    3. Jojoke Lang wala pang humor!

    1. Actually, it suits him. He's a governor, and he is called Sir. And obviously, he's the local "chief" executive of his province. Not only that, he promotes Albay's tourism not only here, but internationally. So...it makes sense to use a name catchy and familiar enough to describe all of him, don't you think? It's all marketing - name recall, branding, labeling, etc. Oh, one more thing, you might find the name jeje, but rest assured the person is not. Last I heard, he's elected as the first Asian chair of the UN Green Climate Fund.

  6. He may sound insensitive but Gov. Salceda is one of our most trusted men in disaster preparation. Let's be mad when someone throws humor pero walang ginagawa but this man knows and understands disasters at marami na din naman syang successful projects.

    2. 12:14 So what if siya ang "one of our most trusted men in disaster preparation"? Does that give anyone the license to be happy over someone else's misfortune? Shungels lang eh!

      Delete
    3. 1:03 I hope you know the difference of humor and being happy? It's not as if he's gloating, he's describing with humor where the typhoon landed. Samar, Leyte, etc, are islands. Yolanda had different times of landfall to the region's islands. Now I hope you get the bigger picture now?

    4. Hi Gov!

  8. people, have some humor.

  9. He's not being insensitive nor sarcastic. Get a grip! The Visayas is of how many islands? And where did this typhoon go? Obviously it went to several places crossing seas as the region is not one big island mass, isn't it? Besides, he's a Filipino who can somehow find humor during trying times. That is one of our traits, admit it or not.

  12. whatever he meant, he just want to put smile on the face to us.. wala naman atang ibig sabihin si Gov. Joey.. just look on the way he handles disaster preparedness. for how many years, Albay maintained a zero casualty when it comes to calamities like this.

    1. Yeah. That post was Friday describing the typhoon's movement. Nothing more than that. Sigh, some people only want to see what they want to see. Island hopping was also used as description by some news headlines.

  15. why are we so concerned with being too politically correct at the expense of losing our sense of humor? it was a joke. period. it didn't meant to demean or make fun of someone in particular. the problem with pinoys is that we have been feed with sexist and okray jokes on noontime shows that we fail to recognize a good hearted joke and find it offensive.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Almost everything now had become offensive. Duh, can't believe the comments of others. Guys, where did your humor go? If "island-hopping" is offensive, then how about others who had described the movement as such, even using it as title for news articles?

      Delete
  16. In poor taste, horrible timing! #morethan1200preciousliveslost

    1. The post was Friday, Nov 8. So that time, he was still describing how the typhoon was moving, with some humor. No malice intended, That news of 1200 or more lose of lives were only YESTERDAY. So why question the timing???

      Delete
  17. While it seems that he is probably trying to inject humor in what the nation faces it seems insensitive now that videos and footages of the devastation are surfacing. We see stunned faces of victims who have lost loved one, not just one but more than one, a whole family, a whole neighborhood. We see dead bodies lying, floating around. Where is the fun in that "island hopping"? There is no fun in that statement. He is a public official. He should have shown more sensitivity and more maturity. The results of this "island hopping" is definitely not something to laugh about.

    1. Check the post, it was on Nov 8. He was not alluding to the result of the typhoon, he was describing how it was moving from one place to another. When did the news of the dead bodies came up? Saturday, yesterday only, right?

  18. The lacks of good judgement of this person is appalling. So far, according to reports, more than 1200 people died. What is this man thinking about?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Totally uncalled for. Ugh. Distasteful. When will you ever learn, Gov?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Looks like Filipinos don't know how to appreciate gallows humor.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow! Governor talaga siya? Buti pa mga officials namin dito hindi nagbibiro nang ganyan especially in times of calamities.

  23. taklesa talaga ang lola. pero in fairness to him/her, his disaster management skills are second to none. world class.

    1. I totally agree with you. He's really prepared his area for the worse (storms, volcano eruption). He's got everybody mobilized to a T.

      BTW, I'm a Bicolano. :)

  24. If he was making this comment in private to friends, then I would understand. But using an official page is inappropriate especially for a public official of his standing. I completely agree that he is very good with disaster management so I am disappointed with his insensitivity considering the plight of our fellow Filipinos in the Visayas area. Shame on you!

  25. Even if he was being sarcastic, it was STILL in bad taste.
    Insensitive.
