Just yesterday, a post by Mrs. Borja about a scary incident with an Uber driver started making rounds on social media. Uber users were taken aback by the story and began sharing her post to warn others.
Her status makes complete sense. If I were in her daughter’s situation, I too would be scared silly. With all the crime and modus happening, we can’t blame her for freaking out when the driver stopped at a dark area and 2 men got in the car. ANYONE would freak out! Though the driver tried telling her that he just needed to go to the hospital, it’s not really that easy to just randomly trust someone today.
Mrs. Borja’s post went viral making several riders or would-be riders afraid to now use Uber.
A few hours later however, the driver of the said car, Kelvin, also took the social media to explain his side.

In hopes of clearing his name, Kelvin also posted photos of himself in the hospital to prove that no harm was intended.

We completely understand Mrs. Borja’s fear for her daughter’s life upon hearing of the incident, however let us also take note of the driver’s side in all this. He suffered from a possible stroke, something no one can anticipate. We’re pretty sure that both Mrs. Borja’s daughter and Kelvin were scared out of their wits with the whole fiasco. While Kelvin’s plan of having strangers drive his car to take him to the hospital may NOT have been the best idea, we are no place to judge what people might do when fearing for their lives. He may have thought this was the fastest/easiest way instead of waiting for an ambulance. At least now we know that what Kelvin told his passenger was the truth.

ReplyDeleteNako gets na para sa kapakanan ng anak ang reklamo pero may mga dinagdag bawas ang anak niya sa kwento. Maayos pala siyang pinababa ng taxi para madala siya hospital. Kung emergency at may chance kang atakihin sa puso, ihahatid mo pa ba ang sakay mo?

Sana bago mag start ng trip make sure ni driver na they would be able to bring the passenger safely. Pag uber driver ko pa naman sana dad ko kasi gusto niya talga. Parang ngdadalawang isip tuloy ako.
ReplyDeleteIt was one of those rare times na bigla na lang sumama pakiramdam and heart problems are like that kung dadating, out of nowhere. Pag ikaw parang feeling mo mamatay ka na or with that impending doom, makaka-isip ka pa ba ng ibang bagay? Ni hindi nga nya kilala ang nag-drive sa kanya, ganun kasama pakiramdam nya.

DeleteWell i i were the passenger, siguro yun din una kong maiisip. Sa dinami dami ba naman ng mga modus sa panahon ngayon, better safe than sorry. Hindi na kasi natin alam kung sino yung mga genuine na tao at yung mga modus lang eh.
ReplyDeletethe driver, Kelvin and Uber already apologized.i read her recent post. in my humble opinion, she should apologize too now that she knew what really happened to the driver. wala namang masama kung magpakumbaba tayo paminsan minsan lalo na kung may pagkakamali.

DeleteGood if it's true. Pero tbh if i were the passenger, mageexpect ako na magsabi ung driver sa akin mismo na he can't make it na. Hindi yung basta may sasakay n 2 mama. And medyo questionable din sa akin yung basta ka magtatawag ng strangers to take control of your car, kahit pa lalaki si uber driver, it's still not safe. I will choose to leave my car and take a cab to the hospital.
ReplyDelete1:29 why would you take a cab when its more harder to find one and leave the car there (when hindi naman sa uber driver yun)? It's more logical to find someone na marunong mag-drive at gamitin na ang car na andyan na. And besides, who are you to judge the uber driver's judgement when at that time yun ang naiisip nya na tama and safe for him. He was having health problems - heck, he mostly had a minor heart attack/heart palpitations.

Very immature un post nya sa fb na kahit hindi pa tapos ang imbestigasyon inilabas na agad ang mukha at plate number ng driver and that's character assassination. As for me ok lang na inilabas ang story na ganito but to the extend ba papangalanan mo pa without due process. Biruin mo sinira mo agad ang pangkabuhayan ng tao at ang kayang pagkatao based only to your emotions. Meanwhile si uber driver has witnesses and substantial evidences.

i think so too dahil iniwan naman nyang bukas ang bintana para siguro hindi magduda ang pasahero. i think hindi na nakapag isip ng mabuti yung driver dahil nagpa palpitate na nga.

ReplyDeleteHaving been a taxi robbery victim, I admire the girl. If the driver wasn't really feeling well, he could have contacted his operator first. Then the operator will explain to their customer. What she did was both right and wrong. Right for she saw the chance to escape and she did. Wrong because in case of real robbery, police advice is to give up the material things because your life is more important. No one has the right to judge the mom and the daughter. If this happened to you, all you would ask for is justice and to have your sense of security back. It took me months before I got into a cab alone. Wag po tayo judgmental. Instead try putting yourself in the place of the girl and mom, not just the driver. What would you have done?
ReplyDeleteiba po ang regular taxi operator sa Uber. Sa uber, yung mga drivers completo sa requirements may nbi clearance, driver's license, car registrations atbp. Kya kampante aq sumakay sa uber compared sa regular taxi o grabtaxi/grabcar.

I know of a driver na inatake and namatay While on route! May passenger pa siya nun who asked for help kaso di na umabot sa hospital yun driver. So di po impossible to.
