    8. 5:43PM, actually in formal English, the word "sport" does not exist as the word sports is a special noun.

  2. Yan kasi problema, naiiwan ang utak. Puro training lang ng katawan

  11. Just because chess is an activity that is not physically exhausting doesn't mean it is not a sport. Its players have high mental abilities that allow them to think of strategies/tactics that should be four or five steps ahead of their competitors. Kakaloka ka kuya.

    1. Just to show how pea size his brain is... Chess players have high mental abilities, particularly in Mathematics. Strategy & tactics needed sa chess, and it seems wala sya nun. Dumb remark lang...

      Delete
    2. not pea brain..NO BRAIN at all!

      Delete
  12. Yes, it is a sport. Chess might not be as physical a sport as football is, but it is still a sport. Intentional or not, but I find his tweet as something of a slight to Wesley So given that he (So) was the one in tonight's "chess news." I find it ridiculous that such comment comes from a football player who's team is not even included in the top 100 of the FIFA's world ranking list. Respeto na lang, Wesley So is a world class chess player, ranked 15 in the world at that.

I like the Azkals and appreciate all the efforts they are doing to promote football in the country. But come on, giving idiot remarks like this pushes me to root against them. Seriously.

Also, I am almost certain chess folks have bigger brains than most football players, Simon Greatwich of course included--with his brain size perhaps bordering in the smallest to no brain at all.

  14. B***to! Palibhasa, 2 moves pa lang siya sa chess, nache-checkmate na siya.

  15. Eh di football na lang ang sports! Ok! Football nalang!

  21. a pure filipino, Wesley So is about to become a US citizen because of lack of local support, samantala ang football at basketball pinuputakte ng fil-foreigners di naman maka-ubra sa international competition. Wesley is no. 15 in the world, pang-ilan nga Azkals? 150?

  25. More than anything, whatever their rankings are, someone just have to learn what respecting someone else's passion is. For a moron to think that someone is not entitled to be called something simply because he doesn't do the same thing he is doing is really pathetic. I guess somebody could use some education on Sports, after all, he calls himself an athlete, right?

  26. Saang lupalop ng mundo ba galing to at hindi alam ganitong fact? Grade school o elementary school na mag-aaral nga alam itong general knowledge na to eh... kkloka..

  27. What a stupid piece of sh*t. Hello, mas grabe ang exertion sa chess kaysa sa physical sport. The mental and psychological exertion is astounding.

  32. Dear Mr. Greatwich...CHESS is a MENTAL sport and it so very UNFORTUNATE that you are NOT VERY MUCH QUALIFIED and has NO CHANCE to enter into such kind of sport!

  51. alam ko may mag sasabi papansin ako pero may point kaya cya... ang standard nya sa sport e physical and mental game... and chess mental but less physical... tama din pag compare nya sa chess with snake n ladder, do you think hindi nya alam ang tungkol sa general knowledge na yan? alam nya, and he's challenging it by using logic...at ang nagsasabing b sya, mas b kasi hindi liberal ang pag iisip! comment po tayo sa subject, or yung illogical na mga hirit, hindi personality attack.. nakaka lorkey...

    3. Isa ka pang kailangan mag-aral ulit ng MAPEH eh!

      Delete
    4. His answer shows the kind of personality and background he has. Chess is seen as one if the foremost mental sports in the world, with grandmasters earning great respect. Before he gave out such an opinion that belittles such a sport with amazing intellectual history, he should have looked up why it is a sport instead of ranting. He just insulted Eugenio Torre, who gave pride and made history for the Philippines in 1974 when he became the first Asian grandmaster. This British reject came to Pinas not because he wants to give pride but because he cant hack it in England. Now with their almost blind fandom his careless comments can influence his fandom's thinking about Chess too.Chess is recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee since 1999 and in this planet we luve in, it cannot get a higher recognition than that.Chess has been around since the 6th century in its present form while association football only began in 1863 in England. If only we had support for our awesome chess talents in Pinas than that which is wasted on these non FIFA ranked Azkals, we would have grandmasters left and right. The idiot is being attacked for his personality and opinion because it is just absolutely disrespectful, uninformed and wrong.

    5. I adore you!!!! Love na kita. Eto rin yun opinion ko na hindi ko ma-verbalize o ma-put into words. No hitting below the belt sana mga friends.

    6. No totally not right to compare snake ladder with Chess. Snake Ladder larong bata yan kahit toddler kaya yatang laruin yan just roll the dice. Sa Chess if you don't have the inate talent kailangan mo pang mag training din. If he knows how to play Chess he would never say that. Unless di talaga kaya ng utak nya na kahit mechanics ng game di nya maintindihan.

      Delete
    7. Wow, compare chess to snakes and ladders? Sa chess walang dice! its all UTAK!!! You can compare snakes and ladders to any game in casinos, but definitely not to chess! My gosh! Sobrang layo ng comparison!

    3. Ang harsh mo naman. Hindi sa looks tumitingin ang coach nila. In their defense, mas pinipili ng ibang Azkals maglaro sa local league kesa sa leagues abroad na mas malaki ang sweldo. Sacrifice nila yon para sa bayan. At maraming Azkals ang nasa big leagues in Europe. Wag kang comment ng comment ng mali!

    4. tomooohh ka 4:45! hahaha yun iba jan comment lng ng comment wla nmn alam. azkals lng kc ung kilala. palibhasa feelegera lang ang peg na may alam sa football. no offence ateng ha pero sino ba ang azkal mem na tinutukoy mo na naglalaro sa big league in EU? tsk baka bench warmer lang. or baka sa 2nd class league hahaha. i pity u gurla.

You must be joking right?? Pleaseeee... tell me you're joking. Ang reason lang kung bakit nandiyan yang mga half breed na iyan ay dahil hindi sila makapasok sa tutuong liga ng football. I am pretty sure why Nurses in the Phils go to abroad dahil mababa ang sahod doon.... NOT!!!!

      Delete
    7. Kung sa looks tumitingin ang coach nila, dapat hindi kasama si Simon sa team. Mukha syang bungo! FYI, dapat kasama si David Alaba sa Azkals, naunahan lang tayo ng Austria! He was capped by Austria at 17. Hindi na sya pwede magpalit ng team!

    ReplyDelete
  56. khit hindi physical game ang chess, recognized ito as sport because nasatisfy nya ang criteria na may element of competition and hindi nagrerely on any "luck" element.. hndi pwedeng sbihing isang sport din ang snakes & ladders because ginagamitan ito ng dice di ba, so may "luck" element....shunga lng, icompare daw ba ang mind game sa game of luck..san ang logic dun?

    ReplyDelete
  57. This Az is an ignoramus. Chess is a mental sport, mongo brain.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I guess nobody bothered to explain to him that chess is an exhibition/demonstration sport.
Twitter is a great way for the public to determine who among these "celebs" and public personalities are idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Chess is logic-based. It needs skill and experience, just like other sports. Snakes & Ladders is luck- and chance- based. No matter how many times you played it, you'll never gain skills because you can never control the pace of the game (unless you cheat). Although they are both board games, you can never put them in the same category.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Simon's comment is uncalled for and totally disrespectful. However, as a big football fan, bashing the football game and the Azkals are uncalled for as well, if not bordering to being ignorant. You obviously don't understand how big football is, in the same manner that Simon didn't understand that chess is a sport as well.

    Oh, well.

    ReplyDelete
  61. He's not even known as a GREAT soccer player. Maghubad ka nalang Simon , mas may silbi ka dun.

  62. before ako magcomment, nag google muna ko,hahaha! is chess a sport?...well may nabasa ko na ang International Olympic Committee is considered Chess as a sport :)

hati parin kasi ang opinion about it,pero kung Olympic na ang nagrerecognize na sport sya so dun na tayo, ;)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ganito lang yan, does he consider his coach as part of their team? if yes, then definitely, CHESS is a SPORT!
