Kinda agree with you. Naging cast sya sa isa sa pinakafamous na musical(naging bida pa). Bago isalang sa musical, dumaan sya sa pinakamatinding vocal training. Alam nya kung ano ginagawa nya dahil naranasan na nya. At siguro naman nakapagtake sya ng vocal pedagogy.

Lea has a different approach sa coaching. She's not into biritan. There are others na pag bumirit lang ang singer, magaling na. I was able to watch this episode and as a regular tv viewer, nairita ako sa pagkanta ng girl. Parang it's always growling. Puro growling voice almost the whole time she was singing. I like the Rainier among the three.
Just because it's a "protest" song doesn't mean it should be sung in the same way that you would shout "makibaka." A lot of protest songs should be sung in a more gentle fashion, and this is one of them. It's a PLEA more than a BATTLECRY.

Buti na lang I wasn't able to watch & follow The Voice PHL. It seems that a lot of rumors are going around. I don't think the Filipino audience & televiewers are ready for that kind of reality singing contest. The viewers have their own 'favorites' & if the judge doesn't agree with their favorite, online chaos happens in a click. The viewers have to be mature enough to accept defeat. The Voice US is totally different. Walang personalan.
That just happened because Juvie and Rainier were oversinging, kinda showing off, nagsasapawan. And we know Lea doesn't like that. I saw the disappointment in her face the moment they finished the song.
And for me, RJ was clear and consistent all throughout the song. I never felt him disappearing. Juvie was superb vocally, Rainier performed really well, but it was only RJ who delivered. Sadly, for Juvie fans.

Really, people complaining should first search the lyrics and understand the meaning of the song before they say anything. Juvie and Rainier were so carried away they forgot what the song was all about, what it wants to impart. Truly, a great singer or artist is someone who puts the song above everything else, most especially himself/herself. I believe Lea and Gerard made the right call on this one

lea said it best..they're not asking for an agreement but an understanding of where they are coming from..juvie over sang plain and simple, she was too pre-occupied at winning the battle, she can do so naman w/o going over board, if i were to guess whats on their mind is that they choose rj not because he did better but because rainer and juvie over did it, si rainer may pasayaw sayaw pa kaloka!! so kinda like choosing the lesser evil kaya they choose rj na lang..well lea is lea in spite of reputation and accolades she is not always right..no one is for that matter..but her credit at least she made her decision based on the performance and not on ehemm "potential" and ehem "story to tell" hehe lols.

Try listening to the original song by Marvin Gaye and you'll understand why the Salonga's chose RJ over Juvie. Juvie came on too strong sa first line palang while RJ was just nice and cool - which is how it should be.
to become the winner of "the voice", one must have full control over one's voice....you should know when to use more energy, or to re-adjust your vocal power to match the song...i agree with lea on this one...the problem with the other 2 who were eliminated is that they were oversinging...a good artist should be able to connect with the audience through the song...i found that juvie and ranier sang to impress (to the point that sometimes they don't hit the notes anymore) while rj sang with "soul"-so i felt his emotions...remember, singing is about interpreting the song...you can't sing about being in love while sounding angry; you can't sing about peace while sounding condescending, and the list goes on...
Thank you for making really really good sense. I agree with all that you said. People should really listen to Marvin Gaye's original first before opening their mouths, then they might understand.

The problem starts with Lea's song choices. Hindi bagay sa boses ng mga singers nya. Juvie would have gone a long way kung hindi nya sinama sa 2 guys and binigyan nya ng song na babagay sa range ng boses.
Ako lang ba nairita sa agsayaw sayaw ni rainier? Seriously, though, lea's decision is the lesser of 3 evils. Parang alang choice. She can't help those who do not want to help themselves. She made the right call on this one. And i like what she said that these guys start with 0 during the battles. Choosing the winning artist during battles should be like that. You do not go to the battle rounds with prejudice. Kasi oag meron, might as well declare the winner and forego the battle altogether.
Oh please, Lea is a judge because she knows what she is doing. You will only have a say if you are the one sitting on her chair. No right to question her.

I guess it's ok to growl once or twice in the song. But to sing growl almost the whole time.. c'mon!

Deletesince binanggit mo si Sarah, i think ahe's doing a great job in The Voice PH...duda din ako sa kanya nung una pero look at the song choices, macha-challenge talaga ang kahit sinong artist (Baliw, Bohemian Rhapsody, I just can't stop loving you...) at ang mga song choices nya, hindi yung bagay lang sa isang artist, bagay sa parehong artist na maglalaban...and i think she's been making really good decisions here....

Kaumay na ang mga ganyang argumento. "Then the show should be THE______, not The Voice". Ano ba wag nyo naman i-take literally ang title. After all, singing competition padin ito at may coaches invovlved na nasa kamay nila ang decision. Hndi natin dapat kwestyunin ang choices nila kahit hindi pa iyon tigma sa mga mithiin natin. Please lang, walang concrete criteria ang mga shows na ganito kaya wag kayong magreklamo. Kung naiinis kayo, edi sa amateur singing contest nalang kayo manood sa barangay.

ReplyDeleteTry listening to the original song by Marvin Gaye and you'll understand why the Salonga's chose RJ over Juvie. Juvie came on too strong sa first line palang while RJ was just nice and cool - which is how it should be.

ReplyDeleteto become the winner of "the voice", one must have full control over one's voice....you should know when to use more energy, or to re-adjust your vocal power to match the song...i agree with lea on this one...the problem with the other 2 who were eliminated is that they were oversinging...a good artist should be able to connect with the audience through the song...i found that juvie and ranier sang to impress (to the point that sometimes they don't hit the notes anymore) while rj sang with "soul"-so i felt his emotions...remember, singing is about interpreting the song...you can't sing about being in love while sounding angry; you can't sing about peace while sounding condescending, and the list goes on...

ReplyDeleteThe problem starts with Lea's song choices. Hindi bagay sa boses ng mga singers nya. Juvie would have gone a long way kung hindi nya sinama sa 2 guys and binigyan nya ng song na babagay sa range ng boses.

She made the right call on this one. And i like what she said that these guys start with 0 during the battles. Choosing the winning artist during battles should be like that. You do not go to the battle rounds with prejudice. Kasi oag meron, might as well declare the winner and forego the battle altogether.
