on crying without the companions doing anything to pacify him/her. Some parents should be more considerate in public. As it is, you already see viral videos of children falling from lifts from negligence or plane passengers having a mile-high fight from kids creating havoc who are not stopped by parents.
