Overall -- Crisp. Modern. Simple. However, forgettable. Sayang yung rain, she could have danced in it at the latter part to intensify the emotion of the song and add drama to the dance steps in slow motion. Also, when I first heard the song, which is one of my OPM songs, I imagine her riding a huge circle (for the lack of word) la-Cirque just turning at the chorus. just my 2 cents. Happy Sunday!

I like the video. was an attempt to divert from her usual MVs. I agree with what others said here that Sarah doesn't seem to have her own "sound"... but I think that makes her different because she can change her voice depending on the song genre. When you listen to her album it's like listening to different singers. My only suggestion, I hope she can have a concert where she would just sing her own songs. She released several albums already and there were really good songs there which unfortunately was never played over the radio. WHy not a "Just Me" concert Sarah?

No offense Sarah Fantards, but I think she's too overrated. Her voice is too common and she's trying hard to 'copy' other singers' voices (Celine Dion, to name one) and her vocal technique damaged her voice. If you listen to her voice when she was just new to the show business and compare it to her voice now, you'll notice that her vocal range and quality deteriorated. And I don't even get it why other people idolize her singing. I've heard better singers (Jonalyn Viray, Rachelle Ann Go) but they're nearly not as famous as her. What's happening to the Philippine music scene?
please...at least she's doing ORIGINAL songs. unlike 90% of the artists in the Philippines, all they do are covers. paulit-ulit lang ang mga kinakanta nila. really, how many more versions of "bakit ngayon ka lang" and "ako'y sa iyo, ika'y akin" do we really need? maybe she sounsd like other artists, but at least she's trying to be herself. she may sound like them because she is influenced by them.
i appluad her effort and i applaud her for doing original material. i wish more filipinos would do original songs. maybe then i would be more proud of our country's music scene. OPM is dying, but at least people like Ms. Geronimo are trying to keep it alive.
They do other covers because they have no source of funding etc. Which brings us to the first point, which is she is overrated. If other singers who have unique qualities do ORIGINAL songs (which they don't because of lack of resources), it would be better. Of course it's good that she does her own original songs. But she lacks 'originality' if you know what I mean..

ReplyDeleteOverall -- Crisp. Modern. Simple. However, forgettable. Sayang yung rain, she could have danced in it at the latter part to intensify the emotion of the song and add drama to the dance steps in slow motion. Also, when I first heard the song, which is one of my OPM songs, I imagine her riding a huge circle (for the lack of word) la-Cirque just turning at the chorus. just my 2 cents. Happy Sunday!

ReplyDeleteFeeling ko nawawala na yung identity nya. Wala na yung sarili nyang style. Nalilito at nahihilo na sya tulsd ng kanta nya umiikot ikot na rin pati style nya sa pagkanta. Di na nya alAM KUNG mag jjlo, rihanna or beyonce cya. Either one of those di rin bumagay sa kanya. Reinvention is good but not when you are just merely a copycat and a second rate at that...yun lang.

ReplyDeleteI like the video. was an attempt to divert from her usual MVs. I agree with what others said here that Sarah doesn't seem to have her own "sound"... but I think that makes her different because she can change her voice depending on the song genre. When you listen to her album it's like listening to different singers. My only suggestion, I hope she can have a concert where she would just sing her own songs. She released several albums already and there were really good songs there which unfortunately was never played over the radio. WHy not a "Just Me" concert Sarah?

ReplyDeleteNo offense Sarah Fantards, but I think she's too overrated. Her voice is too common and she's trying hard to 'copy' other singers' voices (Celine Dion, to name one) and her vocal technique damaged her voice. If you listen to her voice when she was just new to the show business and compare it to her voice now, you'll notice that her vocal range and quality deteriorated. And I don't even get it why other people idolize her singing. I've heard better singers (Jonalyn Viray, Rachelle Ann Go) but they're nearly not as famous as her. What's happening to the Philippine music scene?
ReplyDeleteplease...at least she's doing ORIGINAL songs. unlike 90% of the artists in the Philippines, all they do are covers. paulit-ulit lang ang mga kinakanta nila. really, how many more versions of "bakit ngayon ka lang" and "ako'y sa iyo, ika'y akin" do we really need? maybe she sounsd like other artists, but at least she's trying to be herself. she may sound like them because she is influenced by them.

Deleteplus, si sarah kaya ang sumikat sa puro cover. heck most of her performances are covers. this is one of the rare originals of sarah.
They do other covers because they have no source of funding etc. Which brings us to the first point, which is she is overrated. If other singers who have unique qualities do ORIGINAL songs (which they don't because of lack of resources), it would be better. Of course it's good that she does her own original songs. But she lacks 'originality' if you know what I mean..
