I have been to their boutique and their "designers" are glued on their screens browsing nordstrom and saks fifth avenue websites.. Sketching the designs they want to cope. And they are overpriced pa.
True. Kaya namanatay yung industry ng phil fashion designers dahil sa mga walang originality tulad ng mga to. Buti nga at na hack. Dami kasi galit diyan
Someone commented before na she bought a dress from apartment8, yung tags apartment8 nakasulat pero yung plastic straps (used for hanging the dress), forever21 ang brand. LOL!
Even the so-called "high fashion" counterpart of Apt8 is all copy. Yung owner si S wala nang bang pianist kundi #FashionInspirations aka #KopyahinKoNgaTo
Unfortunately, there is no law against copying dress designs kaya malayang nagagawa ng Apt 8 yan. Imagine an entire business built and thriving on copied designs? Kung talagang walang hiya yung owner, they'll just keep doing it. Proof that capitalism is alive and well in the Philippines.
Hello?!! It is very common in the fashion industry to copy designs. Buyers all over the world go on buying trips to fashion capitals to copy designs. as long as they alter the design (at least 10-30%) and not deliberately passing it off as a knock off, it is acceptable.
They do not alter the design at all. Ok pa nga if it's a n i proved version or use a similar and much acceptable fabric. Sa apartment 8 parang pang upholstery eh.
I only agree with you on one point, trends are copied and passed from brand to brand which is acceptable as long as designs are tweaked to make them look like they are a whole new concept altogether NOT IN THE CASE OF APARTMENT8 though. Nasa bio na nga nila "you want that dress? come to us and we'll produce an exact copy of it for you". Too bad yung quality talaga hindi makokopya.
Ang Apt. 8 Clothing ginaya din nila name nila sa Apt. 9 na brand, it's kind of an indie brand (like Clef de Sol or something) sa Europe so feeling siguro nila no one would know where they got their name from.
Actually even Zara, H&M, F21 and the like also copy the designs and trends on the runways kaya tawag sa kanila ng real designers ay fast fashion retailers. Unfortunately, fashion designs are not copyrightable.
Agree with Anonymous (March 9, 2015 at 12:41 AM). I've been to their boutique as well and ang ginagawa nalang ata ng designers nila is to research for dresses or designs that they can copy. Hindi dapat design team ang tawag sa kanila, research team dapat!
Way overpriced just because they sponsor celebrities. Gullible naman kasi yung ibang consumers. With the prices of apartment 8, id rather buy sa zara not because it's a global brand but it has better qualty naman with the same price.
Kasi naman tong apartment8 masyadong feelingera kung maka-botique at overprice ganon ganon nalang. May pa-sketch sketch pang nalalaman nahiya pa sana pnrint nalang from the internet.
It could get really frustrating when people simply rip off your works and claim them as their own to gain credit along the way. However, this sad situation is often inevitable especially when you are good at what you do and have succeeded beyond expectations. Regardless of the pace that you are moving at, the copycats will follow suit and try to stay on par, if not ahead of you.
Agree!!
