A Unique Wedding Gown: Love it or Hate it?

Here's another angle of the gown

This ultra unique wedding gown by Rajo Laurel caught my attention!  It was worn by a bride on her weddingday, not by a model for a fashion show (in fairness, this bride does have a model frame).  I am definitely loving the impeccable construction of the top part but I am not sure of the three cone-shaped bottom design.  I admire the ingenuity of the designer but I find it too risque for a wedding gown. Perhaps it is just because my "classic" taste.

Please share your thoughts.  Is it a CHECK or an EX?  and Why?
(sounds like a question for a quiz, that's the teacher in me)

I will be waiting for your comments. Follow me on twitter: micsylim.

  1. Perhaps a fuller view of the dress would help? I'd like to see the full picture first (do you have any? - even without showing the bride's face, just the whole of the dress) before I can say if it's good or bad or just plain okay.

But with just perusing the given photo, I'd say EX.

  3. I do love the construction of the dress but I do think it isn't something appropriate for the wedding. The details would catch more attention than the bride herself.

  5. For me its not ex, its a style because the fact that it depends on what the client's taste. As long it does not involve cheating and its about satisfying the client, it doesn't matter. Wedding gowns of celebrities or famous individuals are the one should be rated or commented because their image is somehow imitated or inspired by the public. But private individual like her should not be scrutinized if its in or not, its a matter of to each its own thing anyway!

  6. i love it because it's d bride's disposition what to wear on her wedding day.. anyway, its her own way to express herself thru her wedding gown, its her definition of fashion!

  7. Love the top part too. I think the size of the 3 cone shaped fabric made an impact on the bridal dress. It would have been more sophisticate if they were done smaller, by meaning making the diameter of the cones smaller.

  8. I've seen this design before, by Versace. But it didn't have the tulle, and in a different color. Check it out in this website:

  9. i think it is an adaptation of one artist on another artist's work..........by the looks of it, it came out very well and it suited the bride's frame....i'm sure she looked stunning and happy on her wedding day!

  14. I know the bride. She carried it with style. So it really depends on the person. :)

  15. You have a point. The one who is carrying it is very important. =)

  16. Love the top part of the dress. I've always loved layerings and pleats such as this and looks like it has been intricately made. The gown also looks good with the model-like frame of the mystery bride. The mix of the top and the cones do not match well though. Top, too classy. Cnes, too out of the box!

  17. It may look good on a runway, but in real life, the bride MUST really--- absolutely---possess a certain sense of style & a lithe physique to be able to pull this one off. Not everyone can confidently walk down the aisle looking like a drifting Sydney Opera House. Some looks are meant to be theatrical-cum-experimental, but they do not necessarily make the wearer best-dressed. And just because a name designer is the creator does not necessarily mean the work is good. Rajo has a lot of hits, but he also has his share of misses, no matter what his rabid fans have to say.

  18. XONie

the top is pretty but the bottom is very wrong... it should have had a softer look to complement the very structured detail on top. and vise versa.
