The Healing Priest’s Rich Lifestyle

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) could well have underwritten the construction of the proposed P1-billion shrine to Mother Mary, a project of Fr. Fernando Suarez in Cavite province.

But the business conglomerate discovered massive unnecessary spending by the healing priest, according to an SMC insider, and thus withdrew its support from the project.

“Before, Father Suarez would come to RSA’s office wearing only a T-shirt and sandals, but now he wears expensive clothes and watches, stays in five-star hotels and attends tennis matches like the Wimbledon Classic and the French Open,” said the SMC insider.

Ramon S. Ang, president and CEO of San Miguel Corp. is “RSA” to his subordinates.

RSA, who wears an ordinary collared shirt to work, has faith in the healing power of Father Suarez, but he was reportedly “shocked” at the priest’s change of lifestyle.

Ang is a devout Catholic and his wife is a member of Opus Dei, an organization of ultraconservative Catholic laymen.

When SMC, as a principal benefactor, ordered an audit of Father Suarez’s Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation, the business conglomerate discovered that the foundation had spent money left and right without supporting documents.

Examples:

The foundation acquired the Little Bridge Resort in Butong, Taal town in Batangas province, saying it paid P55 million out of the total purchase price of P74 million.

There were no documents to support the transaction.

The foundation reimbursed spouses Bong and Elvie Garcia $850,727.20 using its dollar account, supposedly for the donation of the Sto. Niño chapel in Pagkilatan, Batangas City.

What was the reimbursement for if the chapel was donated?

Construction work for the Tabernacle 3 of St. Peter’s Chapel in Butong, Taal, Batangas at P17,827,412.04 in 2008 and 2009.

There were no documents proving the amount was donated.

Donation of P7,249,950 by Teresa Chan for the acquisition of a 102,795-sq m property, but only P3,101,850 was booked.

Many rich people healed by Father Suarez have given him hundreds of thousands and even millions of pesos out of gratitude.

But when asked why his foundation was short on finances, the priest was reportedly heard saying: “Sa akin binigay ang pera. Bakit ko ibibigay sa aking foundation (The money was given to me. Why should I give it to my foundation)?”

Suarez’s high living led to the resignations of Archbishop Chito Tagle as chair of Mother Mary of the Poor Foundation on Sept. 27, 2012; Antonio Tambunting as vice chair on Oct. 2, 2012; and Jun Mangilit as treasurer on Oct. 3, 2012.

* * *

SMC under Ang donates to worthy causes.

The firm’s more than P1-billion donation for the rehabilitation of Eastern Visayas after the devastation wrought by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” makes it one of the biggest benefactors of calamity victims.

The construction alone of 5,000 houses, each costing P200,000, will amount to P1 billion.

That does not include the construction of hundreds of schoolhouses and the deployment of hundreds of heavy equipment and personnel to help in the reconstruction of Eastern Visayas.

It is therefore not surprising that Ang pledged a billion-peso donation to build Suarez’s shrine, thinking it would be a pilgrimage site.

To SMC, the amount is peanuts given the money it sets aside for corporate social responsibility projects.

But it would have been very unwise of Ang to continue supporting a religious project whose initiator is living the life of the rich and famous when his life should be monastic.

    3. A lot of people, and I'm not referring to one religion alone, gives this sorry excuse for not attending worship in a church, synagogue, mosque, temple etc anymore by saying they lost faith in their religious leaders or in their religion but in fact are just lazy to do anything to make their faith grow or just plain lazy to haul their butts off to attend whatever religious service they should be going to. What is stopping you to attend another church, another place of worship, another religion where you will find your God? Don't let the failure of a few religious leaders dampen your spiritual life, because in any religion good leaders abound more than a handful of crooked ones. May you find your God and may He find you through true leaders and a community of faithful followers. But do your part first.

    4. @12:57AM tama. bayad na ang soul natin kaya wala na tayong dapat bayaran. it's up to us kung tatanggapin natin si Jesus as our Saviour. He died for EVERYONE but sadly not everyone believes in Him as a Saviour. yung iba, iba ang sinasamba. Kaya take advantage din ang mga lobo, ginagawang negosyo. it's like your paying for a lifetime para maligtas ang soul. tapos pag namatay ka naman hindi pa rin guaranteed na mapupunta sa langit ang soul so padasal na naman sa patay at bayad na naman ulit. i mean hanggang kailan ka magbabayad para sa padasal sa patay? pano mo malalaman na wala na sa purgatoryo? or nasa langit na? at kung wala kang friends o relatives kasi mag-isa ka na lang, sino pa ang magdadasal at magbabayad sa soul mo para mapunta ka ang sa langit? you see gawa gawa lang ng tao yang mga tradition na yan para magkapera. ni wala ngang purgatoryo sa Bible.

Natatawa aq kapag ng ha house to house sila pra dw mg preach.

But remember the Lord loves a cheerful giver.

    2. Hi po. The tithe is for the Levites or those who work in the church. it's NOT ours to begin with. It is the Lord's. He commanded His people to bring the tithes in the church to feed those who labor in the Lord. (Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house...) (1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.) Take note, those who rule well. hindi yung nag-papamisa na may bayad, nagpapabinyag na may bayad, nagpapadasal na may bayad. wala naman sa Bible yan. Laboring in the Lord means sharing the Gospel to everyone for free. Jesus died for our sins and ransomed our souls na dapat sana tayo ang magbabayad sa hell. Jesus did not say na bayaran natin yung ginawa nyang sacrifice. He died, was buried, and resurrected. that is the Gospel. tradition na lang ng tao yang pagbayad sa church services para mailigtas ang soul ng tao. Bayad na lahat. Jesus said it is finished. You just have to believe in Him and trust Him to get saved. Tithing is not for the salvation of our soul. And also even the Levites or church workers do tithing. it won't be hard for you to give the tithe kung iisipin mo na hindi sa yo yon. And before mag-give dapat alam ng tao kung bakit para hindi yung pride ang mangibabaw. i know there are some who are making business out of it BUT God is not mocked. Siya na ang bahala sa mga taong yan. And you also mentioned about the schools. If you mean Christian Schools like A.C.E., those schools are supported by the church members because they want their kids to have a good foundation in God's Word. (Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.)

    1. Gumaling ang mama ko through the intercession Fr. Suarez. Nag serve si mama sa prison before and Fr. Suarez was there for a healing mass. Hindi naman niya kilala si Mama pero sinabi niya na you will be healed from thyroid disease. When my cousin did a complete thyroidectomy on my Mom a month after she told us na yung isang part mukhang cancerous na talaga but she said the biopsy will confirm if it is. Her biopsy returned and it was benign. We never gave any money but we thanked him in another mass. My good friend who wasn't able to conceive for the longest time was blessed enough to attend a healing mass of Fr. Suarez in the States because her sister had cancer. Pag dating ni Fr. Suarez sa kanya he asked her what her healing request was, sabi niya "I'm here for my sister who has cancer." Fr. asked "Where's your sister?" Katabi lang niya, so Fr. Suarez prayed over her sister. He went back to my friend he asked her again "Ikaw, yung para sayo what healing are you praying for?" My friend said "Actually Fr. we have been trying to conceive but it hasn't happened." Fr. Suarez asked her "where's your husband?" and he prayed over them. My friend was 41 yrs old that time and has lost hope of ever having a child because one of her ovaries had to be taken out when she had a myoma as big as a new born baby's head. 3 months after and she forgot about the healing session she became pregnant and had her first baby at 42. We attended together a healing session again after, never gave a centavo but she gave Fr. Suarez a picture of her baby, a testament of God's grace through Fr.'s intercession. Sana maayos lahat wala namang nilagay si Lord na inherently bad sa mundo, napapariwara minsan pero matutuwid din.

  49. A priest is a person and 100 percent human too and are also vulnerable to temptations by the devil. Rebuke him-we must--because it is our obligation to rebuke our brothers or sisters who go astray, not because we feel we are clean, but because we want him to walk the good path and back to the life the good Lord wants us to live. Sad that because of pastors/priests who fall become the cause of people leaving the church. We should pray for ourselves to be truly faithful, and add our religious leaders too. They need our prayers as much as we do. Also, I hope we realize that the Lord does not want us to judge people, be holier than thou like the pharisees of old, but to be truly Christians who knows how to truly love their neighbor/brother/sister.

ngayon, kung itong pari na to e talagang nagsisisi, well, kailangan nyang maging transparent. hingi sya ng tawad.

  58. Shame on you SUAREZ!! Many of your country men are starving. You should instead help those needy people and not enrich yourself with all the donations you have collected from your believers. Are you really a "Healing Priest" ?????? or just pretending to be one????
