if chronologically base.. D's site was the 1st.. J's was just recent.. she used to be on multiply.com.. been following her since multiply.. then she just created this new website of hers.. but D's was since 2007.. but i dont really think J copied from D.. J is really quite creative.. she might just have thought of that logo not realizing it's similar with D's.. purely coincidence i must say.. =)
uyy parang friends yang dalawang yan. i think J mentioned D in her blog/twitter before. ang alam ko made by a friend lang naman yung 'icon' ni J. Wala namang actual na copyahan na naganap. btw J's icon really looks like her.
Maybe it's just a coincidence. And besides, it's the web designer who came up with the design (of D's site, not sure of J). But really, this is not an issue at all. D's sideview image is not her official logo naman, and both of them don't earn with those images so walang kaso kung may kopyahan man talaga.
D has a post before featuring who made the design of her blog, even the icons for the pages. The door in her blog was a picture of her own front door. So I think each and every icon in her blog represents something personal to her.
BUT I think that this shouldn't be a big deal at all. Since those aren't even copyrighted.
But as to who has a better site, I think D's better than J's. J's site is complicated. Too much stuff going on. D's site is simple yet elegant.
Anyway their blogs are different but informative in their own fields.. and I don't think anyone of them would try to imitate each other kasi ang lame naman diba. I am a fan of both blogs they're both entertaining..
I don't believe one copied the other. They're profile images each representing their identity online. J happens to have a short hair so she went with that for her site logo. D's img has a pony tail. And the mouth is closed. J's img logo is inside an oblong frame while D's is not. J's is wearing sunnies, D;s is not. Totally different profile caricatures. Geebuz!
With all due respect, the only similarity I see is that the faces are profiles. Other than that, wala na. One is prominently displayed on the top of the homepage while the other is just one of the icons (for About). Then one is more cartoon-y while the other is more of a style in an "antique print" na parang for old, old textbooks.
So, if there's no obvious copying, are you implying then that there's a backstory between these two women? Meron ka bang alam na alitan/jealousy going-on between the two of them behind the scenes? Kasi kung wala, I don't think there's anything intriguing about the two images kasi they are not really similar (except nga na parehong profiles).
D is miss urbanista and J is miss shoppingera. pero no biggie! may pagkakaiba naman dating. hindi naman same level ng "pilipinas kay ganda" so keber na lang! :D
I visit these blogs daily like FP. If you visit these sites, you'll know that they are completely different from each other. J's site exudes fun while D's site is clean & simple.
FP, you know I love you, but you're stirring up trouble where there's none. It's not like any of the designs are groundbreaking and have never been seen before. And, actually, the inspirations are quite different.
J's is obviously inspired by a cameo, given the frame around the picture of her profile.
D's is just a simple picture of a girl's (not her, by the way) profile.
The vibe is completely different, too. J has more of a modern, hip feel to it, while D's is more vintage-y.
By putting this up, accusations are being thrown about and there are discussions about who's a better blogger. Why stir up conflict when there's none to begin with?.
And I'd also be careful if I were you. You're basically accusing one of them of plaigarism ("Who copied whom?") and if I were one of the designers for these ladies, I'd be quick to defend my work in public.
Thank you to the other commenters for the clues. I was able to deduce who J and D are.
I visited both their blogs and I think the overall layout and design of both blogs are different from each other.
The only similarity I found is the use of the profile (side view of an image), something that is not at all obvious had it not been pointed out here on FP.
While J used a profile at the top and center of her blog in the banner header/blog title, D used a profile to identify one of her top menus.
And the image used in each profile is also different.
I don't think someone copied from someone else. Using a profile is not a unique or original concept to either blogger.
This is really a non-issue, unless someone has an axe to grind against one of bloggers.
J's blog was launched in July 25. On the other hand, the conceptualization of D's blog started early this year (maybe even last year) and then officially launched in June. So, based on the chronology of events, you tell me, who copied who?
J's new site may be new but that logo was already featured n her previous blog. May desgner sya for this logo na paulit ulit nya mnemention and pnpasalamatan. Maybe they hv d same desgner. -Ara
To be fair, J did a teaser of her logo on June 8 http://welovejenni.blogspot.com/2011/06/something-exciting.html
Then D launched her new site June 28 http://daphne.ph/welcome-to-my-new-home
I think the design is totally coincidental. J's cameo-like image is her website logo and D's profile image is used only as one of the icons of her tabs. So magkaiba talaga.
i love reading both their blogs. D has been blogging for quite a while back, but she just went mainstream, same goes for J din naman. Maybe they have the same Web Developers or sumpn? - Tosh
I love D's blog. I follow her and I read the blog of the web designer also. Love the overall tone and theme of her site.
I haven't seen J's blog though. Thanks to google search via image, I was able to know who the other blog owner is. The only similarity I found was the images posted above, though.
I am a follower of these blogs. Later na nagpalit ng design si D for her new domain. Anyway, not really a big deal kasi maraming ganyan sa world wide web. Hihi.
J is Ms. Mabuhay, D is Urbanista with linen, furniture and accessory business. But I think we shouldn't accuse anyone of copying here, baka nagkataon lang. I prefer D though, plus her site was launched earlier than J.
It's not just the logo noh? but also the overall concept/feel of the site... I think the look is the fad nowadays... old... vintage... coincidence?!?!?!
Since J changed her blog lay-out, I stopped reading her posts. Nakakahilo. Ang daming palabok. Looks like it was created to mis-lead the readers kung ano new posts nya, if ever meron man.
Mas gusto ko blog ni D. Straight to the point. You can see her new posts and mas may honesty and substance.
J's posts are obviously to sell her (and K's) sponsors products lalo na yung de-latang isda.
AY gets ko nah si D love her too she encourages all mother to breastfeed their newborn.
Cripes! I was mulling who the hell J was but thanks to Anon September 2, 2011 11:18 AM - the eppal clue was such a winner! Haha! Suddenly the gray clouds cleared and a bright light beamed from the heavens - kilala ko na agad! I think some are missing the point. It's beyond blogging, it's branding. D has been steadily building her brand through her blog among other mediums hence the cameo inspired logo and overall feel of the blog is not just a blog template. It's a part of her brand! And J apparently wants to do something similar so when you go to her site, it's ready for selling. What will she sell, time will tell. Most likely some lifestyle related product like D. So it is an issue because what's at stake is branding and when it comes to branding, it actually matters who copied what from whom. Of course pirates or those who just copy from others are not necessarily losers, see the success stories of Bill Gates and Steve Jacobs and you'll know what I mean. It's just that D is such a likable person with fab fab skin to die for while J is a well known social climber and a bad writer. So I imagine most will hate on J, including me lol.
May similarity pero mukhang hindi naman naggayahan.
Mas enjoy basahin yung kay J! Thanks to Fashion Pulis, nadiscover ko yung blog nya!
D's site reminded me of gwyneth paltrow's website www.goop.com while J's site naman looks like a collage of all sorts. too heavy on the eyes with all the advertisements and flashy movements of photos - tka
I read all of the top fashion/lifestyle blogs in the Philippines and I can honestly say J is very creative. You can see it in her photos, her posts, and the way she dresses up. I doubt that she copied D. To be objective, J was the first to redesign her blog.
some of the comments here are below the belt. i'm a fan of j and if you're a regular reader of her website you will realize that she is sincere, real, and an amazing mother, wife, and friend. those who think otherwise clearly are just pure haters. their comments have no basis. j wrote about her logo in her previous blog way before d launched her new site. i don't think that d copied her either. the images are different. medyo bastos lang yung mga "fan" ni d.
I think J's website is patterned to international websites like marthastewart.com, oprah.com, etc. Merong window at categories. Para ring stylebible.ph. Hmm... ang taong "nahihilo" hindi sanay gumalaw!Hihihii
I know J. She's nice and funny! She's also very charming so people are drawn to her. If that makes her a "social climber", well that's not so bad. People in the industry feels D doesn't have any social skills. I met her a few times and I can see why they feel that about her. I mean, isn't D friends with two of the biggest social climbers? Tell me who you're friends are...
they probably were just both inspired by the same design or 'vibe' - it doesn't mean they copied each other. this BI will definitely give them more hits on their respective blogs.
See, this is why I'm very disappointed at FP for posting this. Reading through the comments, people are taking sides, taking shots at D or at J. Kesyo they're both social climbers, J is a bad writer, D is trying hard, D's blog makes them sleep, D's chairs should be destroyed.... Hmmmm. Now that I think about it, there are more shots at D, no?
And, again, it's all unnecessary, since I honestly don't think one of them copied the other in the first place.
And to Anonymous 4:05, I don't think IG wrote the "cripes" comment. That's not really how she writes, and I think she would get Steve JOBS name correct. Hahaha.
Were the comments defending D deleted? I think I read through every thing, and I didn't see any comments defending D that were bastos.
FP namaaaan... Please don't submit J & D to cheap bickering. I feel for these two bec your viewers malign them when they don't deserve it. Yung showbiz fans na lang ang pag-awayin mo and not these two who are respected in their own fields.
Chaka ng logo ni D! At saka may pagka trying hard sya.
Kunyari UNICEF, trying hard ambassador naman. September 2, 2011 5:20 PM"
Really?!?!? Really?!?!? How can you say "kunyari" UNICEF? And "trying hard ambassador"? What does that even mean?
I really felt the need to address this, because it was such a callous, unnecessary and ridiculous comment.
D is doing a lot of work to raise awareness on the issues facing Filipino children. She's (as someone already mentioned) an advocate for breastfeeding, she recently visited Maguindanao to shed light on the children's malnutrition, and her event last summer raised 1 MILLION pesos in funds for UNICEF Philippines. So how is that "kunyari" UNICEF? How is that trying hard? Well I guess the phrase "trying hard" is correct, because she is trying her best to change the lives of underprivileged Filipino children for the better.
I know I sound like I'm on D's payroll with this comment, but I really can't stand that her important work for UNICEF is being devalued this way (all because of similarities on some friggin' blog logos/icons, too). She's changing the lives of children, and inspiring others (like me) to do the same. What have YOU done?
my previous comment wasn't posted either. i like both J & D. they have different blogs entirely. why try to pit one against the other? like i said before, BIs based on eyewitness accounts & facts is one thing, but stirring up intrigue is another. NOW I HOPE THIS GETS POSTED, JUST TO BE FAIR TO ME TOO.
This is what I'm saying. People who don't really know the two BI subjects here just pass unfair judgments on the basis of what... blog design??? FP, if you're starting a debate among your readers please learn to moderate it. Don't allow insults to be hurled against respectable people.
I like both J & D but the latter better. But in fairness to FP, I do not think he would post just to stir intrigue. He might know something we don't. Didn't you guys consider that?
I do not know FP but I think he's not like any of those bloggers who just make up a topic for the sake of increasing traffic.
I like both J & D but the latter better. But in fairness to FP, I do not think he would post just to stir intrigue. He might know something we don't. Didn't you guys consider that?"
But when FP has a background story, he ALWAYS includes it in the post. There are always details. This one has no background whatsoever. So I'm inclined to think that there really is no background on this... If he knows something we don't then he should either include it in the post, or not post anything to begin with. Since it's not clear who really copied whom (and to be honest I don't think anyone did), people are taking sides, calling the women involved social climbers, trying hard, a bad writer, pretentious and all other things these women don't deserve. He has exposed these women to unwarranted criticism and pettiness from strangers, and that's just plain wrong. At the very least, he could've said that this post was only based on his opinion, so that people would be less quick to hurl accusations against one blogger or the other.
FP D Hired a Web-developer to the designs of her Blog, geez is this suppose to be an issue??? i like both of them, so to those mindless people who posts rude comments, get a life. there's no issue to begin with.
im sorry fp but this bi post is such a disappointment because this is a non-issue. j and d are friends. please dont let your readers take sides with things like this.
This is what I'm saying. People who don't really know the two BI subjects here just pass unfair judgments on the basis of what... blog design??? J and d
ReplyDeleteDefinitely J! I love D and she launched her blog earlier than J. D's site is so much more classier and she is not pretentious like Ms. Mabuhay!
ReplyDeleteD copied J. D's new blog design is quite recent.
ReplyDeletei know the 1st one is J's.. i dunno the 2nd one though.. so i cant really tell who was 1st..
ReplyDeleteI know J but who's D? If D's blog is better than J's, I should definitely see it! Please post more clues so I can go to her site. :)
ReplyDeletesino si D? i know who J is. hindi ko mahulaan si D. :(

ReplyDeleteI read the both blog, why do they have conflict because of the same design of that image? maybe they have the same web developer
ReplyDeletei know d but i don't know j. d had her blog design by someone. maybe they commissioned the same designer?
ReplyDeleteI know J and yeah, who's D?
ReplyDeleteif chronologically base.. D's site was the 1st.. ReplyDeleteOh i know J na.
ReplyDeleteNo Idea who J is (more clues please! :D), but I definitely know D, I saw the blog entry of the designer who made the layout of D's blog.
ReplyDeletei love them both but D launched her site a bit earlier than J
ReplyDeleteD is miss urbanista. :) I still have no idea who J is, more clues on her identity please!
ReplyDeleteSino si J?Clues please!
ReplyDeletei don't know who J is clues please

im utterly clueless... say who?? LOL
ReplyDeleteif u check livejournal, dami dun may side view logo so lahat sila nagkopyahan?! puhleezzz, wag pag-awayin ang mga taong di nag-aaway. bad yan.
ReplyDeleteI know D now.. she is miss urban zone.. who's J???

ReplyDeleteI DON'T THINK THERE'S A SIMILARITY BETWEEN THE TWO. J'S LOGO IS FOR HER WEBSITE BUT FOR D, IT'S JUST A TAB TO DESCRIBE ABOUT HERSELF... NO BIG DEAL!

ReplyDeletenon-issue naman ata to. urbanista even had a tweet greeting mabuhay since it's the latter's bday. next please!
ReplyDeleteIn fairness nahirapan ako hanapin si J!. I think D is more of mainstream than J and I think she's so ideal girl type since shes smart. :)

Mas maganda ung ke D. kay J parang walang Budget. =P
ReplyDeleteML
I dont even get why this looks 'similar' Walang nagkopyahan. Texture, finish, period..susme walang pinagkapareho.
ReplyDeleteSo what? What's the issue here?
ReplyDeleteyung first frame meron circle, short hair, naka sunglass at may necklace. yung second frame naka ponytail ang hair, may headband. so ang parehas lang naka sideview
ReplyDeletegosh, ang layo naman nung dalawang image no! porke't naka-sideview pareho, it follows na nangopya na yung isa?
ReplyDeleteAno beh?????Wala namang similarity eh as in WALANG WALA.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you create intrigue on this? It's a cameo... so don't tell me everyone who has a cameo copied each other?
ReplyDeleteNaman! Why is this an issue again?
ReplyDeleteNext BI!
this is a non-issue, honestly. why create something out of nothing?

Madaling basahin dahil at masarap balik-balikan.
At saka may pagka trying hard sya.
ReplyDeleteKunyari UNICEF, trying hard ambassador naman.
Obvious na si D ang naggaya! Chaka lang ng site ni D!
ReplyDeleteSirain din yung D chairs nya!
I like J's logo. Sorry but D's image is baduy.
Like dun sa BI mo about very giddy, wala din dating. so common
ReplyDeleteD's site reminded me of gwyneth paltrow's website www.goop.com
ReplyDeletewhile J's site naman looks like a collage of all sorts. too heavy on the eyes with all the advertisements and flashy movements of photos - tka
Very mom and po shop yung design ng blog ni D. Reading her blog puts me to sleep.
ReplyDeleteShe might not have copied J but she needs to redesign her site.
Parang wala namang issue yung logos nila D at J.
ReplyDeleteAng tanong, anong nauna: Ask J o Ask L?
I like J's logo and blog more.
ReplyDeleteMagkapareho ba? Cameo yung logo ni J tapos parang doily o snowflake yung kay D. Labo. Hehee
ReplyDeleteI read all of the top fashion/lifestyle blogs in the Philippines and I can honestly say J is very creative. You can see it in her photos, her posts, and the way she dresses up. I doubt that she copied D. To be objective, J was the first to redesign her blog.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to FP to fan the flames.
Visit nyo!
ReplyDeletesome of the comments here are below the belt. i'm a fan of j and if you're a regular reader of her website you will realize that she is sincere, real, and an amazing mother, wife, and friend. those who think otherwise clearly are just pure haters. their comments have no basis. j wrote about her logo in her previous blog way before d launched her new site. i don't think that d copied her either. the images are different. medyo bastos lang yung mga "fan" ni d.
Peace!
ReplyDeleteI think J's website is patterned to international websites like marthastewart.com, oprah.com, etc. Merong window at categories. Para ring stylebible.ph. Hmm... ang taong "nahihilo" hindi sanay gumalaw!Hihihii
ReplyDeleteI know J.
ReplyDeleteThanks to FP I discovered J's blog! Lavet!
ReplyDeleteano ba, wag na pag-awayin! both are successful in their own rights. and they have their own separate fan bases. yun na yun.
ReplyDeletethey probably were just both inspired by the same design or 'vibe' - it doesn't mean they copied each other. this BI will definitely give them more hits on their respective blogs.
ReplyDeleteJ & D should thank you because people who don't know their blogs exist suddenly checked them out! :)
Lolz
ReplyDeleteSus, D copie hers from Gwyneth's website din naman. Goop.com. Whatevs
ReplyDeleteKilala ko yung nagulat ng "Cripes!" Buking ka IG! Halata yung tone mo!
ReplyDeleteGusto kong sumali sa Jennirosity day!! Haha
ReplyDeleteAnd, again, it's all unnecessary, since I honestly don't think one of them copied the other in the first place.

What have YOU done?
dontaskmetosmile, i made a comment for D's side. Apparently, FP did not post it. Or nakaligtaan lang?
ReplyDelete(Post this FP. Be fair. The one I previously sent was not as vivid as those you chose to post)
my previous comment wasn't posted either. i like both J & D. they have different blogs entirely. why try to pit one against the other? like i said before, BIs based on eyewitness accounts & facts is one thing, but stirring up intrigue is another. NOW I HOPE THIS GETS POSTED, JUST TO BE FAIR TO ME TOO.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I'm saying. People who don't really know the two BI subjects here just pass unfair judgments on the basis of what... blog design??? FP, if you're starting a debate among your readers please learn to moderate it. Don't allow insults to be hurled against respectable people.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... many comments were not posted, even mine was edited. Biased much, FP?
ReplyDeleteI like both J & D but the latter better. But in fairness to FP, I do not think he would post just to stir intrigue. He might know something we don't. Didn't you guys consider that?
ReplyDeleteI do not know FP but I think he's not like any of those bloggers who just make up a topic for the sake of increasing traffic.
they both copied goop.com!

ReplyDeleteim sorry fp but this bi post is such a disappointment because this is a non-issue. j and d are friends. please dont let your readers take sides with things like this.
