  1. Ariella is a disgrace. She should have never been sent to Miss Universe 2013. Janina San Miguel should have been given that role.

    3. Si Janina talaga? Kaloka.

    4. i dont understand the hate, she speaks typical of a Filipino. listen to yourselves when you speak english, matigas talaga ang accent natin, especially those of us who were raised/ first language is Filipino. akala niyo lang na wala kayong accent, pero meron. and i think that the accent is part of the charm sa Miss Universe, that makes the contestant very unique, it will show her nationality or ethnicity. But the thing is, Ara is not confident. (probably because she is bashed by her own people) and that showed a lot during the pageant.

    2. Sana ikaw at mga fault-finder na gaya mo ang sinalanta ni Yolanda and not the poor Leytenos!

    1. Actually the way Miss Venezuela speaks English is funny too. See even in an accent may discrimination din.

    1. 12:22 Actually, it has something to do with their pride as a Latina. That's why you will never see a Latina answer in anything other than Portuguese/Spanish during the Q&A portions of beauty pageants.

    2. She can't kasi limited ang vocabulary nya.

    3. Ms Venezuela has an interpreter kasi she is proud of her language although she know she can speak English she'd rather showcase to the world the beauty of her language and you can see in her interview that she is really smart. Ariela should've done the same instead of trying hard to speak English and she should've gotten the answer right.

      Delete
    4. O sige sabihin na nating pride chuchu pagsasalita niya ng Spanish pero NAKAKAINTINDI siya so di na kailangang iinterpret pa nagkakaroon pa tuloy ng time magisip ng sagot.

    5. 12:39 and 1:22 sige ipush nio pa yan.lame excuse.naniwala naman kayo?

    6. Ariella gave a good answer naman ah! She was vindicated in saying that she can deliver because she did deliver! Bakit hangang ngayon pinaglalaban pa rin ng mga nagmamarunong dito na she should have used an interperter ek ek???

  6. Venezuelans would think Ariella speaks good English, in the same way that Filipinos would think the same of Gabriella.

  8. You've got to love Miss U's confidence! She's so articulate, totally comfortable during her interview, and she speaks English so well. No language barrier whatsoever. Philippine bets should train with John Powers or other schools of the same kind to hone their skills in public speaking and to make them more confident.

    ReplyDelete
  9. based on the questions asked, Ariella's able to respond articulately. not bad. i doubt if many pinoys could actually speak straight english without stammering. ariella spoke smoothly -never mind those grammar lapses which are not many.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agree! She may have problems with pronunciation, other than that she had finesse and spoke smoothly during the interview.

  10. Ms Venezuela had confidence... but TAKE NOTE that this is a post-pageant interview - meaning, she is already basking on her winning the crown. who would not exude such confidence - wrong grammar and all? maybe Ariella would have been completely transformed if she also won the crown... besides, Ms Venezuela was a former TV anchor, so she at least has been trained to be in front of the TV camera..

Still, I am proud of Ariella - she was at her brightest in the competition - I would say she did not deserve to be 3rd Runner-up... She should have placed higher that that, if not Miss Universe....

    1. I work with loads of spanish and Portuguese native speakers and all of them speak english perfectly. I think these candidates are just playing safe. Ara's english is fine. Very Filipino.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Not necessarily if its her preference to use an interpreter.

    2. hindi it is an option. si riyo mori of japan and ximena navarete ginawa rin yan.

  17. Ariella doesn't try too hard and that's what I love about her. Totoo lang ang pinapakita niya. Di nmn horrible ang grammar lapses, if any.

  18. Those who hated me coz of my tweet after her bandila interview na with that kind of talking (diction, pronounciation etc) wont make her win the pageant can now kiss my A!!!...

  19. May sense ang answers ni ariella. Matindi lang talaga filipino accent nya. But thats fine. Accent does not define one' beauty nor intellect

    1. Seriously? Madalas kaya malayo yung sagot nya sa tanong.

    2. actually, an accent has never been an issue in any international platform…madaming germans who can speak excellent english or french people who can speak perfect english but they still have the accent. The issue with ariella, is she's not articulate and she's not confident, hindi lumalabas ang magandang personality combine it with her poor english skills = excruciating to watch talaga.
She has the answers but she can't "articulate" or "expound" her answers….

Madadaya! English is the worlds second language, dapat gawing ruling ng miss u org na they should answer in English , Kung ang mga Filipina at Ibang Lahi nakukuha nilang Sumagot in English kahit na hirap bakit Hindi ang Latin candidates. It's not that we are not proud of our language pero for the sake na maintindihan ng buong mundo ang sagot eh di ba ini English ng interpreter ang sagot ng mga Latina. TRAPO TALAGA!

    1. hoy relax ka lang dyan! si ariella naman pwede ring mag-request ng translator kung sa tingin nya mas mai-express nya nang maigi ang sagot nya. hindi daya yon, strategy yon. kaya nga ako, advocate ako ng pilipino language (tagalog, bisaya, bicolano, chabakano, atbp) sa mga ganyang pageants kasi they allow other people to get a glimpse kung paano tayo ka-fun! diba?

      Delete
    2. Wow, parang nakalimutan natin iyong sagot ni Janine dati a. It is their choice to have an interpreter or not.

  23. Ariella is a shame, she must eating all her racy words now. Shame.

I worked in an English speaking country before and they admire how good Filipinos are in English. kahit sila na first language nila ang English e mali-mali din ang grammar and mahina ang English vocabulary. we should be proud of our race. kung di tayo sino pa magmamahal sa lahi natin? please grow up people.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And your point is?

What most people point out is that Ariella could have used an interpreter herself. Why cannot we start having an interpreter sa pageants? The whole world does not care if we could talk straight english or not!

      Delete

  28. heck with those grammar, diction, and accent nazis here.

i find miss venezuela's accent so exotic and that might have been the same thoughts of other folks hearing miss venezuela and miss philipippines' accent as well.

don't you guys notice? those who reach the top 5 have something in common. they are all natural and don't try too hard to impress others.

confidence might have been miss venezuela's edge though. and she also has very strong features nonetheless she is beautiful.

    natotomboy na naman ako.......... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  30. problem with ariella is just the accent. but she definitely understand and can repsond correctly, and that's what's important. for ms. venezuela, while she can speak english, she doesn't get most of the questions asked by the host and the other people who joined in (in the interview), hence, the answers that doesn't make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Analyze the question for Ms Phil Sa Miss U, and the content of her answer. Then you would know why 3rd place Lang sya.

  34. ariella expresses herself really well and she has better grammar. pronounciation-wise, i think both of them sound cute with their respective accents. sa panahon ngayon, mas importante ang naiintindihan ka, kahit ano pa accent mo.

  35. grammar and pronunciation aside, the fact that Miss Venezuela chose to have an interpreter, even if she is fluent in English, should make it also acceptable for us to use an interpreter in the future.

  36. between the 2, i think ara is more beautiful and smarter and mas magaling magsalita. mas confident lang si ms. venezuela.
