Revised Rules and Guidelines

Dear FP Readers,

As everyone is already aware by now, the Philippine Cybercrime Law also known as Republic Act (RA) No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 takes effect today, October 3, 2012. In view of this, your favorite entertainment blog Fashion PULIS will have to be more strict in the enforcement of Rules and Guidelines to keep the blog free from unnecessary legal complications.

Here are the Revised Rules and Guidelines for posting comments. Please abide by these if you want your comments to be posted:

1. Avoid posting names and initials of persons in the BI (blind item). You may only post the first letter of the first name or the first letter of the last name, but NOT both.
2. Avoid descriptions, incidents, experiences, and stories that will lead the readers to one particular person or company.
3. Do not use profanity, obscenities, and abusive language. Comments should be targetted towards the BI (blind item) not the other commenters.
4. If a comment is a reply to other commenters' grammar which is minor and petty, such comment will not be published.
5. If a comment to a commenter borders on sarcasm and provoking verbal assault, such comment will not be published.
6. Comments should not harass, abuse, or threaten another person's safety.
7. Please be considerate and respectful of your fellow readers.

Please do not be too impatient when your comments are not immediately approved and posted. Keep in mind that we (I and my comments moderator) can not be online 24/7. Just like you, we have other concerns, too.

I hope you understand. I enjoy blogging and I hope you, too, will continue to have fun reading Fashion PULIS. Thank you very much for your love and support.

  10. I am in favor of the provisions on the online libel of the Anti-Cybercrime Law. But maybe they should de-criminalize it and just make it a civil case. Just like in other countries, if you where convicted of libel then you just pay a fine.

Kulang pa nga yung batas dapat sinama na pati cyber-bullying.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But sadly, it is not how it is in this country. Sa batas na ito, mas madali ng makukulong ang taong nag-like or nag-retweet ng mga post kesa sa mga tutoong criminal! Yeah man, it is that stupid!

      Delete
    2. That is an exaggeration, I really don't believe anybody can be that petty, that they would sue someone if they like or dislike whatever someone has posted on FB.

That is why our lawmakers should make amendments on the online libel provision.

But we should realize that freedom is not absolute.

  29. the Internet is a source of information. Use it wisely is the only thing that this law states. it has been abused and used as a method to put other people down. Martial law was hindi makatao, but if you people continue to bash and speak untruth about others, then you are also abusing. By the way, why are all of you so afraid of this law? If you say that what you are speaking is the truth, then why be afraid to speak out? the reason is that you are talking about false claims and lies, and there is no truth to it... Hence, all of you are so afraid of this law...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Excuse me, I don't think you have read the full content of the law. In layman's term, getting jailed for mere Liking and Retweeting a post will land you Faster in Jail than REAL Criminals who steal and kill.

      Delete
    2. I think we can sue you for saying that "we bash and speak untruth about others". That's defamatory and libelous to us. Hehehe. Seriously, the anti-cybercrime law in it's current form is truly infringing on the right to freely express oneself. How dare they limit my thinking and my freedom to use my own space in the cyberworld? Can't I even say or write now that I think ST* is a plagiarist? Or that I think G** is corrupt? I am not afraid of that law because I am a responsible internet user. But I am afraid that this also kills the freedom to criticize wrongful deeds just because the subject has the power and money to bring you to court. It will serve only the politicians and those who have money who can sue for claimed defamation just because they want to stop you regardless of the truth. Major revisions of this law should be made NOW.

      Delete
    3. it only proves that you have to be careful about your liking and retweeting. again, the basis of the law, let the truth speaks for itself... if you have proof, then speak out, if you don't then shut up... thats the problem with people, they use their freedom to abuse... when you speak about someone else, make sure you have proof to support that claim... it is as simple as that... sure, the politicians and the rich will certainly be the ones protected, and they will be against people who envy their position and their power...

      Delete
    4. @6:41 PM: Fyi, the truth cannot be used as defense in a libel case. Heck, you do not even have to have malicious, deliberate intent to be accused of libel, as your accuser could go after you for, and I quote, REAL or IMAGINED imputations by your comment/blog post/article. So that "let the truth speak for itself" statement of yours is meaningless in the face of libel. Slippery slope, yes?

  30. i love no.4! hahaha.
Infairness medyo challenging ang pagcocomment na. Kailangan na ng konting creativity tulad ng pagsusulat ng BI ni FP :) No offense pero may iba kasi na taklesa sa pagcocommment eh!

  35. After a tiring day, lagi ko tlaga hinihintay mga BI mo FP. At kapag nababasa ko mga comments patungkot sa BI or mas madalas patungkol sa sagot ng iba, sobrang natatawa talaga ako. Funny and frank, brutally frank comments, do really make my day.

Kalungkot naman kung wala na ng mga ganito FP.. :(

    ReplyDelete
  36. anong part ba ng cybercrime law ang gusto nyong tanggalin? ang oa naman ng mga tao d2. kung makareact parang end of the world na.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is reminiscent of banning Voltes V during Martial Law. Guess what? This act was never forgotten and never forgiven. At first blush it seems shallow, almost silly to be up in arms over something like Voltes V or in today's case the internet. But its chilling nonetheless because the government wishes to intrude and dictate on something as private and personal as use of the internet. Its funny because now we hear defensive comments from the senators - how they want to protect recent victims of scandals like the hidden cam one. Seriously when the actress found out her video went viral online, Libel ba ang gusto nya isampa sa may gawa? Flimsy excuse from a lawmakers who proved to not know better and are unworthy of their government salaries and pork barrels (yes even senators have pork barrels).

    ReplyDelete
  38. buti na lang hindi na i-ppublish ang mga grammar correction reply!!! sobrang nakakairita basahin!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Finally! Thank you FP. Initially, this will solicit negative feedback but definitely, this is a step that will improve also how commenters are posting and interacting here on your blog. Some are just so petty and below the belt, IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If only people knew how to respect others in using the Internet, there should have been no need to include libel in the Cyber Crime Law. Unfortunately, respect (like common sense) is not a commonly found characteristics in human being nowadays. We want Freedom but we didn't know what to do with it and how to use it properly. It is why stringent laws are needed to govern and reiterate that your freedom ends when it steps on another person's freedom.

  41. I like this FP sana matagal mo na tong ginawa. Magigin malinis na comment page mo. Mas masarap ng basahin. Wala ng trollers.

  42. Hi FP! I hope this Cybercrime Law won't deter you from dishing out juicy news, BIs etc. You're more than just a habit to millions of Pinoys here and abroad - gosh, I read you much more often than my own FB account!

This is not flattery but a simple truth that your blog is so refreshing and way much better than watching (the local news on) TV.

    We love yah!

    ReplyDelete
  43. thank you fp! ang dami na annoying and cheap na nagco-comment dito, it's time to put some order in this blog. pero pag nakakatawa yung comment, please publish pa din! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. 3. Do not use profanity, obscenities, and abusive language. Comments should be targetted towards the BI (blind item) not the other commenters.
    4. If a comment is a reply to other commenters' grammar which is minor and petty, such comment will not be published.
    5. If a comment to a commenter borders on sarcasm and provoking verbal assault, such comment will not be published.

i agree with all this. when FP started, the commenters were more decent & respectful of each other even if they disagreed with one another's opinions. nowadays a whole thread of comments may have no connection whatsoever to the BI anymore. that's why there is also confusion oftentimes as to what the commenter is commenting on! and now the comments can just be downright hurtful, disrespectful & condescending.
