Gilas coach Chot Reyes made the announcement at SMART-Araneta Coliseum, saying that fans in attendance will be treated to a scrimmage featuring the national team instead.
No reason was given for the last-minute cancellation.
Meanwhile, officials of PLDT, which bankrolled the event, said that the company is ready to provide refunds to fans who are unhappy over the development.
The cancellation comes on the heels of a no-show from Blake Griffin and Paul George, who were at the center of promotions for the event.
NBA players James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Brandon Jennings, Kyle Lowry, Damian Lillard, Terrence Ross, Kawhi Leonard, Tyson Chandler, Matt Barnes, Ed Davis, and Nick Johnson were supposed to take the court against Gilas in the event.
:( im disappointed at griffin and george
ReplyDeleteHeads will surely roll after this fiasco. What a marketing debacle - 1) defensive sila and they keep insisting na it was not advertised as a game. 2) sabay at the last minute they were frantically negotiating with the NBA na payagan sila. How the hell did they miss not getting the blessing of NBA?
ReplyDeletePAK! True......
DeletePoor MVP. He doesn't deserve this fiasco.
DeleteKasi naman, too good to be true naman yung ganun na gathering.
ReplyDeleteGood cause im not really interested its not like the workd cup, hello?
It is the most famous game in the worl.
DeleteHello 12:10 nanuuod kaya ako ng sports pero not this one. I watched FIFA world cup in brazil in fact i was there LIVE!!!!
DeleteNatural alanganaman you were there ng hindi live? Juicecolored.
DeleteNo official permission was given by the NBA to these players to play against Gilas. But still, dapat organizers ang humingi ng permiso sa NBA and not the players themselves.
May refund daw! Eh paano yung mga bumyahe pa from far places? Babayaran din ba nila fare and other expenses nung tao sa pagbyahe? May mga nagleave pa sa work just to watch! Kaloka! NBA have the right not to let their players play lalo na kung biglaan ang pagpapaalam. Last time pinayagan naman maglaro NBA players, so I think nakapagpaalam ahead(waaaay ahead!) of time. Nakaka-bwiset lang na the organizers made a fool of people at ira-rason pang there's nowhere in their ads that indicate na may game na magaganap. Come on! Seriously, who in their right mind will pay 23K just to watch them practice or do drills?! Ako na sa bahay lang nag-abang asar na asar, lalo na yung mga gumastos pa just to watch. Haaay! Sana di pahirapan ang pagre-refund. Kawawa naman mga naloko nila.
ReplyDeleteNo biggie! It not like the world cup na brazil lost to the germans scoring 7 goals.
ReplyDeleteOreo griffin...
ReplyDeleteCheating george...
thats why...
.....HELL NO!
Good for the NBA players they would have kicked Philippines a**. Don't waste our time. Try playing our WNBA but they would beat you as well. If not for your foreign Players your team would suck even more. Face it, Filipinos can't play sports
ReplyDeleteLaki ng problema mo. @$$ mo mukha mo!
DeleteYet you are here in a Pinoy gossip site. Bravo.
