Precisely. The LGBT had been given the civil rights to be married. Granting these rights by the laws of the land does not give them the rights as well to be indecent in public, and to do over the top things to mock religious beliefs. They could have expressed the LGBT pride in a positive way, and not do more things that will only harm the group and its reputation. Mutual respect by the straights acknowledging the LGBT rights, and the by LGBT not offending the moral and religious compass of the straights.
Just like there are extremist Muslims, extremist Feminists (Feminazis), extremist Christians (kaya tuloy banned ngayon ang confederate flag), there are also extremists among the LGBT. So please, PLEASE do not jump to the conclusion that the entire LGBT community is like this.

I wonder why some people ask for respect, even demand for it it at times, but fail to respect views different from their own. Yes, it's distasteful. But just like there are awful gays, let's not pretend that straight people can't be just as awful. The actions of a few should not discount or invalidate the fact that the LGBT community should be recognized and treated without discrimination in society. It shouldn't change the fact that homosexuals are still an oppressed people globally. The way people take this single incident and wave it around like a reason why gays should not be respected at all is righteous bigotry and ignorance trying to pretend that it's not, hiding behind a flag of so-called morality. If you actually view any other Pride videos from other countries or go to one yourself, you'd see righteous Christian picketers spewing hate and condemnation where its not needed.

respect is not given, it is earned...meron kasing ibang LGBT na pinipilit respetuhin sila pero mga kababoyan ang ginagawa... yung ibang matinong LGBT, nirerespeto naman pero hindi lahat,yung matitino lang.

ReplyDeleteTama ka Jed! Paano mo irerespeto ang lalaking nagdadamit pambabae o ang babaeng nag-aastang lalaki? May mga bakla/tomboy rin naman na disente at hindi masyadong bulgar kaya sila ang karespe-respeto!

As long as mabuti kang mamayan , hindi ka kriminal , mabuting tao walang problema kung gustuhin nila yun. hindi mo din masasabi na ang mga gays na disente(mga ngdadamit ng normal) at hindi bulgar ay karesperespeto depende yan sa tao hindi mo pede husgahan ang isa tao dahil lang sa panlabas nyang anyo o sa damit na gusto niyang suotin lalo na hindi mo naman kilala ng personal.
Deletesorry pero kung ganito ang mga gay sa mundo they won't gain respect from anyone. sobrang immoral na to... kabastusan na.... they want to treated fair and gain respect but this?!! such a shame.... sinsunog na sila sa impyerno...
ReplyDeleteAs for me, mataas pa din ang respeto ko sa LGBT natin dito sa Pinas. Dahil may takot pa din sila sa diyos. Di naman nila kasalanan na naging gay sila eh. Karamihan nga sa kanila, di sang ayon sa same sex marriage. Tanggapin natin ang LGBT pinoys dahil ktulad natin eh tao din sila at di nila binabastos Diyos natin. Nagkataon lang talaga na gay sila pinanganak at wala na sila magawa doon. Kung bakla man si Jed, ano naman? Diba? It doesn't make him less of a person. Mabait siya at madaming natutulungan. ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they had to do that. Kaya ino-oppress tayo ng religions pwede naman kasi na lgbt ka pero simple lang ang pamumuhay. Of all people, tayo dapat ang nakakaalam kung ano pakiramdam ng ginagawang joke kaya dapat marunong tayong rumespeto kung respeto din naman hangad natin.. I'm bi and a catholic but my faith in God always comes first. Just my 2 cents..
ReplyDeleteYes, it's distasteful. But just like there are awful gays, let's not pretend that straight people can't be just as awful. The actions of a few should not discount or invalidate the fact that the LGBT community should be recognized and treated without discrimination in society. It shouldn't change the fact that homosexuals are still an oppressed people globally. The way people take this single incident and wave it around like a reason why gays should not be respected at all is righteous bigotry and ignorance trying to pretend that it's not, hiding behind a flag of so-called morality. If you actually view any other Pride videos from other countries or go to one yourself, you'd see righteous Christian picketers spewing hate and condemnation where its not needed.
