Dear Miriam,
Congratulations on standing up for the truth given by God in the Bible! Literally interpreting the Bible is what we should really do. The word of God is the word of God. Those who believe in God shouldn't doubt the Bible: each word in the Bible, each punctuation mark, each syllable was written by the owner and creator of the universe, period. I love your zealous and unwavering faith that everything that the Bible says is true and that we should follow it.
I know that we should take the Bible as it is. There's no doubt that God forbids cross-dressing; Deuteronomy 22:5 says that. Leviticus 18:22 implies that homosexuality is an abomination to God's eyes as well. But I'm having some problems with other verses in the Bible. Please help me with what to do about them because, just like you, I want to live my life in accordance with the word of God.
1. According to Genesis, God only created men and women. Nothing else, no one in between. Just either men or women. Now, Genesis 1:5 says that God created only evening and morning. There was no mention about afternoon, dusk, dawn, midnight, the blue hour, etc. As a literal follower of the Bible, how should I regard these "other" parts of the day? To borrow your own words, are they the "lies of the devil?" Why do we have these abominations? Is God testing my faith?
2. I'm so confused about what to wear now, Miriam. I feel that I'm such an abomination in the eyes of God. You know why? Detueronomy 22:11. God clearly and literally forbids wearing clothing made of fabric that are combined together, such as wool and linen woven together. I have lots of clothes made of combined fabric. What should I do with them? Should I change my wardrobe and burn all these clothes, just like how God burned Sodom and Gomorrah? Miriam, please promise us, in the name of the Truth contained in the Bible, that you will never ever wear such clothes! Moreover, Deuteronomy 22:12 says that we should place tassels on the four corners of the cloaks we wear. Why didn't your evening gown during the Ms. Universe pageant in 1999 have any tassels? Was this a flaw in the design? Or was the gown designed by the devil? Oh my God, Miriam, please burn that gown now, as that is not something God wants you to wear! Save your soul, sister!
3. I'm so disturbed by how marriage laws in our country work, Miriam. Clearly, this country will rot in hell. Why? It is not following Deuteronomy 22:13-20. We should include virginity tests for women before they get married. And if it's proven that these women are not virgins, we should stone them to death just like how Deuteronomy 22:21 recommends! Miriam, please tell me you were a virgin when you married your husband!
4. I want to share the truth of the Bible to my neighbor, Miriam. Here's the case: The woman's husband died recently; and they have no children. Deuteronomy 25:5 clearly says that in situations like this, the woman is only allowed to marry her brother-in-law. They are not following this. Should I go to them and share to them this Universal Truth so that they can follow what the Lord wants?
5. Miriam, I wonder how we can implement Deuteronomy 25:13. It says that we shouldn't have two different weights in our bags. Can you share to me the weights of the contents of your bag?
6. Leviticus 1:14-17 says that the smell of burning dove and pigeon is an aroma pleasing to the Lord. I tried to burn doves and pigeons yesterday as part of my daily routine in pleasing God but my neighbor stopped me. He said this is cruelty to animals. Can you help me pray over my neighbor's soul so he can finally see the Truth?
7. I'm very troubled by the presence of Lydia's Lechon in our neighborhood. Leviticus 3:17 clearly says that we must not eat any fat. Can you support my petition against Lydia's Lechon?
8. Why do people go to dermatologists, Miriam? Isn't this a clear violation of the word of God? Leviticus 13:2 is clear: When it comes to skin disease we must go to a priest, not a dermatologist.
9. One of my neighbors is poor. I advised the father of the household to sell one of his daughters as a slave so they can have money. He told me that I was insane. I told them God clearly allows this in Exodus 21:7. How much do you think he should sell his daughter for?
10. Miriam, why do people work on the Sabbath day? Exodus 35:2 clearly forbids this. Should we start putting them to death as the Bible recommends?

11. A lot of Filipinas work as domestic helpers in other countries. Most of them are beaten by their employers. Should we condemn their employers or should we just allow them to be beaten up as long as they can get up after a day or two, as what Exodus 21:20-21 wants us to do? It does say, “If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property."
A friend of mine told me that these words should not be taken out of context. I told him, No! These words are the words of God and they apply in every context, at all times, everywhere and every time, as God's words are eternal. Deuteronomy 26:16 is clear about this: "The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul." When I told him about that, he told me that God is shit. Oh dear, that comment ended our friendship. And I'm now actually planning the time and place where our entire barangay can stone him to death as recommended by Leviticus 24:16. Would you like to join us in fulfilling what the Lord our God wants us to do? Where can I send the invitation?
I'm looking forward to hear from you.
Let's defend every word in the Bible!

Nice work: "adoptation"
ReplyDeleteYou nearly had me there.
melody nearly got away with this, sayang!
hahaha!
Deletenasa ending na, mali pa.
Deletefail talaga
DeleteTama naman po ang word na 'adaptation', it means kinopya or hinango sa kung saan. There's no such word as 'adoptation'.
DeleteIf you are referring to the use of "adaptation" that is correct. There is no such word as "adoptation" Check your dictionary. "adoptation" is a lie from the devil! Hahaha!
DeleteHahaha oo nga naman. There's no such thing as "adoptation." Baka adoption yan. The use of "adaptation" is correct.
Deleteikaw na ang critic. grammar nazi
DeleteNakakaawa ang nagsend ng letter na to! We got your point but to go as down as this that's so pathetic! Dont drag God and His Word para lang mamahiya ng isang tao!
ReplyDeleteE c god nga nagsbi nyan e. Read ur old n new testament

DeleteHow can you say this is an example of extremism?
fp old testament law ang isinulat mo eh binago na nga eh kaya nga me new and lord jesus said if you love me obey me..
DeleteIn other words, a copycat. I read about this on facebook yesterday and I almost gave the writer 5 stars but then again, as I read the comments below it, someone said something about a letter to Dr. Laura. I searched for it and upon reading, I was like "no thank you Melody!"
ReplyDeleteAs for Miriam, I think she's a hypocrite.

tama siya on what grounds? -- KP
,.tama agree ako
Deletei mean tama may point talaga si miriam
DeletePano naging tama yon? You're supposed to accept people and love them as they are.
DeleteApir, Samantha!
DeleteI'm sure bakla si Samantha
Deletefor me the word of god is the truth that people never considered anymore! lalo na kapag hindi mo tinataggap ang mali kasi pinipilit mo ung gusto mo kahit mali na. kaya para sakin tama si meriam.

ReplyDeleteDear Melody,
ReplyDeleteYou need to go to a priest and have a confession. You are deifinitely possessed! You define BLASPHEMY. You take every word in the Bible literally. I guess you never really studied when Figures of Speech was being taught in your class.
Hi miriam! Napadaan ka? Lol
DeleteAnd how else will you interpret those verses if not literally?!?! DUH
DeleteYou believe in the bible but dont wAnt it to be taken literally?!?
DeleteDiba dapat Dear Miriam?
DeleteCge nga explain m nga mga "figures of speech" mo dyan. Numero uno Palusot!
DeleteDear anonymous,
DeleteYou dont get it. You are the one who needs to study.
Love, anonymous
AnonymousMay 1, 2012 10:24 AM
DeleteAnd you obviously skipped all your English Grammar lessons.
I believe that this letter written by Melody was a form of sarcasm. Meaning, she's not taking the bible literally. She's kind of attacking Miriam.
DeleteSomeone needs to realize how sarcasm works. You obviously don't get it.
Delete,.para sa inyong kaalaman new testament lahat sinusunod natin ngayon
DeleteThe letter was meant to be sarcastic.
DeleteI think maraming kaklase dito si Dr. Sheldon Cooper. They don't understand the concept of sarcasm. :-D
DeleteAnonymousMay 1, 2012 02:53 PM, sorry pero hindi lahat sumusunod. May ibang nag-iisip.
DeleteGuys, nagtaka pa kayo eh MIRIAM nga ang name niya eh.. HAHAHA! NKKLK!
Deletenote: only wise people can understand this letter :-p
Deletehahahaha this is so funny !!!! Sarcasm at its finest !!!
ReplyDeletenot really
Deletenot at all
Deleteold testament laws are for the jews at that time...words of christ in new testament na ngayon...
ReplyDeleteCorrect!!
DeleteAh, so some parts of the bible we shouldn't follow? Is there a guide what parts are still valid today so I know? Or should I just choose the parts that I like? Baka naman luma na lahat?
Delete"Out with the old, in with the new." Ganun ba? Ang taray ng bible parang Magkaribal lang!
DeleteOld T or New T, doesn't take away that it was made/inspired (however you want to call it) by the Abrahamic god. A god who is omniscient and omnipresent. If you are trying to say that the New T was to supersede the Old T, you are also implying that your god somehow changed his mind because a new generation came in? And how about our generation? Upholding the New T because you only read those passages which sounds right. Don't cherry-pick what you read.
DeleteMoreover, in what context do you suggest it should be read?
@AnonymousMay 1, 2012 08:02 PM
DeleteThe debate on which testament to follow is immaterial.
You said it yourself, "Don't cherry-pick what you read."
That is the fundamental argument of the LGBT community. Either you follow the bible to the T or you agree that the Bible should not be taken literally. PERIOD.
agree to this one.. kaya nga may new testament para magkaroon ng mga new laws kasi may mga laws nun old na ndi na applicable ngayon.. kagaya nlng ng pagpatay ng tupa para linisin ng mga kasalanan natin.. ndi na ginagawa un ksi andyan na si Kristo na nagpapako sa krus para linisin mga kasalanan natin.. halatang andaming ndi tlga nagbabasa ng biblia at nakiki-oo nlng.
DeleteMiriam is entitled to her own opinion, she has the right to be conservative in her views. As we are all free to have our own personal opinions.
ReplyDeleteBUT SHE HAS NO RIGHT TO STICK HER BELIEFS DOWN OTHER PEOPLE'S THROATS. WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT TRUTHS. WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THAT YOUR TRUTH IS THE ONLY TRUTH AND THE ONLY WAY?SELF RIGHTEOUS HYPOCRITES.
Deletecheck korek! dapat open minded.
DeleteRight. However, her right or our right to an opinion is not contested here.
DeleteMelody, you should be stoned for extracting the words of God with Sarcasm. Why are you so hard on Miriam simply to defend LGBT. What you did is an insult to the LGBT Community for they are stronger and wiser to carry such kind of issue with dignity and without stepping other's credibilty abd beliefs.
ReplyDeleteoh my god! patawarin nawa kayo ng diyos sa mga ginagawa nyo. i condemn the person/people behind this..
ReplyDeleteCondemn? Is that one of your Christian Values?
Deletetoomoo!!! banal na aso, santong kabayo!!!
DeleteTotoo nmn e.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess a lot of FP fans didn't get the point of this letter. And I thought FP readers are really smart. So sad. :(
ReplyDeleteI cannot agree more dear Anonymous. It's obviously a form of sarcasm/insult to Miriam.
DeleteSiguro kung blind item to, baka nagets nila. LOL --KP
DeleteDefinitely. :(
DeleteKorek. Grabe, nagkalat ang mga idota.
Deletetrue. :(
DeleteIt is meant to be sarcastic nga. Pero dami di nakaintindi. Ano ba.
DeleteExactly what I was thinking! I'll stay here muna, too many extremist fools outside.
DeleteDamn right. This is how most of the religious people react when their faith is being challenged. They stop thinking and starts to defend their bible like they really read it. Thus, they fail to see that its just satire.
DeleteUntil they'll realize that, yeah, it's just mocking my belief, and that's when they continue doing what they do best...being blind defenders of their faith.
I feel sorry for the person who wrote this (Melody). Read the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelations, girl. The answers to all your questions can be found there as well. No place else and from nobodyelse. Have your mind opened and not this NARROW.
ReplyDeleteAy slow....
DeleteAlthough I feel sorry for Melody for trying hard to copy the letter to Dr. Laura.
,.tama ka sister
DeleteI agree with you.
DeleteSo have you read the Book from Genesis to Revelations? What is your take on it? C'mon OPENED my mind and enlighten us..
Delete@AnonymousMay 1, 2012 04:55 PM, no need na po to open.. "OPENED" na. :D
DeleteAnd I feel sorry for you! ever heard of satire, bro? lol. How about taking your own advice and read the book from Genesis to Rev., with your OPEN mind and in your faith's CONTEXT?! Now justify all the inconsistencies, immoralities, injustices, complicated plots, indecencies, etc. And yeah, you can see those from Genesis to Rev.
DeleteAll i have to say is sarcasm or not it is still not okay to use God's words to attack ppl. Gods words is for instuctions in how will live our life in s right way. Two important thing Jesus thought is love God above all n love your neighbor
Pak check correct true! each and everyone of us has his/her own opinions. I think we should just respect each others opinion, cliche it may be but we all know that ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE US.
Deletemost of my friends are gays, and it doesn't matter at all, what's important is your attitude and the pureness of your heart, c'mon, nobody's perfect but never forget that God gave us choices in which it is in us how we use our judgment, it all sums up to one thing, that no matter how imperfect we are, if your heart's desire is for the glory of God, as long as we don't step on others, God Loves You. God Forgives. and God's love is undying, neverending.
i don't have any problem with the 3rd sex, they are children of God too, and as long as they don't engage in those "forbidden" acts and as long as they are humble enough to acknowledge what they are according to our faith. and the fact of the matter is, homosexuality is a choice!
ReplyDeleteand you are? a saint? :)
DeleteHomosexuality is a choice? Like you chose to be straight? Get your "fact" straight.
DeleteYes you do have problem with what you call the 3rd sex. How dare you say that homosexuality is a choice. How dare you put condition on how we should behave so as to please you or be accepted by you. the LGBT community (yes be informed, be politically correct) does not need your acceptance but we need mutual respect for no one amongst us should dictate how we should live as long as we do no harm to our fellowmen.
Deletei disagree na "pinili" ng mga gays to be gays kasi talagang deep inside sya simulat simula pa.
DeletePero ang pagkakaiba lang naman talaga ng straight and gay is preference kung sino gusto mo makasama. Yun lang.
It is simple as ketchup/mustard thing. Some prefer mustard kasi ayaw nila talaga lasa ng ketchup and vise versa
Being gay does not make u a bad person per se. We sin when we do bad things to others straight or gay.
@AnonymousMay 1, 2012 11:08 AM
Delete"homosexuality is a choice!"
SAYS WHO?
-KP
Third sex? So man is the first sex, woman the second sex? Wow, so much for equality. And this is not about Miriam not supporting trans in Miss U. Try to read more before you comment para di halatang stupid.
DeleteReally funny! Hahaha. ON POINT. Sarcasm, people. Sarcasm!
ReplyDeleteIt's called irony. Look it up.
But still, I wish you all the best. May God always bless you and give you enough wisdom to understand what is wrong and right.
@AnonymousMay 1, 2012 11:24 AM
So the Bible should not be taken literally then, correct?
If so, Miriam was wrong when she said Homosexuality is the lie of the devil merely because the bible didn't say so.
And Homosexuality is not a sin because the archaic text from which the new translated versions of the bible did not say so.
--KP
Ok, for the benefit of everybody here, paki explain nga samin lahat ng verses na binanggit nya. If Miriam can take the words of bible literally, yung ibang tao hindi pwede?
DeleteSarcasm to the highest level!I feel sorry for you my dear
Kung maka-Diyos man kayo, then forgive.
ReplyDeletei just love the burning of the doves and lydia's lechon part.haha
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for a lot of people here who missed the SARCASM. It's so sad how some people who replied and attacked "Melody" when they can not even understand the point of the letter.
ReplyDeleteWould being devout mean you would have to be dim witted too?
And did you notice how they used the "God" card again? What is this? A question and answer portion in a beauty contest?
Hahahahahahahahahahahhahaha!!! Korek! Nagreact pero di nagets na the letter was meant to be sarcastic.
DeleteOops parang nataaman po kayo sa sinabi ni miriam at nagOver react na po kayo sa bible it does not mean kung ano nkasulat yun na ang susundin; more understanding pa po sa bible ng maintindihan nyo mabuti. OPINION lang po to salamat
ReplyDeleteWitty! I can't stop laughing! This blog deserves a standing ovation.
ReplyDeletepathetic person who wrote this!!! may the Lord, God Almighty save you from hell!
ReplyDeletekorek!
DeleteOh you will both know if she will be saved from hell because you will be right there too...harboring hate is a sin in itself..
Deletemelody, i hope you'd still find this letter funny when you're already in hell.
DeleteYou cited all your verses from the OLD TESTAMENT Melody. When Jesus Christ came, He changed the Law kaya nga may tinatawag na NEW TESTAMENT which is Christ's era na wherein hindi na applicable and throwing of stones, burning people, etc. Please read all the books in the Bible and not just the old testament and you will be enlightened!
ReplyDeleteGood point. But then again, the "new" testament is already old. If Jesus is still alive today, dont you think he would also have re-written the Bible? Point is, the times are a changin'.
DeleteBut the letter of "Melody" is meant to be sarcastic. That was for people who think they know the truth, who thinks there god is the ultimate god. The real God is loving, regardless.
Which I think Jesus said "Love you neighbor as you love yourself". Two things then..
Delete(1) where is the love in you?
(2) If this holds true, did Jesus talk of any condition on homosexuality?
It seems like you have been enlightened, now talk to us
Stop using the bible and quoting verses to justify your kabaklaan.Kung bakla o straight ka that's fine.At least mag pagka decente ka sa lahat ng ginagawa mo sa mundo at magdasal, at mamigay ng tulong sa ibang tao.YOU ARE TURNING ALL THIS GAY ISSUES INTO A MELODRAMA THAT NOT ALL PEOPLE REALLY APPRECIATE.STOP INVOLVING GOD FOR THE CHOICES YOU MAKE IN YOUR LIFE,AND JUST BE THANKFUL THAT YOU BREATHE DESPITE THE BLASHPHEMY YOU ALL CREATE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDude, that wasn't drama. That was COMEDY.
Deleteu mad? /trollface
Deletewhoever made this letter is an ignorant fool. we all know the truth, we all know whats right, and homosexuality is definitely wrong. homosexuals woul say not to judge them but they are the one's judging too. remember, a wrong is a wrong even if everyone is doing it. a right is a right even if no one is doing it.
ReplyDeleteSo...if homosexuality is a sin and this country legislates to ban any acts of homosexuality and the homosexuals themselves, are you gonna be in the frontline to persecute them?
DeleteMiriam's opinion is discriminating but it does not mean that it should merit a reaction like this way. The "melody letter" is really very mean as it questioned God and ridiculed the Bible. I did not even bother to read the whole letter. If other people would like to answer to Miriam's stand on LGBT, then you may attack her but kindly leave the Bible alone. It does not mean that because Miriam used the Bible to defend her opinion, you will also used it. People should be more ahead of that by respecting the Bible.
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean that one can use it but the other cannot? I need your answer.
DeleteWhy? Miriam attacked the LGBT community using the Bible, why shouldn't we attack Miriam using the Bible as well?
Deletethis is shameful. masabi lang na magaling sya....
ReplyDeletemiriam was only talking about the ms universe (transgender) issue...she's only saying that real women should be part of ms universe...it's not to discriminate against "those in between"....it's about fairness...they can definitely compete, but with themselves...let the women compete with their fellow women...
ReplyDeleteTRUEEE!!!!
DeleteIf you've read her tweets or what she said, she was indeed attacking the LGBT community in the guise of "the words of God." So fair enough that a rebuttal is in the form of "the words of God," albeit in a sarcastic and funny way.
DeleteHala daldal, hindi naman alam ang sinasabi. Miriam wasn't ONLY talking about the Ms. Universe transgender issue. Dun lang nagsimula, sa issue na yon.
DeleteI love the sarcasm in the letter! :)
ReplyDeleteHay! Yung sinabi ni Miriam to be honest hindi naman nakakainsulto to a point na wala na syang respeto sa LGBT. In her opinion, sa demonyo nanggaling ang homosexuality at hindi sa Diyos. Of course she is straight kaya hirap nya maintindihan ang pagiging LGBT and i am a gay guy myself and a Christian but i respect her stand on it. Kanya kanya lang ng opinion.
ReplyDeleteThe more na apihin si Miriam, the more na pinapakita ng LGBT na tayo (coz im gay) mismo hindi marunong mag tolerate ng iba sa atin.
It all boils down to the Ms U issue, i think mali naman talaga na sumali si Jenna there to begin with kasi understood na yun since that competition started na for women born female naman talaga yun. Talagang malisyoso si Jenna kasi talagang in bad faith nya ginawa yun. Not accepting her in the competition does not mean the public hates transgenders..it just simply means na hindi sya pasok sa criteria ng pageant. Yun lang talaga, no more no less!
DeleteErr... The LGBT community is disappointed that one of its members is not seeing the big picture.
DeleteSa dulo naman ang importante for me is my opinion kasi yun yung "ako". I am self assured and hindi INSECURE. I know "me" and hindi ako naghahanap ng acceptance ng iba para maging buo or okay ako. Like pag pinuna, nawasak na ang whole being.
DeletePERO iba ang physical violence a kasi ibang usapan yun.
Kung hihimayin mo yung sinabi ni Miriam, she is blaming the devil for the idea of homosexuality. The person involved is innocent. Not "lie from the devil" = gays are from hell
Miriam has every right to express her opinion.
ReplyDeleteWe are not taking that away from her, but when you state it like a fact READ: "Homosexuality is not a sin but a lie from the devil.." then there is a responsibility that comes after, especially when you say something as scathing as this.
Deleteditto, to you Anon 5:44PM!
Her face is all over.
DeleteMelody is entitled to her own opinion. Can't she disagree with Miriam? Oh wait, baka possessed! Right! I like the Lydia's lechon bit btw haha! The thing with holier than thou self proclaimed Christians is they loooove to mouth off their beliefs in public. Common sense will tell you that if you do this - as in the case of Miriam, you will invite discourse at the very least because 1) it is a hot button - religion is always a hot button and 2) she is a public figure. So the discourse/debate/whatever is here, biting her in the arse - she cowers and her supporters defend by saying she was only telling the truth and she is entitled to her own opinion. DUH! What about those disagreeing with her? What about Melody? Not entitled to her own opinion? Why? Oh wait, because she's possessed and not speaking the truth unlike Miriam. Right! The point is if you can dish crap, you should know how to take it. Miriam, you chose to voice your opinions in a very public manner knowing full well that you are a public figure and that your topic of choice is controversial. If you really feel like the third sex are an abomination then just say it, don't sugar coat it then apologize later on. Own your beliefs, don't wait to portrayed as a victim waiting for her supporters to defend her. And prepare to defend your position because someone will ALWAYS disagree with you. Don't say something wimpy like "I didn't mean to offend anyone" crap.
ReplyDeleteTHIS. People should read this comment.
DeleteLOVEEET! Hope of everyone reads this comment!
DeleteThis girl melody is mocking the bible...
ReplyDeleteI get melody's point of just making "patama" to miriam's twitter post. But sad to say, she's also clearly mocking the holy bible. If she really disagree with miriam, she should just say it straight to the point and not use the bible.
DeleteI couldn't agree with you more. Hope she can flee the enemy.
Deletethose are stated facts, where is the mockery in that? Truth is, people sometimes use select quotes from the bible to justify what they want to believe. Sadly, a lot have missed the main purpose of the word which is to spread love amongst everyone.
DeleteWow sarcasm at its best! Ibang readers ng FP di magets yung point ng writer eh. She wrote everything literally but the meaning of this whole letter should be taken as "patama" to Miriam's quotes from the bible regarding homosexuality. Her one-liners were offensive to the LGBT provoking some to bash at her like this letter. Understand!
ReplyDeleteThere are ways to get your point across with out being rude dear. Have some manners :)
DeleteTrue! -- CJ
DeleteOo nga. Obviously your point is walang manners si Miriam for citing the bible to prove her crooked beliefs about homosexuality.
DeleteYou are no better of a person than Miriam for writing things in a sarcastic, self righteous manner. There are ways to get your point across with out being as rude and immature. I do not agree w Miriam's self righteous ways but i find your post very repulsive. Just as repulsive as her being self righteous and taking everything in the Bible literally and expecting people to take in her truth-- if not we will all go to hell. That is why we all have to be careful how we interpret the bible. It can be interpreted in many different ways. How about stop adding to the problem by whining and being so rude and sarcastic?
ReplyDeletePlease help mu understand your point and explain the better approach to interpret bible. Please!
ReplyDeleteeverybody is entitled to their own opinion, siyempre. para ano pang demokrasya tayo, di ba? i'm a christian so i understand where miriam's coming from, but i also have relatives na 3rd sex and i'm not judging them as well. it's not for us to judge, it's between them and God. wala naman silang sinasaktan eh... as far as beauty pageants, agree ako sa sinabi ni charlene g. sa PEP - kung maganda ba naman at may K, bakit hindi puwedeng sumali ang transgenders sa pageant? show of diversity and open-mindedness yan... anyway to each his own. peace y'all & God bless...
ReplyDeleteget over yourself, melody
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous way of being sarcastic. No, whoever wrote this never intended to insult the word of GOD. Para yun dun sa mga feeling malilinis. LGBT lang pinagbibigyan ng pansin. Haha! E madami ginagawa ang tao na against the BIBLE bakit di binabatikos? Que Horror!
ReplyDelete--CJ
Hala, Nagkalat ang self-righteous with an holier-than-thou attitude.
ReplyDeleteMove on na. There are MORE Miriam in our country. And that includes anyone who throws stone at her.
ON this issue, you'll know who has the real faith and reads the Bible daily. It's really important to meditate on God's word. As it says " Don't be wise in your opinion."
ReplyDeleteMiriam didn't exclaimed her opinion on the issue, thus she just delivered the WORD of God. And please, her past is the reason why she's a changed person now. Cause before, she thought that she would be happy enough having that guy in her life, but she was wrong and God proved it. And now, she's being used "not to curse" nor "criticize" gays and lesbians but to tell the GOOD NEWS! WHY GOOD NEWS? Yes, it's not our fault to be homosexuals and God knows it too well. That's why He gave us His word (Bible) and the Spirit who will guide our thoughts.
Don't hate Miriam, because if you do, it's like you're rebuking God's word. Please read the Bible and put it in your hearts. God loves us gays soooooooooo much! That's why He wants us to flee from sexual immorality.
I love you kapwa gays! :) WE'RE SO BLESSED!
The thing is not all the People in Philippines are catholics.
DeleteI agree with AnonymousMay 1, 2012 06:13 PM - The letter was written with SARCASM. I actually find the letter funny. And tho those people telling the writer to stop using God and the Bible. OH MY GOD??!! You people have to be veeeery stupid not to get the letter's context!!
ReplyDelete-IamRP
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with what Miriam posted. it's her opinion, it's her point of view. She's not attacking anyone.
ReplyDeleteThis post is just pure sarcasm and should not be taken seriously, so get over it people and move on with your lives.
There's nothing wrong if 1) you were asked/prodded on the issue and 2) u kept it to yourself. Self-righteous, papansin... She should pray over them instead of preaching. Mas kelangn nila ang dasal natn noh!
DeleteI'll move on because its a waste of time but I'll never forget that Miriam somewhat told me and the gay community that we're lies from the devil.
Deleteadoptation?! Ahahaha! Adoptation daw o! Sabeh! Ahahaha!
Very poor reading comprehension.
ReplyDeleteLagot! :p
See you in hell, everyone.
ReplyDeleteGod created man and woman, you can prove it in a lab. XX and XY chromosomes. No surgery can change that. You don't have to be a Catholic to prove it. No amount of surgery can change that fact. No not all women are able to have children and not all can be mothers (common answer to the perennial essence of a woman question), but all women have the xx chromosome.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is when a baby is being developed in the womb they're starting out as having the XY chromosome and then later in the stage, they become a boy. I think there is an abnormality thats why the bekis feel like they're actually women bcos they're estrogens are far stronger than they're progesterones.
DeleteBible is just a inspiration to God.But that doesn't mean that all that is in there is true.
DeleteYou don't need to quote God's words to make a mockery of other people's belief. In fairness to Miriam (in my opinion ha), I think she said it in the nicest way as possible. Naomi also handled it with grace. Miriam is not imposing her truth, she's just telling us that her truth came from God and Naomi's truth came from her own. I'm Catholic and I have gay friends and I know how much it hurts them when they hear "God made man and woman, not man, woman and gay." At the end of the day, I believe that there will always be one supreme being above mankind and if you believe (as I do) that it's God then so be it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!
DeleteLets respect each other and not let some "book" destroy humankind!!!
ReplyDeleteGoodluck nalang miriam on borrowing clothes from designers and having at least decent make up artists. The industry is full of gays and we hate you, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteSa mga producers ng kimmydora, do you think we're gping to enjoy the movie seeing that face on the screen?
ekh.
Matakot naman kayo sa Diyos.
ReplyDeleteit all boils down to one thing = RESPECT. I respect your Christian belief but please respect mine, too. Ganun lang yun. People shouldn't impose their beliefs on others. Yung mga ganyang pagjudge ni Miriam Q ang hindi ko gusto sa ibang Christians, that's why even if halos lahat sa family ko Born Again, I do not want to join them. I believe God doesn't exclude people, di ba dapat nga mahalin mo kapwa mo?
ReplyDeleteOld testament na po yan.. Di na yan applicable. Try New Testament ni Father Alfred Valderama..
Against Christian's teaching naman talaga eh..
ReplyDeleteKung yan paniniwala nia, so be it. Kung yan din paniniwala ng LGBT so be it..
Let's respect one another
Honestly speaking, there's nothing wrong with what Miriam posted on twitter. she's entitled to express her own opinion. though the sad part of it were the words and terms she used, all those were harsh words tlaga and painful to the LGBT community. I have a lot of gray friends and i super love them all. my life would not be colorful as it is today without them. also, it's not the LGBT's fault to be who they are, it's something that happened na gumising sila and yun ung napili nila. i am a roman catholic myself, i strongly believe in God, I have faith, I go to church but not too often, I pray always but I seldom read the bible. Coz i have faith that bible isnt the only way to communicate with him, and thru prayers, God will always guide me along the way. I know God loves the LGBT community despite all the criticisms thrown to them. Gays today are very talented and successful in their own crafts, and i believe that those blessings came from God. everyone should live their life the way they want to live it, basta ba maayos kang namumuhay at walang natatapakang tao, everything would be fine :)
ReplyDeleteI really think that Miriam is trying to make papansin here. She sound sooo self-righteous. No one's asking naman for her opinion and then suddenly, one fine wee hour of the morning, she spewed a lot of verbal diarrhea. Is she's really really loves the LGBT community as she claims she does, she should pray for them more than she preach them.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is there is no god. Believe it or not the world would be peaceful without a god. Think about it, for a moment imagine there's no god. How would humans start to treat each other? God is a make believe being that we create in our mind so we have someone to go to in times of burden. The truth is, we don't need a god and we can stand on our own. Most religious people also use god just to be right, just to protect their ego. We need a god for our ego. Notice it, the more religious a person is, the more righteous a person is. Having a god is an old belief, needed by our ancestors because they didn't have science then to explain natural phenomenons. We got our Christian/Catholic religion from Spain when they conquered us. Kingdoms before need religion to be able to have a reason to conquer others and to appease their conquest. All the answers to religion is in history. You just have to look deeply to understand and all religion is a form of brain wash and that's the truth. Peace.
ReplyDeleteAng pilosopo ng sumulat nito. Panay na lang pangangatwiran at reklamo. Miss Universe is for Women let's keep it that way. Balance of Life na lang. LGBT wants to be accepted hindi pa man fully granted pro other people na open minded like me, already did pero conquering almost all fields parang impossible even ang straight women not all can penetrate in a man's field. Let's just be contented and stay happy un nman ang importante.
Miriam has just voiced out what she feels about 3rd sex joining real woman competition like MU. It is as if real woman may now join gay beauty contests which is absurd. But to take bible verses, her opinions have just gone overboard.
And this is it, many so-called prophets have trolled their way thru the net. Come on! Turo sa akin ni Father Reuter sa pagbabasa ng MB Sunday Mag, when we enter heaven, we will not be judged by black and white.
Puwes dapat may kani-kaniyang dapat lugaran.
Miriam may be a celebrity but she's still a person who's free to have her own beliefs. We are still a democratic country, aren't we? In the same way that LGBTs are allowed to express their voices, have their marches and rallies and flourish in whatever industry they want, then it should have been no different for Miriam. She didn't say any foul words or anything below the belt. She simply quoted the Bible. She didn't call anyone mean names. And she outrightly admitted her own sinfulness from the start, that she is in no way superior to anyone else. So where's the self righteousness there?
ReplyDeleteNow, as for the Bible... Not all parts of it are to be taken literally. When Jesus said that we should pluck out our eye if it causes us to sin, He did not mean that we should actually gouge out our eyeballs. If you don't understand a passage in the Bible, study other references. Ang daming commentaries online. Ask your priest or pastor. There should be no reason to just take it at face value and then make ignorant sarcastic remarks out of it. The Bible can be a complicated book. It was written by many authors over a span of 2,000 years. When the book of Leviticus was written, that was when the Law of Moses was still being upheld. This was the time when animal sacrifices and all sorts of rituals were still being done. But since Jesus died on the cross we are already under the new law, the law of the New Testament. That's why we do not observe any more those commands to not wear combined fabric, not eat animal fat, or have people stoned to death. So to the writer of the letter above, you should have at least done your homework first instead of plagiarizing someone else's work to adapt to your own liking and putting those verses totally out of context.
As for the issue of homosexuality, it's my own personal belief that God did not will man and man to be together, nor woman and woman. And you can find that in both the old AND new testaments. Having said that, though, I don't condemn homosexuals, since I myself also have my own sins, both sexual and non-sexual. Our own sins or lifestyle choices are personal issues between us and God. At the end of the day, it's only us and us alone who will be answerable to God for our decisions and choices.
Opinion and thoughts ni Miriam yun. Huwag na tayong mangi-alam. Kung hindi tayo agree, eh di hindi. May freedom of speech po tayo. She did not in any way commit slander or libel. It's not even derogatory. Huwag masyadong sensitibo. At namamahiya talaga ng tao (although I love her). Super naman kung maka react kay MQ. If you don't believe her, then don't. As a (renewed) Christian, she is just doing her duty to evangelize and spread the word of God.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I'm Catholic and surrounded by gay friends.
time giver???
ReplyDeleteKONG ANG MGA BAKLA AY GALING SA DEMONYO AYON KAY MIRIAM. PANO NAMAN YONG MGA PRIEST NA GAY, GALING DIN SA DEMONYO? LOL
ReplyDeletei respect what you are trying to say.ikaw sa tingin mo pag inatake ang pagkatao mo tatahimik ka lang ba? ganun din ang nagiging reaction ng lgbt, they feel violated by such. if you are telling the LGBT to respect miriam's opinion, dapat ikaw din irespeto mo ung opinion/reaction nila towards her. respect begets respect dear.
Deletemay point ka teh!
DeleteIs it just me or is MiriamQ on her way to becoming the next Mystica ala krung krung? Parang ganun ang vibes na nafifeel ko... Hmm?
ReplyDeleteThis is a non-sense letter- everybody is entitled to their own opinion. That's Bull-Sh**
ReplyDeleteI give respect to Miriam than to Charlene Gonzales Mulach. Atleast, Miriam is making her own stand- unlike Charlene who at first did not like the idea of transgender going/joining to Ms. Universe- then after few days, she agrees with that.
great job....sometimes we forget the very thing that God taught us in the first place....LOVE....
ReplyDeletesometimes we forget "Love your neighbor as you love yourself"
and sometimes we forget not everyone is a Christian, Catholic, Protestant, Evangelicals, etc
yes we lived in a God-fearing Country whose majority of the populace goes to church once a week or more yet look at our surroundings, look at how we treat each other daily?
yes i agree, this is not HIS Kingdom, because someday all these things will come to pass, BUT lets allow ourselves to spread the language of love and not to spite each other,
Its very ironic for Miriam for not choosing her words right especially when she was asked to guest in a TV show , well she is not a spokeswoman, she is just a beauty queen, (1st runner-up nga lang sa Ms Universe, di ba) yet she spoke of her "personal" beliefs and convictions, and i feel it is time, others should speak out as well, and not hide in the bushes, and dont let others dictate what our lives should be....
Christian or not. Right or Wrong. Whats your take on the matter on how you deal towards people around....
Yes it is great for topics to be discussed. But at the end i HOPE for a progressive debate rather than yung palengke style na kung ano ano nalang sinasabi
DeleteI get the sarcasm. Pero hindi benta sa akin yung paggamit niya ng bible verses simply because it's disrespectful and insensitive to Christians/Catholics. If LGBTs want to be respected they have to respect others belief too. I am now in a country where people w/ different beliefs coexist and the SECRET is just RESPECT for each other they dont say offensive words to other people's religion and preferences.
I am gay guy myself, and I understand where Miriam is coming from. I don't exactly agree with her statement, but it's her opinion after all. It's her personal belief. I think she just went to far as to imposing her beliefs to others and making them others feel that their beliefs are false.
I have my own belief and principles. It was shaped by the events that took place in my life. The LGBT community has dealt with discrimination for a long time, and I think this is just one of those days that the belief of the community is being challenged. If you (LGBT) believe that you're not doing anything wrong, and that you're living you're life according to your principles, then you shouldn't let yourself be affected by the opinion of some person.
ReplyDeleteNICE example of sarcasm. :-)
ReplyDeleteOr we can all just agree to disagree.
