At least seven marshals of the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City are being investigated after they were caught on video apparently manhandling, handcuffing and beating up two British men.
The video, uploaded by YouTube user ghelo bytes, was taken around 5:27 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of 5th and 30th avenues. It went viral with over 148,000 views as of press time.
The marshals' mandhandling of the two British men drew criticism from netizens, who accused the guards of illegally arresting the foreigners, with some saying they acted like cops when they did not have the right to do so.
The BGC management said in a statement on Monday that a "full investigation" has been conducted against the involved marshals.
"We have reviewed the video and it indicated that certain members of our security personnel resorted to inappropriate behavior and we are conducting a full investigation of this incident," the BGC management said.

The development firm said that before the foreigners' "apprehension" was caught on camera, they "hit and hurt" a lady marshal for reproaching them over skateboarding along the road.
A male marshal who responded to the scene to back up the female guard was allegedly punched by one of the British men, identified in television reports as Sam Reynolds and Christopher Edwards.
BGC said formal charges have been filed against Reynolds and Edwards.

These individuals give Brits a bad name. They were given fair warnings but were probably used to getting their way elsewhere to the point that they assaulted a security guard! And then they complain when reinforcements arrive to apprehend them! Would it have hurt them to leave instead? What transpired was their choosing! Freaking white trash!
ReplyDeleteHope they will hear the guards' side of the story before making a judgement. Just because they are foreigners do not automatically make them the victims and telling the truth. Brits abroad are notoriously arrogant and often a nuisance especially when they've had a drink.
ReplyDeleteStill, even if the Brits were unruly, this was very excessive. Abuse of authority and a clear case of police brutality. There was no need to beat him up since he was outnumbered 7 to 1. They could have just held him down instead of beating him to a pulp. Tsk.

Deletesa mga viral videos na nagiging usual na now, i think we need to have an open mind when we watch them n not conclude right away. we need to investigate. yung part ng article na saying security guys are not cops n they dont have the right to arrest seems so wrong. what do u want security people to do? check bags n just stand and stare?? even guard dogs are trained to attack when needed. most people nowadays are getting dumber by the sec.
