A cheapskate is a stingy person who tries to avoid paying a fair share of costs or expenses. In Filipino slang, we call this kind of person as "cheapipay".
I don't mean to toot my own horn but my friends can definitely attest to this. Whenever I am dining with them, as much as possible, I try to reach for the bill first when it arrives. If I were joining a group of people that I am not so familiar with for dinner, what I do is I initiate to put in more money for what I have ordered to avoid the awkward computation. When it comes to footing the bill, I am proud to say that I am not "cheapipay" unlike this female celebrity in today's blind item.
This female celebrity prefers to hang out with friends (male or female) who automatically reaches for the bill when it arrives. She enjoys the company of generous people who do not worry about who ordered what, and who would gladly pay for her dinner and drinks. What is worse is that when the bill is delivered to the table, she does not even make a show of reaching into her designer purse.
Do you know who this female celebrity is? Open your eyes widely and I am sure you will find the answer.
I would like to request you to observe the

Singer-actress ba siya? Nagparetoke na rin? Na-BI na rin siya dito before about her concert sa Resorts World hotel. La Ocean Deep na siya kasi.
ReplyDelete"Open your eyes widely?" Hmm, sino kaya itoh?
ReplyDeleteI think its the former queen,F! Bongga xa s concert scene before but now, F stands for Flopchina na... Mdalas n tlga xa ma-BI n coritha, as in... Well, bka nagtitipid lang kc malaki ang nagastos s kaniyang uma-Angelina Jolie n lips... haha...
ReplyDeleteI think it's P. Something with the word "cheapipay" made me think of her. lol Also the "open your eyes" comment. XD
ReplyDeletedarn im clueless... but my quick quess: is this the one who's concert sold only 5 tickets well based on the title? LOL anyway i'll wait for more clues. (evil laugh)
ReplyDeleteWord to the wise dapat kung mag-de-designer bag ka, kaya mong panindigan!
ReplyDeletethe singer actress who likes younger man.... its in the tittle..... enjoy your trip fp...
ReplyDeleteperformance flop, is that you?
ReplyDeletebestfriend ni bollywood.
ReplyDeleteIs this the signer/actress from the eighties that would do the "Telefone" and was once married to the Madman?
ReplyDeleteI want to correct FP, say that Kuripot is more appropriate than Cheapipay based sa description nya sa asal ni actress pero baka clue ang cheapipay haha. Cheapipay is more of lacking class kasi unlike kuripot na makunat talaga - kahit meron pera di magbabayad kung makakalibre. Cheapipay is walang class kahit may pera or pwede din wala na nga pera, asal palengkera pa. Also used for objects that are priced really cheap or look cheap.
ReplyDeleteNow, the million dollar question is sino to? Haha I have no idea! Malaki ba mata? Sabi kasi "open your eyes widely". Clues please :D
Oh, I have no idea who this is...
ReplyDeleteFP, we call this kind of person "parents", in Tagalog "magulang"!
Cheapipay- cya na ba un? Heheh

ReplyDeleteopen your eyes widely daw sabi ni FP..hmm..ah ang nakikita ko lang is yung chea-PIPAY sa title..tama ba ko?
ReplyDeleteIs this P? The ex-wife of M. The clue is On the title. Afew of the syllables ata are her nickname. Pati the clue "open your eyes widely". Medyo bilugan eyes niya di ba.
ReplyDeleteMore power to FP! Your blog is my early morning read!- Ms.Minchin

ReplyDeleteKung siya nga parang di ako makapaniwala. Hindi nga, siya nga??

ReplyDeleteI guess the answer is in the title am I right?
ReplyDeletelol! na BI mo na sya before dito, if my guess is right... used to be married to M... they have 2 kids whose first names start with R. ex din nya si TM who is now with AM na ex-survivor... ex din nya si JI, who has two exes with the same initials, AM. ;-p
ReplyDeleteay marami akong kilalang ganyan haha
ReplyDeleteGosh, this weather's so init. Makes me want to grab some POP. Maybe Sprite? ;)
ReplyDeleteIs it PF? ex-wife of MN?
ReplyDeletea hot mama....divorced with two grown up huge kids one a VJ the other a artist...
ReplyDeleteLollipop is that you?
ReplyDeleteThat's not fair. Not everyone has that much money and thus can be generous when it comes to paying the bill. Probably that actress has some financial troubles and maybe she just wants to pay for just what she ordered. I dont consider her as a cheapskate. I feel bad for this actress because some people aren't that understanding when it comes to money problems because they themselves aren't in that situation. C'mon FP, what is happening to you? This doesnt sound like a blind item, more like an act of discrimination.
ReplyDeleteaffected nuch?
Deleteooops wala pang comment hehe
ReplyDeleteuhmmmm.. R?
ReplyDeleteIts in the title
ReplyDeletewas she the one featured sa past blog niyo na 3-5 persons lang ang umattend sa concert niya?? Popsicle ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteread the inquirer's RUSHES and learn. while their bi's are juicy and sweet, yours are sooo loopy and wordy. remember, brevity is the soul of wit!
ReplyDelete(reach for the bill? why can't you just say pick up the tab?
i think the answer is in the title cheaPIPAY...
ReplyDeletesi duling ba ito?
ReplyDeleteWell, if I hear the word Pipay, I only have one person in mind. She's no longer a successful actress nor singer, so I guess celebrity nalang siya? The former Queen?
ReplyDeletehmmm i have no idea... comments pls.. keep it coming na...:)
ReplyDeletei know who this female celebrity is. :) si P.
ReplyDeleteno comments pa..cno toh
ReplyDelete- ;-) y
more clues FP! cheapipay.. peach?
ReplyDeleteModel G?
ReplyDeleteJanitor fish? Fashion brand - Pipay? :)
ReplyDeleteFirst! I know who this is na!! Super easy! She used to be very Popular and have lots of Fans. ;) She even had a Groupon-style website called Ch-------! Very appropriate nga!

ReplyDeleteis she a fading concert artist?
is she the one with extremely pouting lips?
ReplyDelete--G
name is in the title?
ReplyDeletefor the first time, i beg to disagree with FP about his definition of cheapipay. Cheapipay is not a stingy person but someone who is "easy to get, easy to convince." To some, cheapipay means pokpok.
ReplyDeleteCheapipay can mean many things, usage is relative. In this case, FP should have used "freeloader" to describe the person in the article.
DeletechiPIPAY?
ReplyDeleteali
Hahahahaha!!! I think I know her. If this is indeed who I think it is, then this may be the celebrity who had a super flop concert a few months ago. People close to her indeed chose the right term of endearment for her--- cheap-PIPAY!!!
ReplyDeleteSi CHEAPipay talaga ito!
ReplyDeletehehehe. kilala ko ito... she's royalty daw, pero has-been na eh... she's also friends kuno with another royalty as in beauty queen and was recently linked to the eligible politician (but not necessarily bachelor...)
ReplyDeletetama ba ako, FP???
--mall rat
ReplyDeleteDon't open your eyes that much, people. It might POP out! Wahahaha!
ReplyDeleteSaw her lately in one of the business events. Mga two weeks ago yata yun. And what is she even doing there? LOL
-- DC
open your eyes widely also means "POP" your eyeS out, am i right?! :)
ReplyDeletedear 3:24,
ReplyDeletewala naman masamang pinapalabas si FP! and tama lang na if you dont have money, wag ka nalang sumama or umalis. kesa umasa kang may ibang magbabayad sayo. FP was just saying to at least pay your share and not pay for the bill. some people are too shallow sometimes. Affected much?! hahaha
wag niyo nalang kaya pakialamanan ang title na gusto ni FP. pasalamat nga tayo he has a blog like this. Pinaganda lang niya yung title :)
ReplyDeleteOoohh FP!! Kilala ko Ito and her friends..Medyo rich girls ang friends lalo na ang 2 sisters na lagi niyang kasama (sa kanila sya lagi nagpapalibre..or nakikisali). May sumisingit pa lagi na gay makeup artist. People, tama ang guesses ninyo Kung sino si cheapipay!!
ReplyDeleteVioletta
The awkward moment when the group share Cash money infront of
ReplyDeletethe waitress. Halatang walang budget. Use Card next time sweetie. KalurQui.

@Anonymous August 16, 2011 4:46 PM
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you.
FP, spare yourself from further shame. Write in Tagalog. Your English is despicable.
pipay-foh-fum
ReplyDeletethe singer with the Flop Performance.... grabe.. kahit man lang sana mag gesture na may kukunin kahit kunwari lang... dedma lng tlga xa....
ReplyDeletedi ba there was an isyu before that she was with friends G and R and when G card was decline . di man siya (sila) nagpretend na sila na lang ang magbabayad and ahve to wait G's partner go to hotel to pay their bill
ReplyDeleteto 10:19 wala namang problema kung ano ang gustong gamiting title ni FP. he is entitled to it...ang mali yung definition niya ng word na cheapipay. yun lang ang gustong i-correct naming ibang readers. constructive naman eh saka for his improvement din sa choices of words na gagamitin niya sa mga susunod na articles. peace!
ReplyDeleteTo anonymous aug16 4:46pm -rily? Must u be so critical wd FP's choice of words? Hu r u? A world class journalist? Jeez! Get a lyf! FP is only here to entertain us and not to Teach us wth english 101! And inquirer's BI is obviously written in such a way that even cursety fermin and ogie diaz wud hav difficulty answering it. And this site is a damn blog and not a column in a widely circulated broadsheet! What a condescending intellectual poser!!! Grrrr! -as for d BI, FP knows dat d appropriate term for this is cheapskate but then his BI's titles are always brimming wth clues...so FP must hav patterned it to d has-been queen moniker...hus singing voice is as good as my neighbor's karaoke-whoring skills..hehe -stelena
ReplyDeleteI wonder bakit nagkakaganito si Cheapipay? If I recall correctly ung mom nya socialite, ung dad lang nya ung "commoner" kahit artista. So she was born rich, had a successful and long career - even if nagretire na to after her separation from hubby (why she even married him I don't know tsk tsk) she should be set for a cushy life. Unless may bisyo sya, she shouldn't really have a hard time maintaining a sushal lifestyle. So this is somewhat sad... I always found her beautiful, not the best at what she does kahit may queen churva title pa sya but yeah growing up I always found her pretty.
ReplyDeletebest friend kasi sya ng isang editor ng socialite mag. kaya maski walang career laging may press coverage and always invited to parties and events.
ReplyDeleteto Anonymous (August 16, 2011 4:46 PM) and Carla (August 16, 2011 11:52 PM),
ReplyDeletei don't understand why you linger and read FP's BIs when you find his english despicable (i'm sure you're still around and religiously following FP's blog :P)
ReplyDeletewasn't P rumored to have brought a much younger guy to an expensive resort and taking care of all the expenses? i guess she's only frugal with her friends, but with her lover(s) she's all-out...

ReplyDelete@Carla> LOL. Like WTF? Just STFU! FP need not use hifaluting words for he may not be understood by some readers. Maybe you're a Jeje pretending to be a socialite like RdV.
ReplyDeleteto FP> pleeeeeease do not stoop down to her level. i super love the way you write. ;)
Anon 4:46, what's the difference? Do you understand it when he says reach for the bill? If you do, then why do you have to change it?
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm siding with Fashion Pulis's detractors or anything, but I must say to those coming to FP's defense... Don't anymore. You're just embarrassing yourselves (and maybe FP too, if I were FP).
ReplyDeleteJust give up attempting to sound smart and educated if you don't have the grammar and spelling skills to back it up.
With that said, j'adore Fashion Pulis. :-)
hay nako. carla and 4.whatever. if you're looking for good english writers, website ng diaryo ang basahin nyo wag ito. at hatest ko un mga self righteous like these two. dun kayo sa cnn, inquirer, bbc magbasa wag dito mga chismosa din kayo. echosera.
ReplyDeleteif there's anything fun about this site, the readers are all like super friends so yun mga feelingera like you, stop reading the BIs if you're just going to spoil the fun. siguro u dont have friends kaya english nalang ng ibang tao ang tinitira mo. Haha!
We all have different writing styles. Some are comfy with textbook english, some are not. Different strokes for different folks.
ReplyDeleteBut this is FP's blog. Go write your own blog if you have any qualms on FP's english. Anong paki mo? If you want to find your chismis on some broadsheet where the language is easier on you, then go. Stop complaining when you're here for what's latest on the grapevine.
Mike, I don't need the drama, so posting once again as anonymous. Mwah!

@Carla - FP admits he's not a prolific writer and the purpose is to entertain. I think he achieved his goal judging by the number of comments and people defending him (consider me one of them). Now, if you find his use of the English language despicable, then stop reading the blog. And I'm sure that he chooses his words with care to be able to give subtle clues. I admire that skill because it's not something they teach you in Comm I, II or III in any university. Grammar can be learned but to fill a whole paragraph with hidden clues is something else.
ReplyDelete@FP - love the blog. keep writing and ignore the lambasting. someone wise once told me: if people put you down, it means you are on top. if you have detractors, it means you are famous. and i believe that you are.
Is this C who is sort of related to Cherries? hihi
ReplyDeleteGet a life CARLA! Stop TROLLING. If you find FP's writing despicable, why don't you just NOT VISIT THE SITE?! You're way over you head acting like a pompous b---h. I'm sure you're a sad-looking cow who craves attention.
ReplyDeleteFELLOW FP FOLLOWERS!!! LET'S JUST IGNORE HATERS LIKE HER/HIM. YAN ANG GUSTO NIYA. LET'S JUST MAKE HER/HIM INSIGNIFICANT!!!
KALOKA.
i used to be very particular when it comes to english, but now, as long as i understand what people blogs about, then i'm fine with it.
ReplyDeletei like your blog, FP. no need to change it. :)
anyway, i read this entry yesterday, and i instantly got it. guess i'm learning. :)
While I was reading the comments naligaw na yata ako bigla? Anyare? Not here to defend FP. But I actually envy his creativity sa title pa lang. But, hey! FP! Galing mo ah. You have "educated" readers na gusto nosebleed-an ang labanan. Hihi.
ReplyDelete-Moon
FP's blog is not an English class...To those who are criticizing his choice of words make a blog of your own on how to use English correctly. I don't feel there's anything wrong with how he uses his words in writing. I don't feel less of a person as well, nor am I embarrassed defending his writing style as opposed to a comment I've read above. To those giving suggestions, why not write it in private rather than openly giving your hateful words. Seems to me that you want to brag about your knowledge in English. More power to you FP! I hope you will continue expressing yourself by writing these blogs. I sincerely enjoy reading your blogs, I really LOOOOOVEEEE them! Have a safe trip! :))))
ReplyDeletehowever, whatever, whichever way you write, I LOVE FASHION PULIS! Those who don't like it, then just skip this one out.
ReplyDeleteOnce you pop, you just can't stop!
ReplyDeleteuntil now nagtataka ako bat rina sya sa larangan nya eh walang dating ang boses nya..kung sasali yan sa mga talent show ngayon ligwak yan teh
ReplyDeletehay madam carla & her english speaking tropa...why you read here if you thought wrong grammaring FP..why don't you written your own blog and teaching english..both speaking & written one..us enjoyment here..if you don't enjoyed read here..do not reading here.
ReplyDeletedon't mind them FP...we love the way you write and enjoy reading your blogs..we are here to read & just have fun..

Nickname po un di ba. sa title?
ReplyDeleteI worked with P once and she asked my partner and I to rush all her requirements. We sent it in time for the very short deadline she and her business partners gave us, yet they never got back to us despite repeated follow ups. Needless to say, we did not get paid for our work.
ReplyDeletei dont like this BI as well
ReplyDeleteif you are in a situation where you dont have much to spend

stop reading BI noh! helloer! this is a democratic free country! besides, even the anti cyber law has been put to a halt, by no less than the highest court of the land thru a TRO, because they are also thinking of the constitutionality of restraining free speech in the internet. otherwise, if they are so sure of the law passed by congress, it would have been implemented impromptu after issuance of implementing rules & regulations & trash all the appeals filed questioning its constitutionality. gets mo? if not, sa baklang lenguahe, ito ay pinas, lahat carry except pumatay. period! HAHAH KALOKA KA! bakyang taga harvard law HAHAH
