    4. To be fair most of the albums by these lip synch-ing celebs are for novelty value only. They are there to make their fans 'kilig' that their idols are singing something for them. It's not meant to be taken seriously as in singing in a live musical or opera. #eachtotheirown

    9. hahaha tama anon 2:01 AM .....

  2. Lipsynch is fine when required but auto tune is hilarious for anyone wanting to be taken seriously as a singer (cough cough Maja, Kathryn etc).

Music is a matter of taste. People will buy what the album that they want. Its called FREEDOM of CHOICE.

  4. Hahahahaha.. spot on ms. Lea.

      Delete
    3. Because majority of these consumers are victims of mind & taste conditioning. These hype and exaggeration tactics downgrade the standards just so they can capitalize on it. Not even win-win for the entirety, select na nga yumayaman lalo pa binababa ang standards. I understand it's a personal choice and pera nila yan. But Lea's point is so relevant and timely.

      Delete
    4. then where's your sense of dignity if you have. mahiya nga kayo, ipapamukha nyu pang kahit basura ok lng basta't may bumibili, tse! pera-pera sa inyo, but how about to the rest who want to promote the genuineness of the craft, niyuyurakan nyu lang, sino ngayon mas nakakahiya!

      Delete

      Delete
  6. Uso din ata ang autotune sa Hollywood. I think singers from 70's and 80's are really better singers kaysa ngayon. And old songs bring back a lot of good memories. Ngayon ang mga kanta. Puro about sex, twerking and freaky stuff. Puro pa bad language. I hope they make songs like Barry Manilow or ung mga oldies. May sense. May puso.

    ReplyDelete

    1. There are naman. Pero it's a business so siguro yung nakakarating sa mainstream or yung nadidinig mo lang ay ganon ang concept but there are thousands of songs produced in a day. I cannot say as much here in PH though. The point is, kung malaki ang market na pinag-shinshare-an ng mga singers, non-singers at entertainers then people should learn selective listening. Patronize the offering that fits you and stay true to your core, do not be persuaded na porket mainstream, yun na lang bibilhin mo.

      Delete
    2. Wag naman igeneralize ang lahat ng kanta. Marami pa din namang songs na may sense at may substance maybe di mo pa lang narinig.

      Delete

Di man sya bumida uli sa Miss Saigon madami pa ring roles sa Broadway that will suit her age.

Lea tama na or Lea nakikisawsaw. Read and re-read. She has a point.

  13. Every artists out there lip-synch. Huge foreign entertainers such as Beyonce or K-POP groups also lip-synch because of either certain environmental factors (i.e. huge LOUD crowd) or the demand of intense choreography in certain songs. So I agree there are times that there will come a time to lip-synch.

In the case of non-singers (how ever you want to categorize them: entertainers, comedians, etc.), of course they're gonna lip-synch the **** out of there own songs; that's why they're non-singers! It depends on the consumers if they want to buy that said "album." I think songs for non-singers are just a waste of creative efforts because some of these original songs have content and substance and its being wasted on a non-singer.

    3. Because you are eating up a portion of the market shares with your trash. Just because you have the resources and connections to hype up your trash and condition people to buy it, doesn't mean you HAVE to capitalize on it. To make it simple, huwag mong bigyan ng basura as option ang isang tao kung ayaw mong maisip niyang maging kuntento nalang sa basura.

Kumikita sa basura o walang nabebenta at all?

      Delete
    6. 1:52 parang sure na sure kang bibili ang mga consumers ah. bakit wala bang pirated na mas mura. kaya nabibili ang mga album ng non singers dahil may fan base sila at mas mura ang album nila. kayang kaya ng bulsa at kayang kaya ng fans gawing platinum. dont shove your idiotic idea down our throat dahil ang totoong dahilan mahal ang album ng mga legit singers kaya ang next option ng consumers is to buy pirated.

      Delete
    7. LOL, anon 1:52. Relax lang. Wala namang conditioning na nagaganap, or at least I don't see it that way. There IS hype, as these nonsingers are popular celebs with huge fandoms, pero wala namang mind conditioning na ganap. Normal marketing lang naman ang nangyayari. Sadyang supportive (or fanatic) lang talaga ang ibang fans.

      Delete
    8. 1:52 Kayo jan ang cultured at magaling diba? Why do you need the market ng gusto ng basura?

    2. Because you are a victim of hype and exaggeration. Bakit kami nangingialam? Just because people like you have fallen into the trap of mediocrity, doesn't mean we will just allow the degradation of societal standards as a whole. Kung hinagayaan mo sarili mo ma-kundisyon ng industriya, people like us are here to contradict their motives through opinions like Lea's.

      Delete
    3. 1:57 And who are you or Lea to become authorities of what everybody should like?

      Delete
    4. Huwaw, anon 1:57. Ito na ba ang hudyat ng himagsikan?

      Delete
  28. you may not like Lea sometimes, but often, she makes good points. in addition though, the producers have some responsibilities as well. kung tatanggalin mo sa market ang option na yan (fake singers/bad actors) at yong mga magagaling ang pagpipilian, tatalino rin ang consumers. yong mga sinasabing autotune sa US di naman tumatagal career nila, pero dito sa atin ilang beses pa nagkaka-sales award.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's exactly the point. They are creating trash options.

      Delete
  29. It's all about consumerism. These die-hard fans of non-singers are the ones who 1) buys the album hence its Gold or Platinum successes 2) watches the variety shows that showcases the non-singers' "talents" while TV companies bombard these shows with tons of commercials for of course company profits.

So you can't take away the fact that maybe the network behind these talents are sparking these non-singers' passage to the music industry.

    ReplyDelete

The blame should rest on ABS-CBN and Star Magic alone!

Kasi they are the ones who included in their non-singer artists' contracts an album. I am from ABS and that is the truth, parte yan ng kontrata nila.

Be honest. Its all about demand. And as far as i know, lugmok na ang OPM music industry bago pa dumating ang mga artistang singers...

  32. Come on! too much spotlight given to this lip synch issue. If you don't like to watch or hear these non-singers, then don't watch or listen to them. You always have a choice. Patay nyo TV nyo edi tapos... makinig kayo sa gustong ninyong pakinggan na music. No one is forcing you to like the way they perform. Feeling entitled kasi tong mga 'to, rant nang rant. Si Ms. Lea, may K siya magsalita... but you see hindi niya hinuhusgahan yung mga non-singers 'cause she knows the fact that this isn't the ideal world wherein the real singers lang ang nangingibabaw. 38. I agree about the lip-synching when in a very noisy venue (e.g. Superbowl, sold out concerts, etc.). Don't underestimate thousands of fans screaming at the top of their lungs all at the same time kasi umaabot yun sa deafening noise levels. You won't be able to hear your own voice, so you won't be able to tell if you're in the right tune.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Spot on Ms. Lea! we all know how incredible she is when it comes to her craft.. may karapatan siyang magsabi nyan and all non-singers should not be offended.

I've no issues spending for albums I'd listen to again and again, and perhaps, with luck, something my kids would also appreciate once they are over the nursery songs phase. Just as I've adored Carpenters, Bee Gees, Bread, etc as a teenager from vinyl records my parents had bought at least 10-15 years before I was born. Sadly, for local or foreign records as of now, there aren't much that are for keeps.

  50. Well auto-tune indeed lowered the standards. Do you really think 90% of the popstars we have now will be famous without it? LOL. Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Kesha, etc.

At least back in the day, you need to have marginal singing talent to survive (e.g. Madonna). Gone were the days that tje superstars were actual vocal gods and goddesses (e.g. Aretha, Dionne Warwick, Etta James, Cher, mariah carey, whitney, celine, etc.)

Ang baba na ng standards ngayon. Basta marketable ang image, OK na. Diba Rachelle Ann Go?

  51. Teng Lea, it's now always the law of supply and demand. Do you really think iphones and apple watches and other such gadgets became popular because of demand? No. They became popular by first being available to the public and being advertised as something the people "need" to have. If the record companies would stop producing albums for these non-singers, then the fantards will have no reason to buy them.

    1. Funny ka. Apple products are not being made available just like tapos advertised to make them see the need. In fact, it goes through understanding the demand first via test markets. That's where they also try to understand how they will create the need further or kill the idea instead. So yes, the law of supply & demand holds TRUE. Be careful with the ideas you share. Lol

I really admire her conviction on select issues that matter to hear and what should be looked into by the society. TRUE, its the consumers that dictates the market dynamics. Conversations like this can help shift it back to the old high standards and negate the conditioning of minds & tastes that these labels are capitalizing on. Wake up!!!

Gets mo Raph? 59.

I'm sure he didn't mean it like totally lip synching is a no-no. feeling ko the message has underlying meaning din. aside from nagpaparinig siya don sa mga singers na maarte for some reasons kaya ayaw maglive, eh maybe his post was also to refer to non-singers, challenging them to sing live para magkaalaman na kung deserving or hindi. anyway, hindi ko alam ba't naging issue 'to. sumisigaw ng freedom of speech, pero pag may nagpahayag ng opinyon binu-bully. ano ba talaga gusto nyo, ha?

  71. This should be a non-issue. I find this a form of censorship and entitlement. Just like anything, it's a supply and demand issue. Pag walang bumibili ng album, nobody's going to produce albums for "non-singers." Nobody has the right to say, you can't make an album kasi hindi ka singer. First of all, the money used to produce those albums are not coming from "real" diners own pockets, so why be affected. If you don't like it, don't buy or listen to it. But you can't tell other people what not to buy or listen to. You can't tell people not to make albums dahil Hindi sila singers. It's nobody business what others want to do with their time and money. Simple as that. Don't be bitter. Just do your own thing, kung may talent and followers ka may bibili din album mo.

To Lea & Gary na may napatunayan na, tell the "real singers" to step up para pwede silang makipagsabayan sa "non-singers"

  76. Hey peeps.... both bashers and lovers.... as history dictates.... Lea is Lea. She may not be perfect at all sorts but think again... she's the perfect epitome of what a real talented singer should be. Hands down. No question about that. People who's following her in all her Social media accounts are LUCKY people. They will learn so much from what she have to say. And i am more than lucky than most of her followers because i've seen her in some of her shows.... Miss Saigon in particular. My respect to her as an artist is far beyond my love for music. I'm not a singer but listening to her urged me to sing like a real pro. When living the dream.... she's the best inspiration i can think of... Going back to her posts.... it's spot on... direct the point. A good teacher to new breed of 'REAL' singers. And for those who are supported by their fan base - which is merely the reason why their albums sell like pancakes - don't stop. I know they are just doing their jobs as well. They make people happy too. People behind them also knew that they are getting money from this - and come on - don't expect them to sing live or don't even give them a real concert. Kung pang studio at album lang... so be it. ANG CONCERT - LIVE SHOWS YAN... Waley.... ang babaw talaga.... hard earned money should be spent on real stuff and not yung chocolate coated sugar lang... love you Lea S.

  77. I like novelty acts, I find them entertaining. But at the end of day. They are not the kind of artists of my taste. I'm not purist or elite. I'm not also a person who go on trend, but I will give a try. I understand why non proffessional singer are being produce. As a consumer, remember to give respect to those who work hard for their craft. I supported artists for a decade, I've seen them grow, improve, fall and get back up. This artists work hard or trice like those who are fully advertise. They are the person who even have another job just to finance their craft . Don't insult them "Hindi naman kasi sila sikat". They put their heart and soul for this. Then, the major fault is on us, the consumer. We should learn to give a try and appreciate.

So medyo off-putting itong sinasabi nila Rhap, acting like these non-singers are the only reason why the industry is failing. Hello, may kontribusyon di kaya kayo diyan.

  81. Si Sarah na maraming fanbase pero ayaw maglabas ng saloobin sa isyung ito ng music industry.... a) wala syang pakialam kasi sikat na sya; b) ayaw nyang mawalan ng supporters; c) may mga tao behind her na nagaadvice na wag makisawsaw or d) kasi di naman sya apektado dahil magaling sya kaya see no evil hear no evil ang peg.

Sa aking opinyon.... she should be like Lea S. too. Kung may high respect sya sa industry na ginagalawan nya... she should speak up as well..
OPM industry should be revived to its fullest by people who can create songs that inspires.... ano ano bang songs ang maririnig mo ngayon... puro pacute at pabebe na kanta... puro novelties... nasaan na magagaling na composers...

I urged Regine V. to rally her opinion on this issue too. Sila ang mga may K kaya dapat sila ang magtulungan to revive the dying music industry.

Good luck and God bless to OPM music.

  84. Sana may gumawa ng documentay or news feature tungkol dito.

    It's as simple as that.
And they're frustrated that they cannot do anything about it.
They cannot attack the producers and consumers who patronize these fake singers because they're afraid of the backlash they'll receive from both groups that's why they resort to social media to attack these fake singers instead.
However, they're too chicken to name these fake singers.
