But the business conglomerate discovered massive unnecessary spending by the healing priest, according to an SMC insider, and thus withdrew its support from the project.
“Before, Father Suarez would come to RSA’s office wearing only a T-shirt and sandals, but now he wears expensive clothes and watches, stays in five-star hotels and attends tennis matches like the Wimbledon Classic and the French Open,” said the SMC insider.
Ramon S. Ang, president and CEO of San Miguel Corp. is “RSA” to his subordinates.
RSA, who wears an ordinary collared shirt to work, has faith in the healing power of Father Suarez, but he was reportedly “shocked” at the priest’s change of lifestyle.
Ang is a devout Catholic and his wife is a member of Opus Dei, an organization of ultraconservative Catholic laymen.
When SMC, as a principal benefactor, ordered an audit of Father Suarez’s Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation, the business conglomerate discovered that the foundation had spent money left and right without supporting documents.
Examples:
The foundation acquired the Little Bridge Resort in Butong, Taal town in Batangas province, saying it paid P55 million out of the total purchase price of P74 million.
There were no documents to support the transaction.
The foundation reimbursed spouses Bong and Elvie Garcia $850,727.20 using its dollar account, supposedly for the donation of the Sto. Niño chapel in Pagkilatan, Batangas City.
What was the reimbursement for if the chapel was donated?
Construction work for the Tabernacle 3 of St. Peter’s Chapel in Butong, Taal, Batangas at P17,827,412.04 in 2008 and 2009.
There were no documents proving the amount was donated.
Donation of P7,249,950 by Teresa Chan for the acquisition of a 102,795-sq m property, but only P3,101,850 was booked.
Many rich people healed by Father Suarez have given him hundreds of thousands and even millions of pesos out of gratitude.
But when asked why his foundation was short on finances, the priest was reportedly heard saying: “Sa akin binigay ang pera. Bakit ko ibibigay sa aking foundation (The money was given to me. Why should I give it to my foundation)?”
Suarez’s high living led to the resignations of Archbishop Chito Tagle as chair of Mother Mary of the Poor Foundation on Sept. 27, 2012; Antonio Tambunting as vice chair on Oct. 2, 2012; and Jun Mangilit as treasurer on Oct. 3, 2012.
* * *
SMC under Ang donates to worthy causes.
The firm’s more than P1-billion donation for the rehabilitation of Eastern Visayas after the devastation wrought by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” makes it one of the biggest benefactors of calamity victims.
The construction alone of 5,000 houses, each costing P200,000, will amount to P1 billion.
That does not include the construction of hundreds of schoolhouses and the deployment of hundreds of heavy equipment and personnel to help in the reconstruction of Eastern Visayas.
It is therefore not surprising that Ang pledged a billion-peso donation to build Suarez’s shrine, thinking it would be a pilgrimage site.
To SMC, the amount is peanuts given the money it sets aside for corporate social responsibility projects.
But it would have been very unwise of Ang to continue supporting a religious project whose initiator is living the life of the rich and famous when his life should be monastic.
Bka ibang god yan.
DeleteManalo will attack this in his CEntral Pulpit.
Kaso under Ito ng teachings ng mga Jesuit like most of the religion in the world under ng cunning and intelligent Jesuits Hindi Lang alam ng lahat! Like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, new age, pinalalabas Lang nila na matatandang religions na mga Ito pero kung pagaaralan nyong mabuti Jesuits ang gumawa at nagmason ng history ng buong mundo since loyola era inspired by the Augustinians, benedictans, Dominicans, franciscans! Inspired by Constantine and the niceans/nicolatians!

ReplyDeleteKahilachahan Neto Si baligod e!

ReplyDeleteSige, push mo yan. Libre lang naman ang naiveté, so go ahead and yourself on it.
DeleteUmmmm... NO. I am not saying he should live in poverty but if he is really a good person, he should put to good use whatever money was given to him. If it is, this gift of healing was given to the wrong person.
DeleteActually, he SHOULD live in poverty. Kaya nga may Vow of Poverty ang mga pari. Kaloka sila.
DeleteBaka yang gift of healing niya sa iba nagmula para makalinlang.
Deletehindi lahat ng priests are required to take the vow of poverty. depende kung saang order sila. regardless of whether or not this priest took it, it's still in bad taste for a priest to be acting that way.
Deleteyung mga madre ang required talaga to take that vow.
Nakakaawa.:*(
DeleteGrabe naman yang priest na yan nakakahiya
ReplyDeleteTsk tsk tsk, money is the root of all evil!
It's not the money but rather 'The Love of Money...'
DeleteFor the LOVE of Money is the root of all evil! Umayos ka!
DeleteOmg! Suarez. Tsk! Nasilaw na sa pera.
ReplyDeleteShame on him! Thanks FP for publishing this.
Delete1:19, what's with your comment? Nothing good to say, you shut up!
DeleteNot everyone has time to watch tv.
I believe in GOD, my Father Almighty but I stopped going to Church Long Time ago.
ReplyDeleteWe share the same sentiments. I lost faith in the catholic church a long time ago but i still believe there is a God
DeleteA lot of people, and I'm not referring to one religion alone, gives this sorry excuse for not attending worship in a church, synagogue, mosque, temple etc anymore by saying they lost faith in their religious leaders or in their religion but in fact are just lazy to do anything to make their faith grow or just plain lazy to haul their butts off to attend whatever religious service they should be going to. What is stopping you to attend another church, another place of worship, another religion where you will find your God? Don't let the failure of a few religious leaders dampen your spiritual life, because in any religion good leaders abound more than a handful of crooked ones. May you find your God and may He find you through true leaders and a community of faithful followers. But do your part first.
But to be fair to them, naging tour guide naman sila ng pinsan ko.
Delete@12:57AM tama. bayad na ang soul natin kaya wala na tayong dapat bayaran. it's up to us kung tatanggapin natin si Jesus as our Saviour. He died for EVERYONE but sadly not everyone believes in Him as a Saviour. yung iba, iba ang sinasamba.
Delete</3... Nainterview pa naman siya before sa isang docu...he was like humble and all... Nonetheless, I hope to hear his side of the story para balanced pa rin...
ReplyDeletei'm not surprise, eto na ung pinagmamalaki ng tita ko.. hays! sorry pero parang expected na to, sana hindi ganon si pope francis..
ReplyDeletehayyy I do believe believe in God but I have lost my faith on the Catholic church and its priests a long time ago...
ReplyDeleteSo be it. Carholic church or any other religion wont save u. Its ur faith and ur personal relation with ur Creator.
ReplyDeleteI condemn this but I never lost my faith on the Catholic church. It's not the whole religion's fault that these things are happening. Even though, i don't go to church often, my faith is still strong and firm.
ReplyDeleteTuhmuh!
Deletewell said. the rotten fruit in the system is not the system itself.
DeleteTrue! its not about the religion or your faith. the priests or pastors alike are humans too so they can still commit sin. besides hndi nmn tayo sa mga pari nanampalataya kundi sa Diyos. dadating din ang karma sa mga taong ganid at mapagsamatala.
DeleteI wish everyone is as open minded as the two of you. Religious leaders and their actions (or inaction) do not define a religion. As I said earlier good leaders abound more than bad ones. In stories like this we should not arrive on conclusions based on one-sided stories, we cannot judge a person if we have not walked a mile in their shoes.
DeleteFlawed clergy is never a reason for leaving the Church, not even a scandal. You don't abandon Peter and the Apostles because of Judas.
Deleteif you want to get rich, be a politician and priest!
ReplyDelete...and a pastor kamo!
Yung isa every samba nila may attendance at bayad
Yung iba sapilitan magbigay ng pera
Ang religion ngayon puro pera na lang
Usually naman kahit anong church may donation kasi meron expenses to run any type of organization (religious or non-religious). But remember the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
The tithe is for the Levites or those who work in the church. it's NOT ours to begin with. It is the Lord's. He commanded His people to bring the tithes in the church to feed those who labor in the Lord. (Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house...) (1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.) Take note, those who rule well. hindi yung nag-papamisa na may bayad, nagpapabinyag na may bayad, nagpapadasal na may bayad. wala naman sa Bible yan. Laboring in the Lord means sharing the Gospel to everyone for free. Jesus died for our sins and ransomed our souls na dapat sana tayo ang magbabayad sa hell. Jesus did not say na bayaran natin yung ginawa nyang sacrifice. He died, was buried, and resurrected. that is the Gospel. tradition na lang ng tao yang pagbayad sa church services para mailigtas ang soul ng tao. Bayad na lahat. Jesus said it is finished. You just have to believe in Him and trust Him to get saved. Tithing is not for the salvation of our soul. And also even the Levites or church workers do tithing. it won't be hard for you to give the tithe kung iisipin mo na hindi sa yo yon. And before mag-give dapat alam ng tao kung bakit para hindi yung pride ang mangibabaw. i know there are some who are making business out of it BUT God is not mocked. And you also mentioned about the schools. If you mean Christian Schools like A.C.E., those schools are supported by the church members because they want their kids to have a good foundation in God's Word. (Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.)
Kaya dna ako magugulat bakit bglang yaman yan
ReplyDeleteGumaling ang mama ko through the intercession Fr. Suarez. Nag serve si mama sa prison before and Fr. Suarez was there for a healing mass. Hindi naman niya kilala si Mama pero sinabi niya na you will be healed from thyroid disease. When my cousin did a complete thyroidectomy on my Mom a month after she told us na yung isang part mukhang cancerous na talaga but she said the biopsy will confirm if it is. Her biopsy returned and it was benign. We never gave any money but we thanked him in another mass. My good friend who wasn't able to conceive for the longest time was blessed enough to attend a healing mass of Fr. Suarez in the States because her sister had cancer. Pag dating ni Fr. Suarez sa kanya he asked her what her healing request was, sabi niya "I'm here for my sister who has cancer." Fr. asked "Where's your sister?" Katabi lang niya, so Fr. Suarez prayed over her sister. He went back to my friend he asked her again "Ikaw, yung para sayo what healing are you praying for?" My friend said "Actually Fr. we have been trying to conceive but it hasn't happened." Fr. Suarez asked her "where's your husband?" and he prayed over them. My friend was 41 yrs old that time and has lost hope of ever having a child because one of her ovaries had to be taken out when she had a myoma as big as a new born baby's head. 3 months after and she forgot about the healing session she became pregnant and had her first baby at 42. We attended together a healing session again after, never gave a centavo but she gave Fr. Suarez a picture of her baby, a testament of God's grace through Fr.'s intercession.
While my younger sister died 5 years ago.
Not all the priest and pastor Tulad ni Suarez Kung Totoo man Ito... Just pray for them na Lang... I still go to church and believe in God Kahit dami issues and chips is about them.
ReplyDeleteHaist!!! daanin na lang sa kanta itetch...
ReplyDeleteIt seems like everybody's got a price. I wonder how they sleep at night
When the sale comes first and the truth come second Just stop for a minute and smile
Why is everybody so serious? Acting so damn mysterious Got your shades on your eyes and your heels so high That you can't even have a good time Everybody look to their left Everybody look to their right Can you feel that? We're paying with love tonight
It's not about the money, money, money We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance Forget about the price tag... father!
napakanta naman ako dito... hehe
Deletesana d ito totoo
ReplyDeletePope Benedict resigned because the powerful gay mafia clergy was angry at him when it was revealed he was trying to expose lavish lifestyle and and sexual expenditures for male prostitutes by gay Vatican priests.see article in vanity fair.
ReplyDeleteParang ung pari d2 sa bulacan. Madaming business. At lgi nagttour out of d country.
ReplyDeleteSAAN PO SA BULACAN?
DeleteKung totoo man ito nakakalungkot.
ReplyDeletesigns of the times indeed. malapit na ang paghuhukom
Remember how many priests corrupted young boys and young girls pati na mga madre at mga kapwa priests.
ReplyDeleteAng teaching ni God is good. Sabi nga ni God sa isang mayaman... give everything to the poor and follow me. Sa huli, pera pera lang yan. You can only serve one master.
ReplyDeleteto RSA and San Miguel Corp. MABUHAY PO KAYO! kasiyahan nawa po kayo ng MAYKAPAL! and to Fr. Suarez...ambot! kahit saang gubat may ahas.
ReplyDeleteSusmaryosep.kya pla d gumaling tatay k nung pumunta dto peke nmn pla.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. The love of money is the root of all evil!
ReplyDeleteThese are purely allegations..let's give Fr. Suarez the benefit of the doubt.
ReplyDeletei have a little doubt before when i saw him personally. kinda disappointed in this priest. not saying im perfect catholic but my beliefs lies there. we never generalize that all of them are the same, but it might be. sad truth...
DeleteGood for you 10:12 at nare-realize mo na rin na umalis sa Catholicism where every doctrine is man-made...
ReplyDeletedaming uto uto, healing priest?????
ReplyDeleteTama! Let not the action of your religious leaders define your relationship with God and your belief in your faith. Let your action and witnessing as a true and faithful member of your religion be your defining guide.
DeleteHad relatives who fr suarez helped to recover from illness. But yes he is known for being materialistic dati pa. Nakakalungkot lang because he is legit he does help people recover. Sana hindi siya nasilaw sa pera.
ReplyDeleteA priest is a person and 100 percent human too and are also vulnerable to temptations by the devil. Rebuke him-we must--because it is our obligation to rebuke our brothers or sisters who go astray, not because we feel we are clean, but because we want him to walk the good path and back to the life the good Lord wants us to live. Sad that because of pastors/priests who fall become the cause of people leaving the church. We should pray for ourselves to be truly faithful, and add our religious leaders too. They need our prayers as much as we do. Also, I hope we realize that the Lord does not want us to judge people, be holier than thou like the pharisees of old, but to be truly Christians who knows how to truly love their neighbor/brother/sister.
ReplyDeleteCalling Ms.Kim Henares of BIR paki lifestyle check nga po si Father....
ReplyDeleteTax-free pa lahat yan.
ReplyDeletehindi ako catholic, pero kayo naman... si Judas nga pinagbili si Jesus for 30 silver coins e. ang ibig kong sabihin e merong natutukso talaga sa pera, pero hindi yun LAHAT na totally corrupt or magnanakaw. nag-give-in lang sila sa temptations nila.
ReplyDeletengayon, kung itong pari na to e talagang nagsisisi, well, kailangan nyang maging transparent. hingi sya ng tawad.
Push mo yan.
DeleteThis is why priests should pay taxes.
ReplyDeleteChurch and all other religious organizations should pay tax. In Germany, people who have religion pay a separate "church tax"
ReplyDeletenakaattend na ba kayo ng healing mass ni father suarez? try attending before you judge him. he's a priest, not an accountant.
ReplyDeleteHe is not an accountant so he doesn't know what a lavish lifestyle is?
ReplyDeleteShame on you SUAREZ!! Many of your country men are starving. You should instead help those needy people and not enrich yourself with all the donations you have collected from your believers. Are you really a "Healing Priest" ?????? or just pretending to be one????
ReplyDeletethis is how the devil works on priets' minds, tempting them.
ReplyDelete
