It would have been fine if done in a more appropriate event. Nakabawas sa prestige ng pageant yung paraan ng pagho-host ni Toni. I expected more from a "seasoned" host. The jokes were not even meant to put the contestants at ease. Some were even jabs at the contestants themselves, particularly doon sa #14 ba yun? The second one na ininterview... And I liked how Nina pointed out how Toni did not treat the esteemed judges with the kind of respect that they deserve. Hopefully she takes these notes to heart para she can improve should she be the host of a future Bb. Pilipinas pageant. Mabuti pa si Xian.

There would be no remarks from many people if nothing is wrong to begin with. Admit it, it was inappropriate. Her gown says how prestigious and formal the event is but her execution and choice of words on stage did not live up to it. No offense, Toni in the buzz and pbb is a good host but this time off sya.

Pero si KC ang may tamang timpla; however, I really wonder why ABS often gives Toni the upper-hand sa mga hosting projects when in fact KC is a lot better than her when it comes to professional hosting. What miss nina said is very true! So unclassy naman kasi ang ginawang hosting ni toni at the country's foremost beauty pageant at that. i though ako lang naka-appreciate hosting ni KC couple of years ago. she was really good with her ad lib etc. kc concepcion ha, not kc montero aka magseysey kalurks. as for toni, i admit natawa talaga ako sa mga hirit niya during the pageant, but from the candidate's viewpoint eh medyo inappropriate nga....like when she compared her panga dun sa isang candidate, that chandelier thing, "what did u expect" hirit kay pia, etc.
Ok sige next time ikaw na. Ikaw na ang maghost. Mas marunong ka pala eh bakit di ka nagprisinta. On the other hand, tama din naman na hindi yan ASAP or The Buzz na pwede yang crass comments sa mga tao kahot ba comedienne pa dahil nga serious event yan.

I wanted to throw something at the television when this one candidate said that it was her first time to join a beauty pageant and "know it all" Toni replied with "your first time? Are you looking forward to your second time?" implying that the candidate will lose. Gah, she's trying to be funny and witty but unfortunately, she is just not. When it comes to the TV broadcast of Bb Pilipinas, the network is given the right to select the hosts among the pool of talents that they have. I really don't know the culture that they have at abs-cbc but they have this obvious bias in ALWAYS selection Toni for hosting jobs. This is not the first time that toni had this "know it all" attitude as we have seen it often on her different TV hosting jobs. I really have no idea why ABS management have not done anything in the past to point out her bad behavior on tv but instead let her continue to create havoc. Bb Pilipinas deserves respect and Toni's unwanted antics were more appropriate in a comedy bar or pang-barangay level hosting but never in the status of a Bb Pilipinas hosting job. ABS should take notice that their so-called favorite is giving the network a bad name and it leaves a disgusting bad taste for a network trying to be world class... I guess, good taste is not what they have.

Ang tamang paghoho-host you will allow your interviewee to shine, hindi mo sinasapawan katulad ng palaging ginagawa ni Kris Aquino na mas madami pang sinasabi kesa sa iniinterview niya. Ang tamang pagho-host ay you allow people you interview their time to shine, inaalalayan mo para maalis ang nerbiyos at masabi nila ang gusto nilang sabihin, hindi mo niriridicule or ini-intimidate.
Kailan pa naging pasosyal o pormal ang pagkakaroon ng finesse and tact? Hindi ba dapat likas yun sa tao? Dapat ba porke masa nanonood dapat magaspang magsalita?
On one point, bakit naman kinuha sya ng BBP, knowing Toni she has her own brand of hosting and they should have known how she hosts her shows. Yes she might not be for these kinds of event but lets not blame her for being who she is and what she does best. I'm not a fan of Toni, and honestly mejo na-off din ako sa hosting nya, she tried to make it fun pero I guess people(avid watchers & supporters of pageants) were not yet ready for that kind of humor in a beauty pageant coronation ceremony. Like what Shamcey said in the beginning of the show, the coronation night is like graduation for the girls, so people expect a more professional program and that includes the hosting.
Pero even if Toni went a little overboard with her jokes and side comments, I still don't think she meant any harm to anyone. Insulting her down to her looks 15 years ago is so unfair naman, because whatever she achieved, pinaghirapan at pinagpaguran pa rin niya. Its not like she was born into a showbiz family. Madami na rin naman siya pinagdaanan na rejection, kaya she doesn't deserve this hurtful things being thrown at her. I mean sobra naman to. Miski hindi ako si Toni, nasaktan ako for her. Her gown says how prestigious and formal the event is but her execution and choice of words on stage did not live up to it. No offense, Toni in the buzz and pbb is a good host but this time off sya.

ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to the TV broadcast of Bb Pilipinas, the network is given the right to select the hosts among the pool of talents that they have. I really don't know the culture that they have at abs-cbc but they have this obvious bias in ALWAYS selection Toni for hosting jobs. This is not the first time that toni had this "know it all" attitude as we have seen it often on her different TV hosting jobs. I really have no idea why ABS management have not done anything in the past to point out her bad behavior on tv but instead let her continue to create havoc. Bb Pilipinas deserves respect and Toni's unwanted antics were more appropriate in a comedy bar or pang-barangay level hosting but never in the status of a Bb Pilipinas hosting job. ABS should take notice that their so-called favorite is giving the network a bad name and it leaves a disgusting bad taste for a network trying to be world class... I guess, good taste is not what they have.

DeleteI'm not a fan of Toni, and honestly mejo na-off din ako sa hosting nya, she tried to make it fun pero I guess people(avid watchers & supporters of pageants) were not yet ready for that kind of humor in a beauty pageant coronation ceremony. Like what Shamcey said in the beginning of the show, the coronation night is like graduation for the girls, so people expect a more professional program and that includes the hosting.

ReplyDeleteFrom what I remember she was 11th. A few points short of 10th. And during her stint in BBP, hinakot niya lahat ng awards. Gown, swimsuit, even talent. Every friggin thing.

ReplyDeleteOk fine hindi nga siguro fit si toni sa ganitong serious hosting job, not her forte ika nga...bash her on her way of handling this particular stint pero ang balikan pati ang itsura ng nakaraan eh feeling ko foul...so funny tong si nina pareho lang nmn silang puro panga ni toni at mukhang lalake...d only difference is si toni yumaman at lalong yumayaman at super in demand kaya gumanda....samantalang itong si nina nanatiling babae nga pero sa tigas ng features ng mukha mukha paring lalake matawag lang na nka apak sa miss universe stage hahaha...si cary santiago kwinestyon din ung hosting ni toni pero ndi na binanggit pa ang looks dahil ndi nmn dapat

So unbecomming for a former beauty queen. She has every right to criticize Toni's way of hosting but to insult how she looks like 15 years ago, what's so classy about that? She claims that Toni insulted the candidates, eh sa panlalait niya kay Toni anong pinagkaiba niya?

ReplyDeleteMeron pa shang hirit na "Hindi sha thank you, girl ngayon!" nung inannounce yung top 15. Nakakabastos para sa mga hindi nakapasok sa top 15. Eh sha nga kung sasali dun ni hindi mo masasabing "thank you girl" kasi di sha aabot sa part na yun.

ReplyDeleteYes Toni's humor did not fit the "classiness" kuno of the event but I didn't find her jokes insulting or mean. Nainsulto sa chandelier earrings?! Or sa Frederick, go, go! comment? Yes inappropriate pero di naman sya downright insulting. I didn't see her belittling the contestants. Sobra naman yung mga comments.

Si Cary Santiago nag criticize din pero not insulting. Grabe naman itong si Nina. She could have said that Toni experienced struggling for her dreams too without describing her evolution to us. Pot called kettle black, Ms. Nina.
