DeleteEven sa AI noon this 1st runner-up and her mom ignored to specifically acknowledge na Pinoy siya, always vague ang sagot when asked about being Pinoy. Mga Pinoy sa Amerika lang naman ang claim ng claim sa kanya. At nung huli na lang sila nag acknowledge dahil obvious naman hindi siya magiging 1st runner-up kung hindi sa Pinoy community. Walang pinagkaiba kay Jasmine Trias yan na sinabi sa interview noong ongoing ang AI na "I am not Filipino" pero nung pumunta na dito for a concert "I love the Philippines and proud to be Filipino" na daw siya.

At in fairness kay Jessica Sanchez kahit laking US she admitted na nung bata pa lang sya kinakanta na nya ibang pinoy songs at isa na dun songs ni Sarah. So that means mulat sya sa opm music unlike sa mga kabataan laking pinas na hindi pa nakatungtong sa US pero kung umasta daig pa ang pure bred americans at puro mga foreign music lang pinakikinggan at nababaduyan sa opm music at artists. As long as proud si Jessica sa roots nya, she's cool with me.

i think you'll know what you really are when you ask someone their nationality and they say they're filipino or american. not both. i for one also don't consider jessica filipino. she's obviously american. she's of filipino descent but in heart and mind she's more american i'm guessing. i appreciate beauty in all cultures. i also find it sad that locals don't patronize our own more. and THIS primarily is why the Philppines will find it hard to be the great country it once was. in Korea, Japan, China, it's hard to find a foreigner who eclipses the local stars' popularity. in the Philppines, it's the complete opposite. BAYO's ads were controversial but sadly, reflect the general culture/thinking/mentality locally.
