GD laments that the board of directors, who belong to this family, are all out on bail after being indicted for allegedly pocketing the earnings of their stores. GD refutes the claim that the variety of stores closed down due to poor sales. Until the very end, the stores made money, ranging from 1M during lean months to as much as 2M to 3M in major malls.
Payments were either delayed or not made to the designers, rent, suppliers, and subcontractors, among others. Even GD remains unpaid until now. The little people (suppliers of accessories and subcontractors of those who made dresses for them) who have yet to be paid, have kept quiet as they did not want to be stressed out in pursuing the case.
GD remains steadfast in its cause for justice against this family. GD hates seeing some members of this family still living the high life in spite of what they have done.
GOSH!!

(My gahd, these siblings talaga...)
ReplyDeleteSayang 'tong store na 'to. Ganda pa naman ng dresses from the "little" designers. Bad lang yung management.

iba-iba, various-various, different-different!
At that time kasi they had the trendiest and most stylish clothes at more or less affordable prices. They were among the first to upgrade their ads and marketing materials to be at par with international clothing stores. Pero sa latter part, they were just over priced and used cheap fabric. So I don't know, nilalangaw na talaga sila before they closed down...but the BI says otherwise so who knows...
Ohhhhhh ... i get it now.
O-mygas! They still haven't paid up? Ang tagal na ha! And you still see them all over the society pages and even in Vogue! Que barbaridad!

ReplyDeleteHETO PA CLUE: another word for - iba iba, kung anu ano...
ReplyDeleteNAGETS KO DIN SA WAKAAAAAAAS!!!
His story was featured in the newspaper before and if I remember correctly, he started everything with just t-shirts. He made it successful, made it to the high society and eventually married a model. Tapos dami nila businesses including the no brand/no name store and a Pampanga food-themed resto. I remember the article saying either that they made P600M a year or that was their total net worth. At the young age I read that article, I vowed to accummulate that same amount of money through the same entrepreneurial means. Tapos ganito lang pala kinalabasan. I used to love this store, I bought all of my formal dresses there, including my prom dress. Sayang talaga. Kawawa yung group of designers.

Are you sure this is S? I used to work here and the owners were very kind but i am not sure really... When i left the company it ws already losing money... There was this store manager allegedly is sneaking products out and selling it outside... Anyhow, yeah I heard they still havent paid all those employees they let go... Tsk tsk tsk...
ReplyDeleteI cant help but comment on this one. I tried not to, for fear of saying too much. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHere goes.
I've worked closely with the owners for quite some time and I'll always look up to them as one of my mentors in the industry, especially my direct superior then. His mind was brilliant, a true businessman. Creative and innovative. Yes, they would copy ideas (abroad) but in this industry, who doesnt? Everyone gets ideas everywhere, even outright rip-offs.
In its heyday, the brand/logo/store was everywhere. Leading glossies, editorials and spreads galore. Endorsement by the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Stores would be closed during sales due to massive customer turnouts. Big time. Major.
But like any family-run business, there would be issues, mostly financial. Cant comment much on this but I guess it got out of hand. Mismanaged some would say. Until they separated. One would continue the brand while one pursued/maintained others. The rest got busy with other endeavors.
If its true that they still havent settled most of their financial obligations in the past, thats indeed sad. What started as a phenomenal business ended as a dismal failure, at least to those who know.
Oh, the suppliers of indigenous materials of the model-turned-businesswoman (shes now making waves with her clutch/handbag collection abroad)should be warned then (haha!) The things exposure and connection can do for someone...
That's all.
Good morning Mike and all the ladies in the house! :-)
ReplyDeleteito ba yung bahay kubo kahit munti
ReplyDeletedont know who are the owners or the siblings..but if this is truly the S store that was famous wayback..sayang talaga..i used to buy my clothes there, everytime i go to a mall, i make sure i go first to their store to check out what i would like to buy there.... wala pang B and K nun and they are the trendsetters...hmmm kaya pala bigla nalang sila nawala sa malls, coz i did not think that they would go bankrupt...

ReplyDeleteYes!! This is definitely S (where we buy our tingi tingi suka, mantika, shampoo and the like). A blog post about the owners' non-payment and legal cases came out as early as 2009. Due to mismanagement nga daw and supposed high living (the owners were fond of buying expensive cars, among others). The store also used to have a female in-house designer who was very much associated with the brand until the financial problems came. The female designer ended up suing the owners too. Tsk tsk. To think this store was super popular back in the day. I myself bought a lot of clothes from them before.
ReplyDeleteI know them personally. The Lady is really nice when she's with her friends from her modeling days. The guy, he used to be nice too and would tag along with the models after rehearsals or shows. He was just starting then with his reflector design Tshirts. But that was before. Now the lady has remained nice when she is not infront of the media /press. but the husband is the ultimate SCola. Heard that when wife gets together with her co models, he never shows up to face them. Either he's out or if and when he arrives during the party, he'd take the back door to avoid being seen. He only socializes with people who can be of use to him. Isa siyang NOKIA...user friendly. And to think amuyong lang naman siya noon ng mga modelo dahil pinagsisiksikan nya sarili nya to get close to them so that he can use them to promote his merchandize. Some say he squired his wife to use her for their business.
ReplyDeleteshucks, ito pala nangyari sa boutique na yun. i so loooove them. as in LOVE! so sad :(
ReplyDelete- chocolate angel
Naku, favorite ko pa naman ang clothes nila noong early 90s.I remember eating bread with sandwich spread for brkfast, lunch and dinner, para ma-ipon ang allowance para may pambili ng sarong from this ____-____ store.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a lot of FP reader who are younger would not know this store. "iba-iba" at "varieties" ang kanyang store. It was this store who uses a price tag in tagalog and it clicked they wanted it to be unique and maka bayan. It's really hi-fi living and mismanagement that cause the fall.
