Duh? Are first world countries debt-free, poverty-free, or corruption-free?
They're not, but they're also not the poorest of countries like the Philippines. The level of corruption is shameful. There is no reliable system: from medical care to law enforcement, to waste water management and environmental remediation. Even the power companies, phone companies, and other customer service industries have no solid structure, thus, delivering the poorest of services too. Pinot pride is a sad and empty statement.
I agree with u,even the first world country are not debt free! Pero utang na loob naman, hndi naman ganon kalaki, na hndi pa lumalabas anak m sa tyan mo, eh may utang na.ur sounds like working in a goverment!! Denial
12.52 it's not about being content with the current system, on the contrary. It's about accepting what is possible at the moment, that change cannot be done overnight. People like Lea love to point out problems instead of being part of the solution.
Teh 2:10 Basic math and science lang po... How can you provide the solution if you can't identify the problem?

Maybe Ms. Salonga needs to re-read our long and tumultuous history then she'd have an answer.
She has a good point there. People from those days had a reason to celebrate, now I think we are a slave in our own country by those corrupt officials who are in power. #Rizaldoingfacepalm
1am Have you tried? If not, then at least heard or read about what are the immigration staff doing to outbound passengers? They almost DON'T WANT YOU TO LEAVE EITHER.
Freedom! We are not the only country who is not debt, corruption and crime free! Get a grip to reality. You're such an idealist it does not even exist!
But we could at least try harder to improve, right? How we can improve if we don't even listen to issues and act on it. Idealism may not exist but at least we can get nearer to it.
It is not about being contented with crappy things like corruption pero naisip nyo ba kung ano nagawa nyo para sa bansa? And besides, let'S be realistic here. Even first-world countries are not crime-free and corruption-free.
We celebrate because our forefathers sacrificed their lives for us to be free. We celebrate independence for what they did to us, not what our generation did. Tayo ang umabuso sa kalayaan natin. Tayong masyadong naging malaya.
Funny. We abhor corruption, poverty, crime and other social ills. Walang kang kalayaan.
She WAS proud.. when the whole country was celebrating her Ms Saigon stint, in her all-Pinay beauty, complexion, nose and all! Nagbago lang mukha nya pati paninindigan nabago na din with her irritating accent when speaking English!
She might have forgotten that even first world countries aren't free from debts and crimes. June 12 is a commemoration of our independence from Spain. What's her deal?
ang yabang. kala mo me napatunayan dito sa Pilipinas. panuorin nya kamo paulit ulit ang redwood curtain kung gano kabano umarte. she is not even an artist she is just a fantastic broadway vocalist. please free yourself from that pedestal you are standing on.
Surprised that a person as smart as Lea continues to believe that there is a utopia. Even Scandinavian countries have debts, crimes and homeless people. She needs some dose of history . An independence day is a celebration of the birth of a nation, the day we were freed from Spain. If independence means freedom from sufferings and problems, then , only the dead are club members. Let's stop believing that because one is materially well-off, they are happier. Unknown to us , the homeless might even be happier. I am beyond pissed-off with her snooty demeanor , as if the first world country is the epitome of all that is good in a society. Btw, I'm a Fil-am and have travelled around the world . I don't follow Lea's ideological colonization. Just sing !
i dont think there are countries that exist as such. ang mga mauunlad na bansa ang mga nasa itaas ng mga bansang maaraming utang. sana nagresearch muna sya bago sya nagpost. lalo na well traveled sya, alam nya na walang bansa na wala ang nasabi nya.
Some of her tweets can be irritating but in this case she was merely asking "Why do we celebrate it?" She didn't say "Why do we bother celebrating it?"
Ms Lea, its for our past and future generation for our country's pride, fidelity and loyalty. You're one one of the reason why we Filipinos are stereotyped... Stop na po crab mentality. Kkturn off ka po ! Hmp!!!
And may I ask Lea... why are you still in the Philippines? If you don't want to celebrate/commemorate the day we finally got freed from Spanish regime then...go find that land where you deemed right to celebrate Independence based on your belief. Ingrate! And you think you're all that just because you starred in some famous broadway musicals? Actually we don't need your over the top liberal mentality and don't shove it down to your fellow Filipinos. JUST SING!
Oh Tita Lea, go live in Utopia then. If you can find one, that is. And why are you here by the way? go back to the States or something. you will not be missed.
The mere fact that you've been ranting on Twitter and has the job that you have now is reason enough to celebrate. In other countries, women cannot even vote or get a decent education.
We are commemorating our heroes, our history.
Over sa pagka-perfectionist!
Well traveled is Tita Lea pero she has never been to China? Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm.... I guess not everyone is perfect then pala ha ha. Basa basa din ng current events pag may time. Huwag yung panay broadway shows and inaatupag.
And this is why Regine is more loved by the nation than Lea. You would think na mas matalino si Lea at mali-mali ang spelling ni Regine minsan dahil sa dyslexia. But Regine is always more sensitive and comes off as more sensible and mature. Si Regine hindi mareklamo, mahal niya ang bayan niya pero she still says her piece about current situations in an appropriate manner. Regine represents the filipinos better and she's actually more popular to non filipinos than Lea. Kaya nanay Lea, hwag po masyadong mayabang at mapagmataas.
Did this girl take sibika, hekasi, and social studies? Reality speak, no country even exist as such. Too idealistic and perfectionist to the point of getting pointless. Unpatrotic bi**h. Big mouth but pea brain.
It's her opinion and hers alone. Wala rin naman atang nasasagasaang tao, so not a big deal.
Exactly! Nothing to celebrate cause there is nothing to rejoice. Like hello????

ReplyDeleteShe might have forgotten that even first world countries aren't free from debts and crimes. June 12 is a commemoration of our independence from Spain. What's her deal?
ReplyDeleteang yabang. kala mo me napatunayan dito sa Pilipinas. panuorin nya kamo paulit ulit ang redwood curtain kung gano kabano umarte. she is not even an artist she is just a fantastic broadway vocalist. please free yourself from that pedestal you are standing on.
ReplyDeleteSurprised that a person as smart as Lea continues to believe that there is a utopia. Just sing !
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Very well said.
DeleteVery well said!
DeleteWhat a myopic view of history!
ReplyDeleteexactly kahit ang land of the free na US nararanasan ang ganyang ganap...
Deletewhy not leave the Philippines, taga Us naman sya ,Baka duon yun mga nirarant nya about Philippines wala SA USA ...
ReplyDeleteMs Perfectionist strikes again!
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteWe are celebrating our independence. We are NOT celebrating poverty, foreign debt, and corruption, insecure big-mouth little Ms Perfect
ReplyDeleteSome of her tweets can be irritating but in this case she was merely asking "Why do we celebrate it?"
ReplyDeleteShe didn't say "Why do we bother celebrating it?"
Ms Lea, its for our past and future generation for our country's pride, fidelity and loyalty. You're one one of the reason why we Filipinos are stereotyped... Stop na po crab mentality. Kkturn off ka po ! Hmp!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are celebrating the heroes who gave us our freedom.
ReplyDeleteAnd may I ask Lea... why are you still in the Philippines? If you don't want to celebrate/commemorate the day we finally got freed from Spanish regime then...go find that land where you deemed right to celebrate Independence based on your belief. Ingrate! And you think you're all that just because you starred in some famous broadway musicals? Actually we don't need your over the top liberal mentality and don't shove it down to your fellow Filipinos. JUST SING!
ReplyDeleteOh Tita Lea, go live in Utopia then. If you can find one, that is. And why are you here by the way? go back to the States or something. you will not be missed.
ReplyDeleteThe mere fact that you've been ranting on Twitter and has the job that you have now is reason enough to celebrate. In other countries, women cannot even vote or get a decent education.
ReplyDeleteI agree.. Why should we settle for less?
ReplyDeleteWe are commemorating our heroes, our history.
Over sa pagka-perfectionist!
ReplyDeleteAgree 8:57. Nakakaloka tong si Lea. Biglang naging ignorante tingin ko sa kanya.
DeleteWe have nothing to celebrate
ReplyDeleteMs Lea, a lot of countries that aren't debt-free, poverty-free, crime-free, and corruption-free (like the US) also celebrate independence day!
DeleteAh ganun. Eh di lumayas ka. Ingrata!
ReplyDeleteNakaka turn off naman ang comment coming from a respected icon. tsk tsk tsk.
ReplyDeletepunta ka na lang sa north korea or sa saudi para ma appreciate mo kung ano man meron tayong tinatamasa ngayon. it may not be ideal pero it is worth celebrating.
ReplyDeleteAgree.
Shunga mo lea
ReplyDeleteSome people are so opinionated presenting a know-it-all demeanour when in fact, in the process, they are just exposing their ignorance.
ReplyDeleteso negatron
ReplyDeleteMadam Lea, the fact that you can freely express your opinion through social media is one big reason to celebrate. duh! so negatron!
ReplyDeleteIs there such a country? Siguro yung moon ganyan. Dun ka tumira Tita.
ReplyDeleteWell traveled is Tita Lea pero she has never been to China? Hmmm... Hmmm... Hmmm.... I guess not everyone is perfect then pala ha ha. Basa basa din ng current events pag may time. Huwag yung panay broadway shows and inaatupag.
ReplyDeleteKayo naman. :) wala lang magawa yan nung Independence Day holiday. Hayaan nyo na. Be Free, Lea! It's our gift to you.
ReplyDeleteang nega talaga. she could have said it in a more positive manner.
ReplyDeletesya na lang mag presidente
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why Regine is more loved by the nation than Lea.
ReplyDeleteDid this girl take sibika, hekasi, and social studies? Reality speak, no country even exist as such. Too idealistic and perfectionist to the point of getting pointless. Unpatrotic bi**h. Big mouth but pea brain.
ReplyDeleteIt's her opinion and hers alone. Wala rin naman atang nasasagasaang tao, so not a big deal.
ReplyDelete
