Yes Virginia, because restricting the free flow of a ideas and opinions and free speech that is supposedly guaranteed and provided for by the country's democratic system to its citizens is such a trivial matter to even warrant attention, much less discussion.
Before anything else, sana wifi will be FREE and available for metro manila unlimitedly. Tama na ang greed ibalik naman ang good service for all telecom subscribers. In other countries free naman tlaga lang ang wifi zones.
ate. 3rd world tayo. wag mo icompare sa ibang bansa. lahat may bayad na ngayon. before anything else, mas marami pang mas importante kesa sa free wifi zones mo!
Nope, in Europe hindi libre ang wi-fi. Magugulat ka kc mas mayaman sila kesa atin, sadly you pay for connection.
There's nothing wrong with free wifi zones. The problem is there are a ton of more important things that the government should deal with than making sure everyone gets to check their facebook. Try informal settlers, healthcare, education, infrastructure.. and the list goes on. If you can afford to buy a wifi-capable gadget, you should be able to pay for your connectivity.
Naghihiganti si nancy! LOL. Freedom of speech dpat mapa social media pa yan karapatan ntin yan.
I'll go for MDS on any given day! Nancy Binay? You've got to be kidding me! I guess this is her way of getting back to those who "bullied" her online during the campaign season.
That is the most absurd reason why you are going to allow your government to regulate social media... Impact on the youth? That is their parent's job to guide their children through the internet.. Have they heard of such a thing as the parental control setting on their computer? They don't know about it? Then they shouldn't be allowing their kids to use the internet unsupervised.
The social media when you filter out all the crap that the unsupervised tweens publish, is mostly beneficial. TRUTH: SOCIAL MEDIA FREED A NATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
So you are just going to compromise the rights of many people for the few over-sharing, bashing, and trolling tweens..
Regulate social media?
I would have sided with Nancy on the regulation of social media if not for the fact that she is doing this for herself and not really for the Filipinos. If this is true, she better be prepared to be bashed some more. However if she will be bashed, she might use it as a support to the bill that will regulate social media.
miriam...you can't really regulate social media...it's the only way people can express their opinions without fear of persecution...why not focus the govt's energy on creating more jobs and improving the educational system? now that's worth talking about...if you really know yourself and you're firm in your beliefs, the bashers won't matter to you...because you know who you are..."in one ear, out the other"....
@anonymous 12.43 I think you must've misunderstood. Miriam on one hand wants to protect our right to internet use and to be able to express our opinion freely. While on the other hand, Binay wants to curtail this freedom.
salamat s TFC at may ANC, i can watch the debate!!! Sen. Defensor brings the house down! we can learn highfalutin' words and be more interested with laws being passed because of her..
Wala syang kinalaman at all sa curtailment of our freedom of expression? Push mo yan, teh.
You missed my point. Gawing kong madali para maintindihan mo ha? Ganito kasi yon... yung Boat is sinking. Tapos ang pinoproblema mo eh yung peeling paint nung boat. Ano ang gusto mong unahin gawin? Save the sinking ship or keep the paint looking good?
Honey?? Look around you. Ang POINT ko is to make the country better first kesa deal with a minor problem.
Marx's theories about society, economics and politics—collectively known as Marxism—hold that human societies progress through class struggle: a conflict between an ownership class that controls production and a proletariat that provides the labour for production. He called capitalism the "dictatorship of the bourgeoisie," believing it to be run by the wealthy classes for their own benefit; and he predicted that, like previous socioeconomic systems, capitalism produced internal tensions which would lead to its self-destruction and replacement by a new system: socialism. He argued that under socialism society would be governed by the working class in what he called the "dictatorship of the proletariat", the "workers' state" or "workers' democracy".[8][9] He believed that socialism would eventually give rise to a stateless, classless society called communism. Along with believing in the inevitability of socialism and communism, Marx actively fought for the former's implementation, arguing that social theorists and underprivileged people alike should carry out organised revolutionary action to topple capitalism and bring about socio-economic change.[10]
"Along with believing in the inevitability of socialism and communism, Marx actively fought for the former's implementation, arguing that social theorists and underprivileged people alike should carry out organised revolutionary action to topple capitalism and bring about socio-economic change". Ok, I GOT YOUR POINT pero and POINT ko, there are more pressing problems than social media. Do you think yung mga nagugutom sa street cares about social media?
Couldnt bear to call binay senator.
I guess because of the blooming of social media nowadays it has to be regulated. Many peaple spend most of their time here and it is a big deal. It can be used for illegalities.
Finally read Binay's bill. Okay naman its about electronic violence against women. Parang lumaki ang scope ng VAWC, pang online version ng existing VAWC law. mIt seems good for women
I'm for safeguarding internet freedom. What we need is extensive education on internet etiquette, specifically on the proper use of social media. This is something the education department and schools can work on their own. The current RPC and civil code can be updated - they need to be updated as it is anyway so that crimes and civil cases that may stem from abusing social media are properly updated. We don't need another separate law per se - we have too many laws. What we have always needed is political will. That said, Manila Water and Maynilad have to be crucified for over charging consumers. Shouldn't these 2 focus on this issue more as of this time? Water is a public utility. Threats on regulating social media can easily be sensationalized but the water utility issue is more pressing.
Nancy can very well relate to cyber bullying which is probably why she is making this bill. But isnt she "OLD" and "MATURE" enough to handle such things? Grow up.
Even though she has been appointed to the International Court, she has requested to be the last of the six newly elected judges to take her post to allow her more time to fulfill her responsibilities as a senator.
kailangan pa bang itanong yan? Sen. Santiago cyempre. Sen. Binay may hire the best lawyers in her payroll pero pagdating sa pagpasa ng batas dadaan pa yan sa pagdebate and im sure sa debate pa lang talbog na.hahahaha
as if papayag si Nancy sa Debate. hello meron siyang temporary protection order against any discussion (debate) which is not temporary but lifetome order na! haahhaha
Miriam for the win! Joking aside, let these two take the floor why their agenda/proposals should be supported. I'd be very, very interested to see how Nancy will fare with Miriam there to throttle her, lol.
The law and jurisprudence define what is considered as bashing.
I'll go for Miriam for this Issue. Why regulate Social media? This is a Free Country. I agree with Gee, it's the parents who are responsible to guide their children. At tayo naman, we really have to be mature. Hindi porket we can use Anon, we have the right to bash people. Kaya those who are bashing some celebrities, mahiya nga kayo. They do have feelings; tao lang rin sila. If you're brave enough, then don't hide behind your computer. Stop using Anon and show yourself. At bakit napasok ang WiFi dito? For Tourists?

ReplyDeleteI think more concern with the youth. A lot pf youths nowadays are victims of cyber bullying. Somehow, related to her bill.
DeleteGo Miriam... Although I though she will be working for United Nations na. What happened to that?
ReplyDeleteEven though she has been appointed to the International Court, she has requested to be the last of the six newly elected judges to take her post to allow her more time to fulfill her responsibilities as a senator.
DeleteSimulan na ang debate!
ReplyDeletekailangan pa bang itanong yan? Sen. Santiago cyempre. Sen. Binay may hire the best lawyers in her payroll pero pagdating sa pagpasa ng batas dadaan pa yan sa pagdebate and im sure sa debate pa lang talbog na.hahahaha
ReplyDeleteGosh kelan debate masaya toh hahaha
ReplyDeleteIf you were not a victim of social media bullying, you won't understand Nancy's part. Even minors are victims of this social media bullying.
ReplyDeleteAnd i will let this develop into a full time romance.. lolz
ReplyDeleteAtsaka, will be waiting for the memes to come~ nyahahaha
-budang
as if papayag si Nancy sa Debate. hello meron siyang temporary protection order against any discussion (debate) which is not temporary but lifetome order na! haahhaha
ReplyDeleteKelan ba yang debate na yan at mapanood nga
ReplyDeleteMiriam for the win! Joking aside, let these two take the floor why their agenda/proposals should be supported. I'd be very, very interested to see how Nancy will fare with Miriam there to throttle her, lol.
ReplyDeleteMiriam Defensor Santiago my idol! People should follow her footsteps... if they wanna make sabak in the pulitika!
ReplyDelete..still a regulation of the freedom of speech...sino ba ang may karapatan tumuloy na ang isang post ay bash or katotohanan?...id say no to binays bill
The law and jurisprudence define what is considered as bashing.
Delete12:05 true!!!
DeleteMIriam all the way.
ReplyDeleteI'll go for Miriam for this Issue.
ReplyDeleteAt bakit napasok ang WiFi dito? For Tourists?
Hahahaha
