I know how effective and powerful your blog has become. I am a frequent client of this certain salon and some of its employees have become close to my heart. I hope that this letter can help them voice out their complaints.
A few weeks ago, I heard that the owner of this salon has not been paying his staff but I thought it was just a rumor. What I know is that he pays his staff so low that they have to rely on the customers' tips. They also have to hard sell some of the expensive products and services so that they can earn more money from the commissions.
However. yesterday when I was at the salon, the girl who does my nails told me that she has not received her salary for more than a month already. Another staff who overheard our conversation also confirmed that he has not received his salary last month as well. According to him, many of their colleagues already resigned because they can no longer take the system because this is not the first time that this happened.
FP, if you or any of your readers would like to verify this complaint, I suggest that you visit the branch that I go to somewhere in the south. Apparently, this problem also applies to the other branches. The sad part is all employees are even prohibited from calling the head office to follow up their salaries.
Thanks you much Fashion Pulis! More power to you and your readers.
Sincerely,
Meredith

oh man, this is way too unjust.
ReplyDeleteGandah ng lola mo ba ito?
ReplyDeleteEto ba yun may beauty school before? Hmm... Mrs. B.
ReplyDeleteomg..?? is this true??? di ba kilala ang may-ari ng salon sa mga charities niya? ang dami niyang natutulungan di ba? alam nya kaya to???
ReplyDeleteKung siya nga ito, I think he's in financial trouble. I read somewhere that he is in some sort of tax problem.
ReplyDeleteJust Google his name (ganda ng lola nyo) + 'tax problem'.
Is this the "Mader ng Ganda"? Hunted by the BIR toh, recently lang. And soon to be hunted by unpaid employees.
ReplyDeleteMay kamag anak na nagbabarbeque?! :p
ReplyDeletetama! ganda ng lola mo!
ReplyDelete-beng
May artista ba sa salon na ito?
ReplyDeleteThe lady who does my wax also told me about this.
ReplyDeleteThough the chain of salon is managed by the siblings, the Haircutters one. I think this is the salon with the problem, the budget salon. But the "main" or "legit" salon which offers more expensive services, I don't know if they have issues like these.
ReplyDeletehindi si mother ito. its the straight brother who capitalized on his gay brother by using their surname. parang kabuteng nagsulputan ang mga budget masa salon. he even studied at AIM for his masteral pero di naman pala profitable yun budget salon nya. kawawa naman.
ReplyDeleteI used to have my nails done in the branch in gh way back in the lates 90's. One time, may fave manicurista was in unimart with her other co-workers carrying bags of groceries. "wow ha, nag grocery kayo" I told them, they answered "di po, bumili mo kami ng donate po namin sa Kay Mother' I asked anong donation, it turned out what was donated by mother all came from the employees, obligado pala sila ng lahat...hay naku There is this other salon owner who does not pay the SSS share of her employees. This salon sponsors lots of stars.

ReplyDeleteI know who this is, one of his/her previous hairdressers moved to our company, employee na namin for how many years now.
ReplyDeleteThe former hairdresser was my mom's favorite since gamay nya hair ng mom ko, we were surprised when one time naitanong namin out of the blue how much their sweldo is, sobrang baba talaga parang hindi na talaga makatao. Andami daw kasi nilang branches na lugi thats why the management cant afford to pay them accordingly.
Those outreach programs or donations na lagi natetelevise, I know our employee wont lie, they are required to bring groceries sa christmas party nila so the "godmother" can donate them to the less fortunate or sa mga institutions ng mga elderly or ng mga mentally challenged without even giving proper credits na its actually his employees who shelled out money for those groceries. Take note, may required quantity pa yan ha, and godmother tells them "its not bad to help the less fortunate and the mentally challenged sometimes" oh yeah, edi sana pera nalang nya ginagamit nya entirely, or at least credit the contribution of his staff. Masyadong mapapel, kaya I dont buy stories na he is super nice and generous sa mga needy.
Medyo inconsiderate din sila sa mga employees nila, one of their senior hairdressers assigned sa SM southmall coz he lives in san pedro laguna got assigned sa SM Marikina siguro for almost a year now, kung di lang daw nya kailangan ng trabaho, he would resign na dahil sobrang hassle na yung layo ng byahe.
several years back, i had my hair colored in the market market branch. after its done, i noticed that the gray strands that im trying to cover up are still there. turned out that they used a cheap solution. it has to be done all over again. nagmamadali pa naman ako noon. i never patronized that salon ever again!
ReplyDeleteAs much as it is so much fun to read BIs and have the right guesses, I don't think that this is the best venue to get the best help for the unpaid staff of that salon.
ReplyDeleteThe staff should go straight to the NLRC to file a complaint about non-payment of what is due them. The NLRC will get in touch with the owner and will have a "mediation". I am sure that the owner will have to pay these employees ASAP or the NLRC will file a case with the Dept of Labor.
These employees should not be afraid of losing their jobs despite approaching the NLRC because they are protected by labor laws. They are demanding only what is due them. And while they're at it, they can even volunteer info on other unpaid dues and benefits (SSS etc).
sinong mother? mother lily?
ReplyDeleteI hope it's not the one owned by the brother. I've been going to a few of their branches for the past few years na, very very good service and clean facilities. I even have my rebonding there every year coz it costs just 2k and maganda pa. Haircuts nila P50 only, would you believe. Ok pa ang gupit. They have never disappointed me so far and I've saved so much money and enjoyed good service at the same time from them. As for the one owned by the Mother, I'll never go back there! Once, I asked for a trim. Paglabas ko ng salon my hair was one length nga, pero when I felt my hair at the back, the stylist had also left me pala a 'buntot', as in tail! Kainiz!! Another time, I asked them how much did they charge for rebonding, the bakla didn't know what to answer and he had to go to the back and consult with these other baklas for several minutes, feeling ko they were trying to decide on a price that they could earn from me. A senior looking bakla came out and gave me an astronomical price, I almost fainted when I heard it. I turned around and walked away as fast as I could.
ReplyDeletebaka isang branch yan under his brother. baka di marunong magpatakbo?
:( how sad! Lilipat nalang ako ng salon... :(
ReplyDeleteif it's from the brother salon, most of their branches are franchise so they are not the one running the business at all, I think it's so unfair for mother ang gantong issue.
ReplyDelete-liz-
anonymous 9:54 am... I think it's mother earth or mother of all mother heheh
ReplyDeleteyung salon managed by the sibling are the ones with another name, yung mga nasa mall, lahat yan managed by "ganda ng lola mo" himself, in fact lagi yan nagrarounds sa mga branches nya once in a while. Regarding the services, hindi naman talaga ganun kaganda, I sorta understand why they are too pushy sometimes sa pagrerecommend ng mga treatments, they need the extra tip eh since ang baba nga masyado ng sweldo nila.
ReplyDeletegrabe kawawa nmn mga tauhan nya, well goodluck baka makasalubong nila ung si ate karma martin!
ReplyDeletegawa sila ng letter sa labor..and tumawag sila sa head office..kelangan nila umaksyon and wag silang matakot!!pero before they do that, maghanap na sila ng lilipatan para amgkaproblem man, atleast meron na silang ppuntahan
ReplyDelete-kuLet
Hahaha! May nagpapagawa pa pala dun?!!!
ReplyDeletecheapness naman kasi salon niya. i goto t&g, no cheapness issues like that there.
