I’m an avid reader of your blog and I know that you not only post blind items, but also some of your readers’ experiences with bad service, scams, etc., as caution to your other readers. I hope you will post this, not only as caution to your readers, but to call attention also to the organizer of a particular sports event held last October.
This event was sponsored by a popular shoe/sports apparel brand. The number of participants was overwhelming. In all fairness, the event was organized at first with just some minor hiccups (which was understandable because it was a big event). They gave us a runner’s kit before the race (as advertised) and “promised” us a finisher’s kit as well after the race. After the race, we were surprised when we only received a poster and a letter saying that our finisher’s kit will just be sent to the address provided in our registration form.
At that point it was fine with us but as weeks past, we still did not receive our finisher’s kit. The last update they gave us through their Facebook page was last November and that they said they will be delivering this finisher’s item first week of December. It’s now February and we still have not received this item.
If ever they will organize another Run this year I really hope that they will stick to their promise, but I do not think I will be joining this event this year anymore.

ReplyDeletetwice na sumali ung brother ko. mas ok un 2011 event nla at may dala nman cya kit aftr the event including un medal.. wala naman cya complains.

ReplyDeleteLetter N ba ito?? Here in SG naubos din finisher nila. Last Dec ko din nareceive yung finisher. Baka naman kse mabagal talaga pagdedeliver ng mail satin. Sabi sakin bka nga by batch kse yung friend ko sabay kme natapos pero wala pa sa kanya :)

ReplyDeleteWe did receive our USB kit ..Weehoo!!! We are 8 in d family who ran fr this event !!! And it was all delivered to our doorstep just last week. I'm sorry that u didn't hav your's yet, ,,, but r u sure u wrote ur name and address correctly ? Kc maybe wala mag recvd s house Nyo during delivery date... Wait ka LNG coz if u signed properly all d details u myt recevd soon... Big company Ito hndi sila papasira :-)))

ReplyDeletei spoke with the person who works for the event organizer last sunday (jan 29) in the bgc store. she came up to me to ask if i already got my finisher's kit (i was wearing the official race shirt when i dropped by the store to register for the mangroves run). since i moved to a new house in the last quarter of 2011, they had my old address. i gave my new delivery info for the second batch of finisher's kit delivery.

Deletemaka chosera ka naman.. kasama ka ba sa tumakbo? hindi ka ba nadisappoint na sa dulo ang natanggap mo poster lang? hindi naman necessary na ganun kagarbo ang finisher's kit pero hindi rin naman ung runners ang ang dictate ng kung ano ung ipapamigay nila.. e kung di pala nila kayang ipamigay the day itself sana hindi un ang sinabi nilang finisher's kit..

ReplyDeleteas per my officemate even w/o that item you were waiting for, the shirt that was given was more than enough for the price you paid by joining the race. i agee w/ others that PATIENCE is a virtue and as long as you enjoyed the event then why hesitate joining again? are you running because of the KIT you were promised???!!! RL, don't bother us with complaints like this!

kasi last december may nagtetext sa amin about it..and we just replied kung saan namin gusto ipadala yung item...
ngayon namang nareceive ko na yung item...tinext pa rin ako dahil mali dw yung address na binigay ko..pero nareceive ko naman na..hehe
FP, for complaint letters, why are they blind pa rin? Shouldn't they be open? Kasi what's the point of complaining about someone if you're not going to name them? Worse, that casts doubt on the company-in-question's competitors kasi hindi alam ng reader kung sino sa kanila. Pero back to topic tayo, kilala ko yung kompanya dito. Di pa rin natatanggap ni jowa ang finisher's kit niya.

Ang insensitive mo naman! Hindi iyon ang point nung letter sender, kung hindi, there was a promise na di natupad. Nakakainis talaga ung ganon.

ReplyDeleteMe and my friends also got our kits last week. The total number of runners was really big and things may have happened along the way that caused the problem for them not to fulfill their promises. I think they (the organizers) should learn from this experience. It happens to, if not all but, many event races. There's this one race that supposed to have a buffet meal after the race. But they ended up serving packed meals...til the next race. :)

In fairness, they did a text blast asking for the participant's contact details... and I did see a post asking for those who haven't gotten their kits to contact them. But the letter writer was right, it makes you wonder what took them so long to release it.
ReplyDeleteWhat bothered me more was the chaos in the baggage claim after the event. It could have been a one-off, but I was expecting better from this organizer.
wait ka lang dear. my friends got their keys last week lang. i guess by batch kasi ung pagdedeliver nila. wag masyado madisappoint sa malalaking events minsan talagang may mga bagay na d maiiwasan and overwhelming din lang cguro ung dami ng partioipants kaya kinulang cla ng finisher kit.d din kasi madaling magrequest and magpareapprove ng mga supplies. konting hintay pa dear.
