I just want to let you know about this deceiving practice at a Fashion and Design School FS. The head of FS, who is a professional designer, had been doing this for a long time now. If you happen to call FS to inquire about their teaching staff, be prepared to be shocked by the names that you will hear – they are mostly beginners. The faculty is composed of their students who have just recently graduated in 2010 to 2012 with no proper training at all. At FS, there are only two names who are at most, familiar.
We all know how expensive it is to be educated in a fashion design school. The tuition and the materials alone will cost you an arm and a leg. Isn’t it but right that the school be armed with teachers with relevant skills and competency, along with pertinent experience to speak of – and not fresh graduates whose only qualification is their knowledge lifted from their textbooks? The backbone of any school rests in the quality of its teaching force which is the benchmark how your school will be judged.
This is very alarming.
And may I add that the teaching staff who handles the graduating students in creating their respective collections, to my knowledge is someone who only had done one collection showcase to his name – and that was his graduation collection in 2011! What right and credentials does he have to teach?
FP, I hope that your blog can help address this. I absolutely detest this system - this malpractice. FS had graduated not a few designers who are now well-known and respected in the industry, both local and international. It makes me cringe at the possibility of FS graduating lemons if this present system is not properly and seriously addressed – and in the process, damaging the good reputation of the school.
Thank you very much, Fashion PULIS.
From a Concerned FS Alumna

ReplyDeleteDear Letter sender,
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to go to this school if the instructors are "alarming". If you can afford a better school than this then attend that one.
I don't understand the point in this type of letter. Why would someone complain about a school's instructors?
Sus!
DeleteOr di mo alam meaning ng alumna? Sus!
eventhough the letter sender can afford it's a good thing to bring this issue up so the people who can't afford a much expensive school can still benefit after enrolling in this SF school
Deleteyeah, alumna nga sya. but wouldn't she have figured out from the roster of teachers na avarage quality un? d kelangan grumadweyt from there to see that the teachers are so young and unknowns
Deletesaan to? comment naman ng clue
ReplyDeleteUpuan ba ito sa bahay?
ReplyDeletekorak! a niece of mine is a recent grad and she's not so happy with the "education" she got.
DeleteImposibleng upuan to sponsor nila yun. isip isip
Based on her story modt likely during their time hindi pa ganyan system.

ReplyDeleteAwareness check. Report to a blogger check. But it would be IDEAL if you report this alarming practice to proper authorities & agencies.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteREPORT THIS TO CHED NOW.
DeleteSALA
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the motivation of this letter sender. It looks like a smear campaign more than a letter of concern. To lambast the quality and credibility of the school because, the teachers are newly grads seem unfair and tad bit pretentious. Moreover, it is a free country. People are free to choose the school they want to get their education from. If they want this school despite its shortcomings (not proven by the way) then so be it. Letter sender, are you a disgruntled ex employee, pissed off student or a stiff competitor?
ReplyDeleteAlumna nga di ba ang kulit!!!
DeleteAlumna siya 'te.
Deleteif concerned alumna talaga yung letter sender, why not offer to teach in the school herself? or why not campaign to fellow alumni na successful na sa field to teach in the school? problem is, ang hilig magreklamo pero wala naman solution na inooffer. plus, kung magaling naman yung mga young alumni na kinuha as faculty, then why not support them and the school? check niya muna yung kakayahan ng current faculty and quality of the students being produced by them before questioning the credibility of the school just because they hired non-famous and young instructors.
ReplyDeletecorrect! i totally agree!
Bow.
ReplyDeletelike!!! hong arte lang kasi nung iba e. reklamador much.
DeleteI disagree. In a glance, learned designer can tell from a bunch of designs which were made by schooled and unschooled designers.
DeleteI am from that schoo, studied there a couple of years ago, and this letter sender is obviously very bitter of whats going on with the new faculty. I revisited the school and saw a better improvement on students having their own aesthetic. It's actually way better than the "known" designers they had before, they were lax and all chit chat but no help to students compared to the new ones. Im guessing the sender/s was/were teaching there a few years back. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is plain insecurity and just trying to put down a competing school, which is obviously getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteThe letter sender is probably the designer who got served here a few weeks back! they're so bitter about how the school went so well without them! lol
ReplyDeleteIkaw si 12:57 no? :)
DeleteWhat the ****! Letter sender, how dare you belittle the instructors in that school! Longevity does not prove one's creativity and skills! There are talented newbies who are also equipped and fit for the position! As long as one has passion and dedication to fashion, then I strongly believe he is capable of becoming an instructor in that school!
ReplyDeleteeto ba yung fashion school na may gagraduate na students? I happen to know one of the photog kasi.. kung eto yun:)
ReplyDeleteHave you tried speaking with the HR Manager of the school? The new teachers must be good enough to get hired. Siguro naman the students of this school has inquired about the competency of its faculty before enrolling; I don't think they would let themselves be led into a slaughterhouse. Pati may estudyante bang nagre-reklamo about the faculty? Namamalo ba? Pinipilit bumili ng tocino ang mga estudyante? Hahaha.
ReplyDeletetocino for the win
Deletethat is why the word "choice" is invented....you have the freedom to choose kung anong school ang pupuntahan mo...
ReplyDeleteIs this the new school?
