Vice Ganda during his I-Vice Ganda Moko sa concert Araneta on May 17, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tried too much to entertain his audience at the expense of Ms. Jessica Soho by making fun of her person bordering on uncalled for and tasteless jokes that were not meant to be uttered in public in general, and to Ms. Soho in particular.
Jessica Soho is a multi-awarded broadcast journalist, an industry veteran who has worked for GMA network for the last three decades. She received a George Foster Peabody Award and was the first Filipino to win the British Fleet Journalism Award in 1998.[ Ms. Soho’s excellent body of work and the causes she has championed have earned her the respect of colleagues here and abroad.
Sources said that GMA’s plan to file charges versus Vice Ganda was set many days ago yet. But it was thwarted when a close and powerful friend of Vice tried to intervene and appeased the other party. But when the video went viral, GMA had no recourse but to continue with the charges in order to protect the interest and reputation of Ms. Jessica Soho, its valued talent and currently its Vice-President for News and Public Affairs.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the topic was pertaining to "BOLDSTARS". Hypothetical situations were given as examples. Hence the "what if's, ano kaya kung's, etc.". Consequently, BOLD MOVIES also have RAPE SCENES. The mere mention of RAPE was only incidental to the topic.
IT WAS NOT A RAPE JOKE PER SE, it was a mere mention of a RAPE SCENE in BOLD MOVIE.
Arnold Clavio and GMA reporters are so onion skinned. However, Vice Ganda should also be more responsible in his choice of jokes. Not everyone is "game" enough to have a good laugh.

It just so happened that Jessica Soho was the only Kapuso celebrity mentioned. This has been Vice's brand of comedy since from the start. If you can't handle intelligently vulgar jokes, you should just stick to slapstick comedy. Vice is an intelligent comedian. Tularan mo sila Allan K, Jose Manalo at Wally mga komedyante sila pero ginagawa nilang katatawan ang mga sarili nila at hindi sila nanlalait ng ibang tao para kumita. Ikaw Vice marami ka ng nilalait na ibang tao mag lie low ka naman kahit isang araw lang. Kumikita ka nga lang sa panlalait sa ibang tao. ikaw lang nakikinabang pero sinasaktan mo naman damdamin ng ibang tao. Hindi lahat ng tao pwede mong babuyin at ipahiya. Vice wasn't suggesting that Jessica Soho be raped. Ang context eh kung mag-bobold star si Jessica (on TV/movies), gang rape ang possible scenario. Some people are overreacting. :P
I think kaya umaalma yung iba kasi it seems as though Vice was making fun of "rape" as a real-life phenomenon. They're taking it out of context. The point of the joke was to make ridicule of Jessica Soho's physical appearance (na ginagawa rin naman ni Vice sa iba), not to make fun of rape or rape victims.
Parang ewan din naman yung sinabi ni Arnold Clavio na bakit daw GMA personality pa yung jinoke ni Vice at hindi taga-ABS. lol. So ngayon na nag-joke si Vice about Gus Abelgas, Kim Atienza, Boy Abunda, ibig-sabihin ok na?
Besides, what's new? Ganyan naman talaga ang style ng pagpapatawa sa mga comedy bars. Why single out Vice? Wag kayong mag-expect ng "clean jokes" from comedy bars. It just so happens na dinala ni Vice yung ganung style ng pagpapatawa on TV.

Well of course as a respected news anchor and a public servant, she should be respected. Hindi sya katulad ni vice ganda na ang trabaho lang ay manlait ng iba para makapagpatawa sa entablado. As a proffessional comedian, you should be aware of that. But because of what he did? Isa lang yan sa patunay na pabulok na ng pabulok ang comedy industry.

On the other hand, it should not be an excuse din naman to show utter disrespect for another person. What Vice Ganda should have done at least since hindi naman basta-basta yung binabastos niya, he could have said katuwaan lang po, no disrespect for Ms. Jessica Soho...unless of course, wala talaga siyang respeto.

ReplyDeleteThe context is about "BOLD STARS". Ang sinasabi ni Vice "What if maging bold star si Jessica Soho? Gang rape palagi (ang scenes)." He's not referring sa pangrrape in real life. Dahil nga sa bold movies natin dito sa Pinas eh lagi naman talagang may rape scenes. Sana di siya na take out of context. However, Vice Ganda should be more responsible sa jokes niya since hindi lahat nakakaride, hindi lahat nakakaintindi, at hindi lahat ready sa ganyang jokes.

Kahit si Krizzy_kalerwqui idol nya si Jessica at never nya nilait. But what vice did is offensive and below the belt. Buti narin sa kanya yan. I hope vice will learn a lesson from this na dapat maghinay2x cya sa mga jokes nya. Kasi nakakasakit na cya nga tao.
