This year has been so great for Eddie Redmayne.
ReplyDeleteHurray for Julianne Moore. Golden Globes, BAFTA, SAG and now Oscars!!!
ReplyDeletealways been a great actress.. finally...
DeleteStill Alice is a great film with great actors... ready your tissue... Julianne is wow
Deleteagree 12:12. ganda ng movie...
DeleteJulianne Moore! about time... 5th nom at the Oscars & a well-deserved win.
ReplyDeletebravo!!! love ko din performance ni Gaga.. OMG that was the best performance sa entire career nya.. hahaha XD
ReplyDeleteyeah ang galing ni Lady Gaga, never thought that she could sing like that! even Julie Andrews was blown away with her performance!
ReplyDeleteGrabe wala ko alam sa mga winner. Hindi maingay compared sa mga previous years. Shame on me. Kudos to the winners.
ReplyDeleteI love Julianne Moore pero bet ko talaga si Rosamund Pike and I'm gonna put it out there dahil iba-iba ang taste diba pero I find GBH movie boring along with Boyhood although Patricia Arquette kasi magaling na talaga to start with... Sad for Bradley Cooper kasi I found American Sniper maganda yung Unbroken din magaling si Jack Oconnell dun but he was not nominated.
ReplyDeleteuso punctuation marks te! but yeah, I'm all in for Rosamund din.. :(
Deletehindi rin... Rosamund Pike didn't give justice to the role... Amy in Gone Girl should be bubbly, fun, easy going...
DeleteI am assuming you don't watch movies much, especially those not mainstream. Julianne Moore delivers an incredible performance always. The other nominees are also great actresses. I respect your opinions though. :)
DeleteTo me in terms of best actor it was a tie between JK Simmons and Robert Duvall. Robert Duvall's performance was so effective and heartbreaking in The Judge!
though I have a bias for Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore in Still Alice is AMAZING! on the other hand, not happy with the best actor, Cumberbatch or Keaton are way much better than Redmayne.
DeleteAnonymous 3:54PM. Me ganoon? Nagmamagaling naman tong baklang to.
Hence, the neverending production of crappy movies. Masa parin kasi ang target audience nila eh. I don't think the majority would enjoy watching a film like Birdman.
I agree with 1:25. Ang filmakers sa atin instead of elevating the masses' taste, mas lalo pa nilang kine-cater. Mabagal nga lang, pero susunod din naman yan in due time. No one wants to take a risk. Lahat puro profit na lang ang iniisip. Lalu na yung mga pang MMFF movies. It should have been a vehicle to showcase our best pero puro basura din. If you want to be enlightened and appreciate cinematic feats, watch foreign films. Kung gusto mong bumaba ng konti yung IQ mo or just spend an hour or two in a mindless state, watch our local films.
Deletebilib din ako ke meryl streep dapat bigyan na sya ng hall of fame sa most nominated actress, taon-taon ata eh kasali sya lagi.
ReplyDeleteJK Simmons! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI love him! To me, he will always be Juno's dad. :)
ReplyDeleteNot getting over the fact that Ava Duvernay was snubbed. She deserved it more than Inarritu.
ReplyDeleteNot getting over the fact that Ava DuVernay was snubbed. She deserved it more than Innarritu.
ReplyDeleteI did not enjoy Birdman. I do watch dark comedy, but this was one I could not appreciate. I thought The Imitation Game entertaining enough, while The Theory of Everything was such a beautiful movie.
ReplyDeleteThe most enjoyable movie for me was Whiplash. JK Simmons was excellent! I'm very excited about Miles Teller's future as an actor, the guy was great too. Like you, I would say The Imitation Game was entertaining. The Theory of Everything is something that I would call "pretty", but I would have to say that Eddie Redmayne was brilliant as Stephen Hawking. I dind't get the Oscar nomination for Felicity Jones, though. But the Theory team have been one of the most hardworking during the campaign season so their efforts must've rubbed on Felicity Jones' Oscar nom. Same comment with Emma Stone's nomination. But hey, it's always nice seeing her great fashion sense in the red carpet.
DeleteBirdman was okay. I don't think it deserves its win. I do however like the way it was directed, nagustuhan ko yung continuity ng scenes. I also think Emma was great in it.
DeleteI love JK Simmons. To me, he will always be Juno's dad.
DeleteIm happy GBH got what it deserved. :)
ReplyDeleteI love GBH, watched it several times. :-)
DeleteIt was wildly entertaining and whimsical! Even my son watched it several times, too. It was reminiscent of past films where there was a smorgasbord of actors in cameo roles. It keeps you guessing and it was so much fun.
DeleteCongrats nga pala kay Pawel Pawlikowski. Wala lang, maiba lang.
ReplyDeleteBoyhood moved me to the fact na naglayas na ko sa bahay. Birdman? meh.. very relevant kasi yong story for actors.. i think the academy chose it the way they did with Argo and The Artist. gusto nila yung tungkol lang mismo sa kanila.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Best Actor Award would go to Bradley Cooper. He did such an amazing job portraying Chris Kyle. I strongly recommend it to everyone, people were in tears as they walked out of the movies. Medyo di pa ako maka get over from that.
ReplyDeleteYeah! American Sniper.
DeleteBoyhood and Birdman were the frontrunners for the BP and BD. Although I thought Boyhood would win but Birdman has been received with wide acclaim. Anyway, all are great movies that we should all watch!
ReplyDeleteEveryone claiming Rosamund should've won, chill. Like, please. She didn't do her character justice. Her voice was annoying all throughout the movie. Her facial expressions were hard to read most of the time, and not suiting of the scene if at all. I didn't see the light, bubbly side to the character she was trying to portray too. I would say read the book people! Also, I'm assuming those commenting are around 15-23 yrs old? Watch Juliane Moore's movies and then come back here and dare say Rosamund should've won. Che!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your input I'm sure you have the necessary degree and experience that makes your opinion very credible.
Delete@Anti -You I've been watching Julianne Moore movies since I can understand movies. Heck, I can even spell her name right (Sorry wrong spelling mo te)! I also read Gone Girl and watched Still Alice. Rosamund made a a great portrayal of Amy's character. So, that being said, there's no need to come back here. And YES, I dare say she should've have won. :)
DeleteHay naku nakikiband wagon yung iba kasi nanalo si Julianne Moore, I have nothing against her since she is a fine actress but taste is subjective. If we are talking about Still Alice yes she is awesome she deserve the win, But is she always good? Like good as Clarice Starling answer is no, Jodie Foster is Clarice and she got Oscars to show for it. As for Rosamund she is a revelation in Gone Girl, she is really good and it will not hurt if she won over Reese and Ms Jones.
DeleteI was betting on either Benedict Cumberbatch or Michael Keaton. Those were really great performances. Especially of the former. Have been a fan since I've started watching Sherlock. I'm always transfixed by his brilliance and onscreen charisma. Better luck next time. But I was happy for Julienne Moore. Her Alice characterization was anything but riveting. I can feel her pain and helplessness.
