I think inspiration cause u know when ur in good mood ur imspired maybe the time veejay made it he was inspired so it comes up inspiration not really immitaion in my opinion
I think ang ginaya lang is yung detail sa likod. Yung sa harap, they're different enough and, as you said, basic enough, na you can pass off the commonality as coincidence.
In my honest opinion, that design is kinda common na in our designers. Parang filipiniana na couture. If I construct a building, basically all buildings look the same. So im not necesarily stealing the look of a building coz almost all buildings are shaped like a rectangle. So I think inspiration lang. Mejo late 2005 nga ang ganyang trend
Friends, clients, and admirers of Veluz have told Veluz that copying is a form of flattery, pero siguro if hindi ka lang naman isang beses gayahin hindi ka na maflatter. Maiinis ka na din.
Inspiration..
Really? Parang too thick and rough kay Veejay na materials ah. And ang soft and weightless tignan. Just my opinion
It's not an exact copy. But that back is definitely copied. Even if imitation is the best form of flattery, or so they say, it is painful to see hard work just copied by anyone.
Asus. Pwede ba. At ang concept na yan is not attributable to a single designer.
neither imitation nor inspiration. it's a generic filipiniana design for the top and since uso ang organza, yun ang ginamit sa skirt part. kung may ginayahan sila, yung organza ni vera wang yun at ang unang gumawa nung filipiniana sleeves (top)
the fit really is horrible, isnt it? the top is all boxy. im sure he and his supporters will say that's the way it's supposed to be but it's not. there's no excuse for poor fit and construction. what's fascinating to me is how social media has allowed designers to become self proclaimed celebrities. but there's no constructive critical reflection going on about the work. basta lahat: "omg i laaav it." or "amazing sis!" or "ikaw na!" it's all empty adorations that deprives the work of getting better.
...in other words, veejay's taste level is tacky and his construction is subpar.
The filipiniana sleeve can be done by any Filipino designer. But the way it was done was definitely copied. We all know the embroidery and beading is Veluz's style. Agree. It screams Veluz.
IMITATION. Pinoy designers are devoid of originality
ReplyDeleteVeluz is a pinoy designer. FYI. And she is an original.
DeleteTamah....
DeleteGosh! Kopyang kopya
ReplyDeleteAh eto ba ung suot ni Maya? Maganda.
ReplyDeleteI think inspiration cause u know when ur in good mood ur imspired maybe the time veejay made it he was inspired so it comes up inspiration not really immitaion in my opinion
ReplyDeleteFor me, nagkataon lang. Napakabasic ng design.

ReplyDeleteVeejay definitely copied this from Veluz. Mahilig naman mangopya yang si Veejay.
ReplyDeleteTrue
DeleteI follow him in ig! Down to earth naman ata sya. Love his designs. Trade mark nya ata ung mga layerings.

ReplyDeleteinspiration. basic filipiniana form + heavily embellished top/body + ruffled/bias flange skirt
ReplyDeleteInspired to copy!
ReplyDeleteInspiration... kasi pag imitation totally magkapareho... i think :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think this is copied. Also may distinct style din naman si Veejay if you browse his works online, I admire his design skills. :)
ReplyDeleteChos
DeleteInspiration.
ReplyDeleteReally? Parang too thick and rough kay Veejay na materials ah. And ang soft and weightless tignan. Just my opinion

ReplyDeleteMagkaiba naman...
ReplyDeleteyung year.
veejay's trademark has always been ruffled layers. his style of layering is classier and modern. even the choice of fabric is very now.
ReplyDeleteas opposed to veluz's style of layering - which is outdated. 2 years apart but you can obviously see how "old-looking" veluz's style is.
the filipiniana's terno can only be altered in so few ways.
these are 2 designers with different aesthetic styles.
in the world of art/fashion, nothing is really original.
The fit looks horrible!

veejay's taste level is questionable. he's overrated.
ReplyDeleteThe embroidery screams veluz, tbh. And it's not veejay's style, if you look at his designs.
