Take the case of this hotshot athlete (HA). Prior to finishing high school, top universities were vocal in their quest in convincing HA to play for their colors. Other than his athletic ability, HA has the brains and attitude that make for an ideal university student. After negotiations, his family opted for HA to play for a particular university (PU).
The decision to play for PU proved to be correct as HA helped propel the university back to its glory days. In recognition of his contribution, HA gained popularity and endorsements that could ever be expected. More importantly, another factor that led to the success of PU in sports is the return of a former benefactor (FB). The resurrection of FB provided the inspiration and financial support for HA and his team.
Soon, FB learned that HA was enjoying more perks than the rest of the team members. Instead of coddling HA, FB said that HA should be given the same benefits as the other players. This statement meant dropping HA’s top-up, which is almost the same amount as the allowance. In addition, each of his parents allegedly receives twice the allowance HA receives. However, FB could not do anything about the parents’ allowances, as this benefit is allegedly part of the contract they signed with a big corporation, who had a hand in making sure HA played with PU.
Will this development have an impact in the playing attitude of HA? The sports season opens soon, and in case the playing intensity of HA dips, then, we can only assume that money, indeed, can affect one’s performance.
Real equality is immensely difficult to achieve, it needs continual revision and monitoring of distributions. And it does not provide buffers between members, so they are continually colliding or frustrating each other. - Mary Douglas

ReplyDeleteis this C? or K?
ReplyDeleteSadly most sports these days are all about money.
ReplyDeleteSi J ba ito na mahilig ma****?
ReplyDeleteHe plays his heart and soul in every game. I dont think money will affect him.
ReplyDeletemas ok sya kesa dun sa isa na may disturbing na n/b/g. hahahaha peace y'all!
ReplyDeleteSi J ba to? Na may k n ma g?

ReplyDeleteakala ko matalino pero i heard may subject sya ngayon na lagi syang absent at laging late naka zero pa sa exam. bakit ganon akala ko model student pa naman sya
ReplyDeleteK?
ReplyDeleteJ from V! :)
ReplyDeleteSa dami ng endorsements nila baka barya na lang allowance nila. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteEx-bf and giddy
ReplyDeleteMali. At di puwedeng tawaging sports benefactor si "giddy". Iba yung one-time tulong lang. Ang mga benefactors would come from big corporations/companies.
DeleteMukhang di naman si K kasi nalaos na yun wala na mashado endorsements. Puro kaartehan kasi.
ReplyDeleteKung si J yan malabo. Barya na lang ang allowance niyan sa kita niya sa endorsements.
ReplyDeletebuti na lang for the benefactor to do this move.
ReplyDeleteKung ang artista nga may benefactors kahit malaki ng talent fee, athlete pa kaya. Sure si J!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with money as reward as long as you deliver. This is J and frankly they don't need more money because they're rich already. It's just a matter of they get what they deserve.
ReplyDeleteJ. Sure yun. You'll never know kung gaano kayaman si benefactor. Sky is the limit :)
ReplyDeleteIf this is J, malabo.
ReplyDeleteThis is j for sure!!!..althou according to my blockmate before may big buisness daw yung fam nya so...i don't know why he'd still need more money.lol
ReplyDeleteThis is clearly J. Since the university's benefactor return - he has steered the team back to its glory days....not K since the university's benefactor has been around for the last couple of years....
ReplyDeleteJ na may b?
ReplyDeleteAnong b?
DeleteAng alam ko nag improve si J. I don't think he plays for money. Sobrang ayaw nyang natatalo ang team. He brought back the winning tradition.
ReplyDelete"J". he has always been a great player. i dont think he'll let money affect his playing, they have always been rich.
ReplyDeleteThere are things money can't buy in this world. Like, one's performance, stamina, endurance and strategy to play a sport. Just like how Anne Curtis can never sound like Sarah Geronimo - regardless of how much money she has. DUH
