Bad Publicity After All

Now it can be told! The Movie TM was very disappointing. Heard that its TM Producers TP didn’t expect such lackluster outcome falling so low at the box office. Allegedly, TM’s starrers - Carefree Actress CA and Hot Actor HA - have failed miserably in their disguise played before the public. The viewers were so clever to be taken for a ride, that’s for sure.

Reportedly, TP were confident enough that they can capitalize on the then on-going controversy between the couple, going to great lengths to fuel the rumors even more thinking that the public would take it hook, line and sinker. Epic fail. The move eventually backfired on them.

TM attempted to seduce the viewers with each steamy scene, seeming like a p**n movie with all that pumping and moaning, yet word had it that all these and more failed to impress the viewing public.

Heard that TM hardly registered profit at all. Industry veterans believe that CA’s persona and image apparently did her in. Also, netizens decry her obvious, annoying ways of saying one thing while meaning another. While she expressed to be passionate in love with HA, netizens saw her and the other man’s online posts often contradicting each other.

Being internet-savvy that they are, it’s hard to believe that CA and HA have overlooked the immense power of social media. Oh well…

With a project so scarcely- funded, headlined by stars that the public passionately loves to hate and with a poor promotion to boot – producers should now know that the combo is a perfect recipe for disaster.

After 11 years at the forefront of showbiz news, Pia Guanio has decided to say goodbye to Chika Minute on 24 Oras.

Pia decided to let go of her anchoring duties on 24 Oras to prioritize family life and raising her daughter Scarlet with her husband Steve Mago.

GMA Network understands the importance of family and is fully behind Pia’s decision to move forward.

Pia has been with 24 Oras since it launched in 2004, carving a niche in entertainment news with her fun and classy news delivery.

With Pia's help, Chika Minute has etched itself in the consciousness of Pinoy pop culture, with the trademark voice of Pia signalling the start of showbiz news. 

Aside from showbiz news, Pia has also advocated for healthy living and animal rights and produced stories and news features on these. 

24 Oras is grateful for Pia’s contributions to make it the leading and most credible newscast in the country today.

Dismayed at Being Used For Publicity

Sincerity is not measured by the immediate asking of forgiveness or assurance that things will go back to normal. Many often stop at issuing an apology or asking for forgiveness. However, true sincerity is gauged by the actions after the moment of reconciliation. In showbiz, actions of celebrities behind the cameras indicate the type of person they are. Unguarded moments are the best ways to see if someone is sincere or is just acting for the sake of gaining public sympathy.

Sometime ago, Young Prima Donna (YD) thought she had it all. Her network was giving her commendable and highly talked about projects. High-value endorsements were at her fingertips. Even if she had a few negative write-ups about her attitude, damage control was easily done. However, one major problem that involved a family member (FM) and her haughty attitude set the path towards a lackluster career.

The publicity generated by this issue affected her career, and soon, she was no longer as hot as prior to the issue. However, her handlers realized that reconciliation was the only way to reverse the negativity. In a big event, YD’s camp made sure that FM was part of the celebration, and as expected, YD was admired for finally showing humility.

Months later, FM was asked about the state of his relationship with YD. For honesty’s sake, FM revealed that he felt that he was again being ignored by YD after the big event. YD does not communicate with him, and she does not even respond to his messages. Sometimes, when YD picks up, she is always in a hurry and FM can hear another kin speaking loudly in the background. When FM tries to invite YD, her response is that she is too busy to go out with him. Naturally, it seems that FM was used to win back some sympathy from the public.

Low Ratings Did It

No television show can survive without advertisers. To get advertisers, producers need to prove viewership. In its absence, no advertiser in its right mind will place a spot to any program where only a few people watch.

It will not take long before viewers will see the demise of another television program – a Lifestyle Show LS, hosted by supposedly Women of Substance WS. LS proves to be the latest casualty.

What’s bothersome is that LS is just a new program, hardly even warmed up on the boob tube. In fact, it will not be an exaggeration if a survey would show that the viewing public are not even aware that LS exists. Indeed, LS insiders will be the first to admit that LS hardly registered n the public’s consciousness since it aired not too long ago.

To make matters worse, LS only got wide publicity (albeit negatively), when some of its mainstays got involved in a notorious incident that had netizens bashing them like there was no tomorrow.

From then on, ratings reportedly dropped further down, prompting LS producers to reevaluate their stand and come up with a good decision possible – to have additional cast – a Lively Personality LP who is not exactly likeable but expecting that she can add a bit of spark to the show. But unfortunately, LP failed to deliver the needed ratings.

With a show often catching its breath just to stay alive, LS eventually gave in. Reportedly, the few remaining advertisers have begun pulling out. You guess it right – LS is now up on the chopping board – real soon.
