  1. I agree, we paid to hear their real voice not being auto tuned.

  2. In other countries, lip synching is a big deal. It should be. These singers are being paid a hefty amount of money for their audience to hear their voice.

    ReplyDelete
  3. if i remember correctly, nag-lipsync na rin si lea during the opening ceremonies of Asian Games in Doha...check nio yun.

      Big fan

For sure d sya maglip synch if di inutos yun

  4. very true! why discount the audience if these singers get paid a large amount?

    1. jusko dong, si lea pa ang insecure. know her resume and you would know she's not a bit insecure. kanino sya ma-insecure sa mga piling singers ng pilipinas. haller!

      Delete
    2. she's not insecure. lea knows her place in the industry and i dont think madaling sundan ang yapak ni lea. bilang singer, it is unfair for other singers not to perform live, but lip-synch instead.

      Delete
    3. she has nothing to be insecure about. she can sing the phonebook with perfect pitch.

      Delete
    4. insecure agad? hindi nman starlet or rising star si lea to be insecure.

I think, lea is just trying to level up the standard of Filipino singers as she is known to be a perfectionist at work.

      Delete
    5. kung meron insecure yun yung mga nag lip sync. kase they know they suck and can't sing.

Lea is one of the greatest voice sa Pilipinas. insecure what? sit down kid.

Isip isip ka pagmay time. Kaloka

    1. Hahaha. Kaloka. Marian daw. Naalala ko tuloy yung number ni marian. Sori po. Nakakatawa kasi.

      Delete
    2. that's all B.S....all of the names above lip-synched! unless you are classically trained, operatic, theatre singer, or from serious choir group..then yes..most probably you don't lip synch..but all the rest does..in a point of view..if you're paying for a concert to see this person sing yes no lip synched should be done..but on TV?? I guess it's ok to have a couple who does because seriously.........Would you want to hear Marian, Kim, Maja, Echo, Xian, Enchong, etc etc..sing live??? OMG I'd rather poke my ear with a stick seriously!

      Delete
    3. Prove it. you only have a general, sweeping comment with no hard fact. You can't say Marian lip synced that PP performance with Glaiza.

      Delete
    4. Anon 5:51, Pink does not lip synch. She has always been very vocal against it.

      Delete
    5. I agree, Pink doesn't lip synch.

    5. Oo. Kasi she was talking about herself in that interview eh. Hahahaha. Hay naku.

      Delete
    7. Gurl, she was asked a question. She didn't say those things out of the blue. Epal? What for?

      Delete

      Delete
  10. i admire her for that. kung talagang singer ka at naniniwala ka sa kakayahan mo di mo na kelangan mag lip-sync

    ReplyDelete
  11. gaya ni daniel akala ko singer nung ngprod cla nung mothersday lyp synch n nga di p nia inayos..sinayang lng nia.dpt di nlng xa ngprod pa xa di nlng nahiya sa kasama nia non singer din.

If you're someone who trains hard to improve performance and maintain your voice, it is insulting.

    3. At anon 2:58 i agree

  13. Britney spears also lip synch.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, Britney Spears lip synch a lot at her concerts and she has to cause its her dance that sells. And Britney is pretty much not the same caliber as Cristina Aguilera and Beyonce who are true singers. Britney is more of a dancer.

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
  15. Fun interview. If Martin guests people like Lea, his show will last longer.

    1. You're correct, but the masa taste is entirely different. Look at the results of the recent election? Pinag-isipan man lang ba?

      Delete
    2. I agree. Really disheartening election results.

As to the subject of this article, I think singers should sing live during performances. Why do we watch concerts and musicals despite the hefty price and all? Because we want to experience the real thing. If singers will just lip-synch their songs we might as well just get their cds and listen to good recorded sound in the comfort of our home. And relatively at a much cheaper price.

      Delete
  16. I agree with Lea, ang totoong singer hindi dapat mag lip synch. On a totally unrelated note, I find Lea very arrogant..feeling high and mighty lagi.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes she is arrogant, even happy she is called a b--ch. One day, makakarma din yan.

      Delete

      Delete
    3. if giving honest opinion is being arrogant , then we all are guilty. remember how she defended Gay people? .

      Delete
    4. There's a big difference between giving an honest opinion and being arrogant. I totally agree with her. I have no respect for singers who lip sync and pls dont say 'singers from the us naglilipsync' oh pls... ndi totoong singers mga ganon. The real ones are aerosmith, beatles, queen, etc.

      Delete
    5. anon 3:50 she defended gay people? from whom? from Christine Babao? omg read those lines properly, that was purely done with a motive..to bash C.B. but it backfired...Lea as always couldn't let go of the fact that C.B. thumped her high-class *ss and graduated with higher honors...now back to lip-synching..yes she IS arrogant, borderlined b*tchy, she's actually proud of that..but you see..she's too high on her pedestal already..one of these days she will perform bad, her voice will 'crack' ...........that's only natural, all singers encounter that..look at Regine, she even said before her voice has never ever failed her..what happened in her anniv.concert?...........tsk Lea ..from time to time..exercise being a little humble about things and just say..no comment.

      Delete
    6. she is right...not arrogant.

      Delete

      Delete
    8. She's not arrogant. I remember when she said that the trouble with some Filipinos is that we undermine our achievements. Pag may nagsabing "Ang galing galing mo naman". We say "Hindi naman" or "Wala yun". Instead, we should say "Thank you", because for sure we have worked hard to achieve that.

      Delete
    9. 1:40, 2:18 and 3:50 jeje mentality

      Delete
    10. 5:59, while I like regine, there's just no comparison. Lea, from the time she became a singer, has always been professional. She always delivered. Remember that Listen by regine?
And what's with CB graduating with honors and lea didn't? Look at cb's statement on gays. Also, lea has always been liberal, not only abt gay people but also on RH bill and other pertinent issues.

      Delete
    11. anon 9:10 actually sayo ko nalaman word na "jeje duhh? what is that? isa ka sa mga yun ano? jejeclub

      Delete
    12. If totoo nga na arrogant siya, well, she has every right to be one. Having that vocal caliber of hers and her countless achievements, may karapatan naman talagang magmayabang at mag-rant. Baka gusto niya lang i-angat ang quality ng Philippine music scene and it seems na disappointed siya sa music industry natin ngayon.

      Delete
Pa duh duh ka pa jan whether you like it or not the word "jeje" is a part of an average filipino's vernacular. I know lots of educated and RICH (or both) people who use it. So wag kang mag feeling dahil hindi bagay

  19. Even if singers from the consistently United States Lip snyc, does it make it acceptable? I don't think so. If it's a one or three time occurrence, maybe it's acceptable as there may have been an unforeseen circumstance that required them to do that (sick, etc). BUT if it's consistent, meaning, it's every performance - - there's no excuse for it.

People don't like Lea for her honestly - - I admire her most for that. She's not filled with the same bullshit most people in Philippine showbiz is ridden with AND she has the talent, experience and credentials to back up her opinions with. And by talent, I don't mean fabricated and sugarcoated with good publicity - - SOLID TALENT.

      Delete
    4. Lea wasn't talking about Anne as Anne has acknowledged that she's not a singer and she's only doing it for fun.

      Delete
Maisabit lang no!?? Gosh

  24. Lea's back in Philippines because she does not that much gig in the U.S...that's a fact. Yes she is good, yes, she did bring home a lot of recognition to our country..but bottom line is she's here to work due to lack of work in U.S........but please Lea, you're always rubbing people the wrong way. I'm not saying sugar coat things but please when you say something stop looking like a smug bratty b*tch! It's irritating to watch. It gives you that air that you're so high and mighty but you're not. For once..please show us your craft more and stop bashing other people, that way we can appreciate you more rather than turn our eyebrows up on you and not patronize your shows. Bratty Lea.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Super agree! She has that smug look on her face, feeling superior nga talaga. But other than being a judge in that talent show, what other projects does she have?

      Delete
    2. What she said doesn't make her a brat. She's just stating her opinion because she was asked and because she is a repected singer. And fyi, she just finished a string of concerts here in the US not mentioning a recently concluded theatre show with George Takei in San Diego. Perhaps you're not a fan that's why you are not aware of her shows. I mean, do you even watch theatre shows? Jeje ka yata eh. Ha!

    4. Schedule lang ba hanap mo te? Visit her website, leasalonga.com/schedule, nakalagay po doon yung sched niya from May to early June. As we all know, June magsstart ang The Voice so that would take, what, three-four months? And oh yes, meron pa po siyang ginagawa na bagong musical, which is aiming to go on Broadway possibly later this year or next year (see Allegiance). So, yes, wala nga siyang gig ngayon. Happy now?

      Delete

      Delete
    6. I love Lea, I think she has one of the best voices in the world... pero nag-lipsynch siya at least *once* in her career. in the distant past, noong child star pa siya, kumunta siya ng 'sanrio song' at lip synch yun, but done very well. noong teen star siya, di ba nasa tv din siyang madalas (I think nasa that's entertainment pa nga siya noon) and she did the whole showbiz thing, lipsynch, teenstar patweetums, etc. there was a 'jeje' time in her life before the whole theater/tony award thing. kaya lang di siya click sa masa kasi parang elitist na ang dating niya noon pa lang eh.

      Delete
    7. Lea for me is a feisty person with class. Hope everyone does not think she's arrogant because those people without any class and breeding should be looked down at.

      Delete

    4. Actually, meron. She chooses her gigs well.

If your benchmark of a good career is dancing in silly noontime shows then maybe her career is not really flourishing.

But if you consider performing with world-famous orchestras, then yeah. sure.

  28. I think Leah is just pissed sa mga nagsusulputan na fake singers pinipilit na singer di makakanta ng maayos. Leah had made known the "Filipinos" as a world class talent becauseof her singing prowess tapos ngayon mga baguhan na singer at feeling singers binababoy ang songs nagiging kahihiyan ang Pilipinas.

Well, to be fair, even perfectly capable vocalists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and, yes, even the late, great Luciano Pavarotti (Google it) had at one point or another in their careers lipsynched their way through a song or two. Here's looking at you, Britney.)

  30. ms lea is arrogant and beechy yes but i agree with her.

One of the funniest and most honest conversations on a talkshow.

I hope you people get to watch this episode. I don't see any mapanlait/kayabangan on Lea, cocky and straightforward, yes. Showbiz people should be slapped on the face once in awhile to get back on the ground.

  46. Lea is lea. Also, listen to how she answered that RL-Anne question- balanced and fair. At least she doesn't pander to anyone. Whatever she said about lip synching, girls and gays, she's earned it.

She even wrote the article herself. "I sang at the Asian Games in December 2006; my prerecord was done the previous July. So yeah, I’ve done it, and there’s no doubt that I can carry a tune. For that event, I had to stand many, many feet above the ground on an elevated platform with a nice breeze blowing. I was terrified and extremely nervous; I was thankful that I was required to lip-synch. I also prerecorded “A Whole New World” with Brad Kane for the 65th Oscars in 1992. We were prepared to sing live. But during the rehearsal, the forklift that was supposed to raise our magic carpet was too loud. The noise bled into our body mics; we had no choice but to employ the recording."

    1. Even though. She still did it. She could've turned them down if she was being required to lip-sync. SHE STILL HAD A CHOICE. Specially yung sa Asian Games pwedeng-pwede nya tanggihan. Pero yung sa 'A Whole New World' mahirap i-turn down since she was the original singer of the female part.

  54. Lea Salonga for me, even though she's frank, outspoken and haughty for some people right here, I believe she's a feisty person with class.

  57. Damn it, hahaha, kakaasar ang mga tao. Why are you slamming down lea salonga - it's leah freaking salonga! - for stating an opinion? Wala ba siyang karapatan magsabi ng gusto niya? It's not arrogance at work with her, she's sincere, she's honest. she works unbelievably hard. her achievements have never been topped. she's entirely on a class of her own. please, before we assume something about someone, before we say something, let's really really think about it. because i hate the fact that someday, she might read this and feel even a smidgeon of hurt, feel even a tiny bit upset. nobody deserves to be talked about this way, talked badly about. why are you even wasting time saying something bad about someone you don't even know? if you've got nothing good to say, just don't say anything. di ba? iba yung level ng quality ng work ethic ni lea salonga. if you've seen all her shows, the sheer dedication and hard work she puts in, you'd see someone professional, who loves her job, who's
