Got this email from a very concerned and disturbed parent. Please read on:
Hi FP,
I am writing you to share an observation. Last Friday, I received an email asking my daughter to drop by at an audition for a children's show in a major network. After I have confirmed that the invitation was valid, we decided to go and attended the said screen test. Audition went well and my daughter was asked to comeback next Saturday. She made friends with some of the children but one child star tried to pick a fight with my four-year old, shouting, "SHUT UP! Ang ingay ingay mo!!" (complete with a bitch tone and the 'pamewang' to boot) and even posed shadow boxing aimed at my girl. My daughter knew the girl from TV and even called her name. I did some research and found out that it was indeed her.
I was aghast to see how this child star reacted towards my daughter as she looked really nice on TV and seemed so polite and humble in her interviews. She even celebrated her birthday with the less fortunate "pero ubod pala ng arte at yabang ang bata na ito. Hindi pa masyadong sikat pero napakayabang na." The child's mother just stood there doing nothing and was even laughing when her daughter was doing a shadow boxing at my girl. One observer said that the child star felt a little insecure because my girl speaks English and registers really well on the TV.
My daughter asked her, "Why are you being cross with me?" The child star replied, " Anong cross cross, ha?! ha?! "
As much as I would like to bring my daughter back to the show, I prefer not to anymore. She is too young and I don't want her to be subjected to this child star's wicked antics and bullying.
I hope you can post this email so that parents of children who wish to audition will know what to expect: that there's such a thing as that major network's child stars behaving badly. :(

Parents who subject their children to fame at a young age should be prepared and adamant that their children remain humble and polite despite the special treatments and attention they receive.

ReplyDeleteI know the baby girl who auditioned. She's very pretty. Her mom just grabbed her and walked away after the incident. The girl even said: Mama please let me stay to watch and learn.. Please Mama... She was only there for a screen test but she was asked to stay and join in some frame shots. This thing happened last Saturday. I tried to make them stay but the mom said no na lang daw. As for the child star, our EP talked to her Mom -PA GB

Kaya siya annoying kasi super hard sell siya ng kanyang TV Station. Hindi naman marunong mag deliver ng lines. Tapos mali pa ang timing sa pagpapatawa. Nakita ko siya two nights ago, may bago siyang show with a child star at ayun, panay ang sabi nung kasama niya na sana maging best friends sila. Wala siyang kibo. Basta ang sabi niya ang role niya daw ay pangit kasi maitim siya. Bastos na bata. Maitim lang pangit na?

Fast forward a couple of decades later, sexpot na palengkera. Other successful child stars? Maricel Soriano. Nino Mulach. Even Juday is not without her skeletons in the closet. This is what you are getting your kid into. What were you thinking?

She seems like a bratty, self-indulgent, big-headed child who isn't being brought up properly by her elders. Lord, please get her off tv!! Ewan ko ba sa kapuso why they keep producing crappy talents.

ReplyDeleteNag-aral ako sa elementary school na maraming child stars o kaya anak ng celebrity or connected sa showbiz. Nope, hindi OB MOntessori pero sa San Juan din. Karamihan sa kanila, hindi ko nilalahat, over-privileged o masyadong entitled. Out of touch sila sa realidad kasi puro papuri lang natatanggap nila. Walang magawa yung mga parents nila kasi breadwinner mga anak nila o sadyang mga wala silang kwentang parents. Tapos kinakampihan pa sila ng teachers and principal. Inaayaan lang mga bully ways nila. Yung isa kong classmate na minor child actor and anak ng direktor palaging absent tsaka bagsak sa mga tests pero na-pro-promote pa rin ng school year pero yung ordinary na bata uulit ng school year. Siga-siga sa school pero ni minsan hindi na-pri-principal. Same personalities nakita ko pa rin sa college in Espana. Ganun pa rin sila umasta kahit malalaki na. Still holding on to their glory years as kiddie stars kahit la-ocean deep na. Marami well-adjusted at tumitino naman. Pero marami rin feeling na umeere pa Ang TV/That's Entertainment.

Nabasa ko. Sabi ko sana tinira yung magulang/yung manager/ yung network at hindi yung bata. Bata yun eh. Edi form of bullying din yung pagrelease sa press, diba? Cyber bullying eh? Kung bully yung child star dapat pangaralan yung magulang, comprontahin yung magulang, or sulatan ang network.

If I'm guessing it correctly, the PA GB who commented would be from Going Bulilit, right?

ReplyDeleteShesh, THIS IS ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE STORY. We are no better than the child actress 'being cross' as we talk nasty about her. She has an excuse for her attitude--- SHE IS A KID,while we have none. Besides I have great doubts on the veracity of this sour-graping stage mother's story.

ReplyDeleteAno ba naman itong mga comments dito? Some people here are acting worse than the kids. It doesn't really matter at all kung taga saan syang network. Kids will be kids ok? What do you expect from a 4 or 5 vear old? They are just being themselves and what they do most of the time are just part of their being playful to which looks like bullying to others. In my view, nag over react lang ang mother dito at na offend dahil nga KSP (kulang sa pansin) ang anak nya. Kung totoo man na nangyari ang kwento nya, she should have talked to the production staff and not grab her kid to walk out.. Now, if after talking to the production staff at wala pa rin silang ginawa then she could just ask permission to leave graciously. The mother acted so childish at gumawa ng eksena na ang purpose yata ay para mapag usapan ang kanyang anak at maging showbiz news item

Im not saying magpaka perfect pero wag yung magpaka barumbado o palenkera like MR, CR, insteadvna itolerate nila at itago ang mga kabalastufan, dapat nasa rules nila na pwede silang i suspend at tanggalan ng projects pag nag misbehave para naman tumino.sama na din yan alcoholic na JLC! DeleteAlam ko ang kwento, andon kami. Yung bata maganda talaga tapos super biba pero hirap magtagalog so english english ito... pero pag yung nanay ang kausap spanish spanish sila. Tahimik naman sila saka mukhang strict si Mrs. Leviste kasi noong nasa labas palang sila ng Studio 5 nadaan ko sila, she was briefing her daughter na wag kang maingay sa loob people here are working, you stay beside me. you only talk when people are already talking to you. mga ganyan yung narinig ko. Tapos may dala silang mga damit na naka hanger as in prepared sila. Pagpasok nila kinausap kagad ni Direk yung parent then sinalang for Audition. Then sabi ni direk isama na daw si Little girl sa next shot which makakasama nya si Little Sirena. All this time, andon lang si Letter Sender sa tabi watching her daughter interact with the children. They were dancing, playing. Yung mga little boys ang nakikipag usap kay little girl. Then si Little Sirena biglang pumasok at hinahambaan na susuntukin si Little Girl mejo busy kasi ang staff dahil nagkakainan at may Birthday celebration kasi that day kaya di masyadong napansin ang nangyari. Hindi ito first time nangyari, Favored kasi yang si little Sirena kaya mejo may attitude. Isa lang ang di nya kaya awayin dyan. Si Madam Ana lang.

ReplyDeleteAko yung parent ng bata. una sa lahat hindi po kami randomly na pumunta sa Audition na yun. M. A. of S. M. (the artist arm of the network) saw my daughter in a mall and graciously asked for our number, we even swapped email addresses. This was 6-7 months ago. She would constantly remind us of screen test which di namin napupuntahan because I have work. Last friday I again received an email, this time it was from a certain EP of the show asking my daughter to come in for a screen test. tao kaming pumunta doon and lahat ng bata properly behaved. Siya lang po ang hindi. Siya lang din ang nangaway at andoon ang Mother nya when it happened. As a parent, aware ako na wala akong right to reprimand the child so when I saw her na sinashadow boxing ang anak ko, tumakbo ako from where they were and grabbed my daughter kesa masaktan pa. This was the pinacle na po. I hope you understand na kahit sinong nanay eh di naman din papayag na masaktan ang anak nya. So binuhat ko ang daughter ko at nagmamadali kaming umalis. Noong una she was just yelling at my daughter saying wag ka dyan. Shut up! Tumahimik ka. Eh my daughter was being asked by the floor director to sing and to say a dialogue. Sino naman ang susundin ng anak ko? yung Floor Director or si Childstar? Lahat naman tayo naging bata pero hindi po normal ang umakto ka na manununtok ng by random lang. Except if you are crazy or a victim of abusive environment. Hindi ako sumulat kay FP to malign the child. Pero dapat maitama ang mali. kasi mali naman po talaga ang nangyari. I appreciate the feedback and the comments pero I would like to reiterate na hindi ako stage mother or nag pi-feeling stage mother. Kung ganon ako eh di sana di kami umalis. Sana nakipagbalitaktakan ako doon or sana shinadow box ko rin yung nanay nya. I apologize if may na offend sa pagbabahagi ko ng kwento ko at ng anak ko. DeleteWhat barking at the wrong tree are you talking about? I am a showbiz insider, and I know where the mom is coming from. Not all auditions for tv shows are done "pila-pila" style maghapon na maraming applicants. There are special cases that instead of doing that (which is time consuming and taxing) production people just refer to their data file of potential talents who they want to screen test when the need arises. Two or three kids is the usual number. The childstar in question probably took notice of the 4-year old girl bec of her looks, and we can say na pwede na na-insecure siya. Don't underestimate showbiz kids. They maybe kids, but the nature of their work and surroundings make them mature faster than the average kids in the neighborhood. They know that their job is a big competition.

According sa letter sender at don sa Production Assistant ng Show, andoon ang mother ni childstar when it happened. Tumatawa nga lang daw ito when her daughter exhibited the Hurricane Julaton inside of her. Dapat yung nanay ni childstar ang sumuheto sa sarili nyang anak. Wag nyo sisihin yung letter sender dahil kung sa anak ko nangyari yan, susungangain ko ang nanay ni child star at si childstar kesehodang magka pulisan kami doon. ReplyDeleteI don't think gusto ng nanay sumikat ang anak nya... kasi kung yun ang agenda dapat nakipag away na sila doon pa lamang sa studio. Saka sabi nya hindi na nya dadalhin ang anak nya sa mga Audition. So it means hindi sila interesado sa fame or money. May kilala ako sa pila pa lang ng audition nakikipag away na, makapag audition lang.
